Rumored: Marvel Studios Eyeing Tom Cruise as Iron Man in Doctor Strange 2. According to EpicStream, Marvel Studios is considering replacing Robert Downey Jr. with Tom Cruise for an appearance as Iron Man/Tony Stark in an alternate universe (AU) featured in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. EpicStream shared a post from scooper and insider Daniel RPK who reported to The Direct, stating:

“I have they are considering a bunch of interesting cameos for Strange to play different versions of chatacter we know. One example I heard of they are considering is Tom Cruise as Tony Stark from another Earth (At one point Cruise almost got the role of Stark before RDJ)”

To his merit, there have been rumors that Evan Peters would be appearing as a version of Quicksilver/Peter Maximoff in the new WandaVision Disney series, making the first Mutants/X-Men character crossover into the MCU. It is also reported that a new actor, potentially Henry Cavill, will portray a new Wolverine in the upcoming sequel Captain Marvel 2. If these rumors are to be believed, it’s not as far fetched of a plan as some may think to have other actors pop in as alternate versions of reestablished characters.

I, like many other Marvel Fans, am not thrilled at the idea of anyone but Robert Downey Jr. playing the iconic role of Tony Stark/Iron Man, BUT depending on what Marvel has in mind, it could make for some interesting storytelling, especially after the events that are set to take place in WandaVision. Exploring different dimensions and the multiverse will be fascinating as an audience member. We will hope that the essence of the featured characters will be honored in the story should they decide to feature new faces with familiar names.

Noted: There has been no confirmation by Marvel Studios about replacing Robert Downey Jr. in the role of Tony Stark/Iron Man at the time of writing. These are simply rumors at this time.

What do you think of this scoop? Do you think Marvel will feature other actors in various roles? Which characters would you like to see in the new film? We would love to hear your thoughts in the comments. Be sure to check back here at Chip and Co. for updates and all things Marvel!
