Disney World to Host the 2023 FIFG FootGolf World Cup

Fans of the burgeoning sport of FootGolf, a hybrid between soccer and golf, can look forward to international competition at its very best when the 4th FIFG FootGolf World Cup is hosted in Orlando from May 27^th– June 6^th.

Around 1,000 players from 40 countries will compete in three categories (men, senior men, and women) in two different formats (individual stroke play and team match play). The individual and team competitions will take place on 18-hole FootGolf courses at Disney’s Palm Golf Course and the new Evermore Orlando Resort.

“FootGolf is the ultimate hybrid sport combining the skills of football (soccer) with the elegance of golf,” said Federation for International FootGolf (FIFG) president Laura Balestrini. “The FootGolf World Cup will showcase the world’s best foot golfers, including No. 1 2022 FIFG World Tour ranked Cedric Bonnot of France, who will compete on some of FootGolf’s most naturally beautiful and challenging courses.”

Disney’s Palm Golf Course, which will stage FootGolf World Cup events at Walt Disney World_®Golf, is no stranger to the sport and just last year played host to the U.S. FootGolf Open, the Jansen Cup, and the Pacific Trophy.

Walt Disney World_®Golf, known as “The Happiest Place on TURF!”, first featured FootGolf on Disney’s Oak Trail Golf Course in 2018, and it has since grown to be a very popular sport worldwide.

“Our FootGolf offering here has served as a new gateway to our facilities,” said Alex Forsyth, Director of Sales and Marketing for Walt Disney World_®Golf operated by Arnold Palmer Golf Management. “We’ve seen families and amateur players regularly visit Disney’s Oak Trail Golf Course to play FootGolf, and now they can come and watch the world’s very best in action.”

The Walt Disney World_®Resort has always been home to miniature golf courses and driving ranges that are open to the public. In recent years, resort visitors have been able to get their kicks playing FootGolf with a soccer ball on Disney’s Oak Trail Golf Course in the late afternoons on select days. FootGolf has expanded internationally since the first World Cup was held in Hungary in 2012 when 79 athletes flew the flag for eight countries. Twenty-six countries were represented by 227 athletes when Argentina hosted the 2016 FootGolf World Cup, and 503 athletes from 33 countries competed in the 2018 edition which took place in Morocco.

The 2023 FootGolf World Cup will be played under the official rules of the game, as established and updated earlier this year by the sport’s governing body, the FIFG. The primary function of the FIFG is to promote worldwide recognition of FootGolf, while it also oversees international development and growth to ensure equitable play for all players.

Former Disney CEO Bob Chapek, CFO Christine McCarthy, and Others Accused of Misleading Investors About Disney+ in Lawsuit

An investor has filed a proposed class action in the US District Court for the Central District of California, alleging that The Walt Disney Co.’s reorganization in October 2020, led by its new CEO Robert Chapek, was designed to conceal significant costs associated with its Disney+ streaming service.

The lawsuit names Disney, Robert Chapek, and other executives as defendants. According to the complaint filed on May 12, the defendants are accused of repeatedly misleading investors about the actual success of the Disney+ platform. They are alleged to have concealed the true expenses involved in maintaining substantial subscriber growth and misrepresented the platform’s profitability prospects, claiming it would achieve profitability by the end of the fiscal year 2024.

The plaintiff, the Local 272 Labor-Management Pension Fund, claims that the executives engaged in a strategy where they initially released content meant for Disney+ on a different platform. This tactic was allegedly employed to transfer marketing and production costs from Disney+ to the legacy platform, according to the lawsuit.

The reorganization led by CEO Robert Chapek is said to have significantly deviated from Disney’s traditional reporting structure, resulting in internal controversy. The power and control that were previously held by creative content executives were purportedly redirected to Chapek’s subordinate, Kareem Daniel, who is also named as a defendant in the case.

In response to a request for comment to Bloomberg Law, Disney stated via email that they are aware of the complaint and plan to vigorously defend themselves in court.

Following these events, Robert Chapek was subsequently replaced by the former long-term CEO, Robert Iger. Upon his return in November 2022, Iger initiated another reorganization and announced the departure of Kareem Daniel.

According to the pension fund, as details regarding underwhelming Disney+ subscriber growth and the company’s financial results emerged, Disney’s stock price experienced multiple shocks.

The complaint estimates that the proposed class for the lawsuit could potentially include hundreds or even thousands of members. The pension fund is seeking damages and injunctive relief based on its securities fraud allegations.

The fund and the proposed class are being represented by Robbins Geller Rudman & Dowd LLP and Pitta LLP.

The case, titled Local 272 Labor-Mgmt. Pension Fund v. The Walt Disney Co., is filed in the US District Court for the Central District of California under docket number 2:23-cv-03661. The complaint was filed on May 12, 2023.

New Walt Disney World Cast Member Nametags Debuting Today

New Disney World Cast Member nametags are debuting today! Cast Member nametags have been a time-honored Disney tradition for over 50 years at Walt Disney World and are a symbol that connects Cast Members to the guests and each other.

As a costume designer, Joshua Winchester shared his vision for designing the new Walt Disney World nametag, which was inspired by the combination of twinkly stars and pixie dust’s magic.

“The singular, golden star above Cinderella Castle represents our cast who are the guiding light of the Walt Disney World Resort,” said Joshua, “while the field of stars represents that little sprinkling of pixie dust our cast carry while making magic for our guests.”

The dreamy, misty blues were also inspired by the color palette from the Disney classic animated film, “Cinderella.” For the finishing touch, the nametag also features a glossy finish over the stars for a little glint and sparkle when the light catches.

Pog Juice Gelato Debuts at New Quick Service Spot in Hollywood Studios. POG Juice is famous here at Walt Disney World, especially for fans of Ohanas in the Polynesian resort. I grew up in Maui, HI where the drink was invented in 1971 at the Haleakala Dairy, where it became famous and started a worldwide trend of collecting milk caps from the milk cartons, even though the POG containers never actually had POG caps.

Here at Disney World, you can now get POG flavored Gelato at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. It is sold at the Gelato stand in the Muppet’s Courtyard next to Muppet Vision 3D. A scoop will cost you $7.50, while a double will only cost a dollar more for $8,50.

The flavor is right, with the tropical fruit flavor throughout the gelato. Who can resist passion-Orange-Guava juice, to begin with?

Makes 12 cups

Ingredients:

4 cups passion fruit juice
4 cups orange juice
4 cups guava juice

Directions:

Mix all ingredients together in a 1-gallon pitcher. Serve over ice in tall glasses.

Jack-Jack’s Num Num Cookie Returns to Hollywood Studios. Pixar Place opened in Disney’s Hollywood Studios and the opening meant the return of the Neighborhood Bakery and the Jack-Jack’s Num Num Cookie.

Jack-Jack’s Num Num Cookie Warm, Crunchy but Gooey Chocolate-Chip Cookie Tart $6.19 This is a fan favorite warm chocolate chip cookie, and it was nice to see the Neighborhood Bakery open again.

We got to check out the redesigned Pixar Place and walk through the Edna Mode Experience, meet Sully, and hang out with Frozone and Mr. & Mrs. Incredible while enjoying our Num Num cookie.

Crater’ Review: A Refreshing Twist on Disney’s Teen Sci-Fi Adventure. What if The Goonies, Stand By Me, Willow, and Flight of the Navigator were all filmed on the moon and set in the future?

With a dash of wholesomeness, that is much needed in today’s society, and while Disney hopes the film will be entertaining, thrilling, funny, and adventurous, Director Kyle Patrick Alvarez wants Crater to be an emotional experience for the audience.

Does it live up to all those movies, while taking us, the audience, along for a thrilling and fun ride? Kind of. The acting is well done with the lead role of Caleb played by Isaiah Russell-Bailey from the Netflix series “Family Reunion.”, Mckenna Grace plays Addison, the girl from Earth who joins the group consisting of Billy Barratt as Dylan, Orson Hong as Borney, and Thomas Boyce as Marcus.

This is the group of teens who will grow together, learn something about themselves, and maybe become better versions of themselves by the end of the movie. It is well cast, and you feel like there may be an honest friendship between the actors.

The standouts though are Borney and Marcus. The genuine feeling of caring and brotherhood is authentic and comes through in the performance. Which makes the film worth watching. Unfortunately, something must have been left on the cutting room floor, because their backstory is never fully developed, which is a shame for the audience. There is never enough time in films like Crater to have every character get full development.

There are moments while watching Crater when I was sucked into the experience of watching it, but could not get the videographer’s vision.

Crater’ Review: A Refreshing Twist on Disney’s Teen Sci-Fi Adventure

The look of the film has a weird, an almost digitally animated style that bothered me and took me out of it. This is not to say you won’t enjoy the look and feel though. With director of photography Jas Shelton, director Kyle Patrick Alvarez sought to create a very visceral, textured lunar environment unlike most contemporary space movies, which are often very clean and sterile. They succeed on all those fronts, but something still felt off.

Even with those few negative things, Crater manages to keep you on a thrill ride, while tugging at your heartstrings. This film, which is family-friendly, will keep the young ones entertained, but the older kids might go on an adventure and learn something about feelings, death, and emotions, and maybe learn how important friendship can be throughout life.

This film may grow on people, and turn into one of those classic movies like Stand By Me, which hangs like a ghost over Crater. By the end of Crater, we are left with most questions answered, that are asked during the film.

Overall Crater is a well-acted movie, with small issues regarding the cinematography. It hit all the emotions and gave us another coming-of-age tale that needed to be told. As a parent, I have no reservations about letting the whole family watch together but be prepared for some discussion about death and emotions that little ones may not be prepared for.

We give Crater 3.5 Moon Rocks out of 5. Crater is available to watch now on Disney +.

Scotti, Rpin Suwannath, Gordon Gray, Paris Latsis, and Terry Douglas.

“Crater” is the story of Caleb Channing (Russell-Bailey), who was raised in a lunar mining
colony and is about to be permanently relocated to an idyllic faraway planet following the death
of his father (Mescudi). But before leaving, to fulfill his dad’s last wish, he and his three best
friends, Dylan (Barratt), Borney (Hong) and Marcus (Boyce), and a new arrival from Earth,
Addison (Grace), hijacks a rover for one final adventure on a journey to explore a mysterious
crater.

Beginning May 23, 2023, Guests can purchase the 4-day, 4-Park Magic Ticket for $99 per day plus tax ($396 total plus tax), which includes one day of admission to each of the four theme parks (for a total of 4 admissions, on 4 separate days). No theme park reservations are needed.

Florida Resident Disney Summer Magic Ticket

Beginning May 16, 2023, Florida residents can purchase the Disney Summer Magic Ticket, which offers value and flexibility for their next adventure to Walt Disney World theme parks. Choose from a 4-day ticket for $58 per day plus tax ($229 total plus tax) or a 3-day ticket for $70 per day plus tax ($209 total plus tax). With this ticket, advance theme park reservations are required and are subject to availability.
