So much construction has been going on in and around Downtown Disney, to complete its transformation to Disney Springs. Everyone is anxious for the changes to be finished, and the construction hassles to be gone. But many guests are also hoping for some wonderful new dining venues. We are pleased to let you know that three amazing restaurants will be opening in early 2015, as part of the first phase of Disney Springs, and a fourth is rumored, but not yet confirmed.

First is The BOATHOUSE

boathouse

This unique, family-friendly dining establishment will actually come out onto the water. Its location will be in the area to be called The Landing, formerly a part of the Pleasure Island portion of Downtown Disney on the water next to Fulton’s Crab House.  A part of the Gibson Restaurant Group, The BOATHOUSE will have three bars (a drink bar, dock bar, and raw bar), an extensive menu including seafood, steaks, and more, and live entertainment. Six rooms, including 2 private dining rooms, will contain 400 seats in this restaurant that is nautically themed, and designed after an old boathouse (hence the name!). The BOATHOUSE will also be the launch point for several small water cruises, including an Italian-style Dessert Cruise which will give guests a tour of The Landing. As this restaurant will likely be very popular, you should keep your eyes peeled for an opening date, and snag those reservations quickly!

Second confirmed restaurant is STK Orlando

STK restaurants in other locations give us some insight into what we might expect from STK Orlando. STK steakhouses encourage socialization between guests, and operate as a combination restaurant and lounge, with upscale food and drinks, and a DJ. Slated to be among the largest of the STK restaurants at 14,000 feet, this venue will have two dining levels as well as rooftop seating. Expect to see Happy Hour events, as well as 7 course dinners with specialty wines. This is clearly a location that will be more adult appropriate. This restaurant will also open by Spring of 2015.

Third, we can enjoy Morimoto Asia

Morimoto

Patina Restaurant Group and Iron chef Masaharu Morimoto are planning a modern, pan-Asian dining experience to open in the Summer of 2015. Expect to see lots of glass for wonderful view, as well as some traditional Asian elements. Outdoor dining spaces will give views of the water, and the two story restaurant will contain private dining rooms, a grand hall, long bar, and cocktail lounge. Exhibition kitchens will allow guests to view the preparation of favorite dishes, including Peking Duck.

Our rumored restaurant is called The Edison

edison

While Disney has announced The Edison as a potential new dining venue, there has been no confirmation from either Disney (regarding where it might be located) or from The Edison’s restaurant development group (as to its actual commitment to Disney Springs). The venue will likely have a steampunk feel to it, but with some level of sophistication. While food is served at their Los Angeles location, it is really more of a nightclub – specialty drinks and entertainment – than a restaurant. If indeed The Edison comes to Disney Springs, it would likely take the spot once occupied by Mannequins Dance Palace in the old Pleasure Island complex.

  1. I’m so excited to try all the new restaurants. The Boathouse sounds like a lot of fun. I’m always checking online for when the reservations open. I’m so glad I’m staying in Orlando May-August that gives me plenty of time.
