Robert Rodriguez to Executive Produce 'The Book of Boba Fett' Series on Disney+

Robert Rodriguez to Executive Produce ‘The Book of Boba Fett‘ Series on Disney+. This past weekend, fans of The Mandalorian were the first to hear that news that Boba Fett was officially getting his own Star Wars series called The Book of Boba Fett which is set to premiere exclusively on Disney+ in December 2021.

Though the series had been rumored for weeks the title and details about the series are just beginning to emerge, Star Wars fans are already ready to see what Boba Fett (Temuera Morrison) has been up to since his escape from the Sarlacc Pit and ultimately to his rescue of Fennec Shands (Ming-Na Wen) on Tatooine.

The official logo for the series was shared today by Disney and Lucasfilm along with the caption, “The Book of Boba Fett, a new Original Series, starring Temuera Morrison and Ming-Na Wen and executive produced by Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni and Robert Rodriguez, set within the timeline of The Mandalorian, is coming to Disney+ Dec. 2021.”

Famed director Robert Rodriguez will join The Mandalorian Showrunners Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni as an executive producer for The Book of Boba Fett with a high chance of taking the directors chair for an episode or two. Rodriguez directed The Mandalorian: Chapter 14: The Tragedy and is reportedly excited to continue working with Lucasfilm and Disney+ on the new Boba Fett series.

It is currently unknown if The Book of Boba Fett will take place as a prequel series, or a congruent series with a heavy presence of flashbacks. From current understandings about the series the show will likely be a prequel series that may catch up to the “current events” featured in the second season of The Mandalorian and beyond.
