Star-Studded Cast Revealed for Guillermo del Toro’s ‘Pinocchio’ Coming Soon to Netflix. The new Pinocchio film will be a Netflix original stop-motion film with Guillermo del Toro at the helm. Guillermo’s Pinocchio is not tied to the live-action remake of the animated Pinocchio film currently in the works at Walt Disney Studios.
Netflix shared the full cast list for the film via twitter, stating, “Introducing the epic cast of [Guillermo del Toro’s] stop-motion PINOCCHIO film: Newcomer Gregory Mann as Pinocchio, Ewan McGregor as Cricket, David Bradley as Gepetto. Plus: Tilda Swinton, Christopher Waltz, Finn Wolfhard, Cate Blanchett, John Turturro, Ron Pearlman, Tim Blake Nelson, Burn Gorman.”

A synopsis for the film shares, “A dark, twisted retelling of the famous Carlo Collodi fairy tale about the wooden puppet who dreams of becoming a real boy. The story is set during the rise of Fascism in Mussolini’s Italy, PINOCCHIO — a musical directed by del Toro and Mark Gustafson (Fantastic Mr. Fox) with musical score by Alexandre Desplat — is a story of love and disobedience as Pinocchio struggles to live up to his father’s expectations.”
