‘Raya and the Last Dragon‘ Release Date Postponed Due to Pandemic. Production studios around the world are being forced to push back theatrical release dates for dozens of highly anticipated films, and Disney is no exception. Almost every movie title previously scheduled to premiere after February 2020 have been postponed for months, years, and some titles indefinitely.
Luckily, Disney has announced many of the new release dates, but a vast majority of films meant to release in 2020 have been pushed back to 2021, including Raya and the Last Dragon. Previously, Raya and the Last Dragon was set to premiere on November 25, 2020, but will now premiere in theaters on March 12, 2021.
“In the fantastic, mythical land of Kumandra, dragons used to be plentiful in the region, but they have all begun to disappear, so the search is on to discover the last one. The hero on this journey is Raya, a fearless warrior, who is determined to uncover the whereabouts of the last Dragon, Sisu, a water dragon who has the ability to take human form as an old woman.”
The cast for the film includes Cassie Steele (Raya) and Awkwafina (Sisu), with Paul Briggs and Dean Wellins co-directing. The script for the film was penned by Adele Lim. Be sure to check back here at Chip and Co. for updates and all things Disney!
