Singer and Actress Helen Reddy from ‘Pete’s Dragon‘ Passes Away at Age 78. Australian singer, songwriter, actress, and activist Helen Reddy has passed away. Disney Fans may know her best as Nora from the 1977 animated film, Pete’s Dragon. In the film, Reddy recorded the Disney Classic Song “Candle on the Water”. Reddy was also an accomplished singer with 20 Billboard charting songs and 3 number 1 hits including “I Am Woman”, “Delta Dawn” and “Angie Baby.” Her children Traci and Jordan Sommers shared the news of her passing via Reddy’s endorsed Facebook Fan page.
The statement read: “It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Helen Reddy, on the afternoon of September 29th 2020 in Los Angeles. She was a wonderful Mother, Grandmother and a truly formidable woman. Our hearts are broken. But we take comfort in the knowledge that her voice will live on forever.”
