Disney Announces Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance Will Open at Walt Disney World First, Then at Disneyland. The announcement shares the opening dates for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance at both U.S. based parks, but will first be available at Walt Disney World’s Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
According to Disney, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will open on Dec. 5 at Walt Disney World Resort in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. This comes as a surprise since Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge first opened at Disneyland Resort this summer and Walt Disney World Resort will be opening their stargates on August 29th.
The new land will open without one of it’s main attractions, much like Disneyland did, but will see the new attraction open December 5, 2019.
In a statement regarding the attraction Disney said, “When it opens, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will blur the lines between fantasy and reality and will put guests in the middle of a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance. Guests will be recruited to join Rey and General Organa at a secret base. Along the way, they will be captured by a First Order Star Destroyer. With the help of some heroes of the Resistance, they break out and must escape the Star Destroyer, protect the secret base, and stay one step ahead of Kylo Ren.
As soon as work is completed at Walt Disney World, Imagineers will head back to California to complete their mission at Disneyland Resort where Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will open on Friday, Jan. 17. ”
