Disney Adventure Sailing Canceled in Singapore After Mechanical Issue
Disney Cruise Line guests aboard the Disney Adventure had their vacation plans unexpectedly docked this week after a 4-night sailing from Singapore was canceled due to a mechanical issue.
The sailing, which was scheduled to depart on Thursday, May 7, never left port. Guests had reportedly begun boarding around noon before learning later in the afternoon that the ship would not be able to sail as planned. According to Disney Cruise Line, teams were working to resolve the issue, but it could not be fixed within the required timeframe for the voyage to begin.
Disney is working directly with affected guests and offering a full refund for the canceled sailing, along with refunds for booked amenities. Guests are also receiving a 50% discount toward a future Disney Cruise Line sailing and a complimentary hotel stay for the night. Some guests have also reported receiving assistance for incidental expenses, including travel changes.
The cancellation came after guests had already had a short chance to experience portions of the ship while still docked, though onboard shops were reportedly not open before the sailing was called off. For families who had traveled with children, the disappointment was understandably a big wave to ride.
As of now, the next Disney Adventure sailing scheduled for Monday, May 11, is still expected to move forward. Disney has not yet shared additional details about the mechanical issue.

For the past decade, Disney Musicals in Schools has been helping Central Florida students find their spotlight, and this week, hundreds of young performers took center stage to celebrate the milestone in true Disney fashion.
Since launching in Orlando, Disney Musicals in Schools has helped schools create sustainable theater programs by providing free scripts, performance materials, and coaching support. The initiative is designed to help schools stage their very first productions while giving students hands-on experience with musical theater.
To mark the anniversary, participating students were invited to perform on the Walt Disney Theater stage at Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts during the annual Student Share event. The showcase gave students the chance to perform in a professional theater environment after spending months rehearsing their productions.
More than 200 Disney VoluntEARS attended the event to cheer on the young performers as they brought beloved Disney stories to life in front of friends, family, and fellow students.
According to Dr. Phillips Center Education Director Ryan Simpson, the impact of the program extends far beyond theater skills.
“A decade in, we’ve seen firsthand what happens when students are given the space to create,” Simpson shared. “Through our partnership with Disney, we’ve helped schools across Central Florida build lasting theatre programs that go beyond teaching performance. They shape how young people see themselves and the world around them.”
Disney says the program has already reached around 6,000 students across 36 schools throughout Central Florida over the last 10 years.
Tajiana Ancora-Brown, Director of External Affairs at Walt Disney World, said the initiative helps students build confidence and creativity through performing arts experiences.

Universal Orlando Announces Major Changes Coming to Horror Make-Up Show, Lost Continent, CityWalk, and More
Universal Orlando Resort is getting ready for a major wave of new experiences across the destination, and that means several longtime locations are preparing for big changes.
At Universal Studios Florida, the beloved Horror Make-Up Show will temporarily close beginning May 12, 2026, as Universal prepares to reimagine the fan-favorite attraction. The updated version is expected to open later this year and will feature a mix of classic and modern horror properties, along with new surprises. Universal says the refreshed show will still keep the comedic, irreverent spirit that has made the attraction such a longtime guest favorite, so it sounds like the scares will still come with plenty of laughs.
Over at Universal Islands of Adventure, even bigger changes are brewing in Lost Continent. Universal confirmed that venues and experiences within the land will permanently close in phases over the coming months to make way for an all-new themed area. That includes Mythos Restaurant, which is scheduled to close in 2027. For longtime Universal fans, this marks a major shift, as Lost Continent has been part of Islands of Adventure since the park opened in 1999. While Universal has not yet revealed what will replace it, the announcement confirms that a brand-new themed land is officially on the way.
Thunder Falls Terrace in Jurassic Park will also close this summer as Universal prepares to transform the location into a new dining concept. When it reopens in 2027, the restaurant will become the new signature full-service restaurant at Universal Islands of Adventure. That is a pretty big upgrade for a location many guests know best as a quick-service stop near Jurassic Park River Adventure.
CityWalk is also getting another tasty addition. Fat One’s Hot Dogs & Italian Ice, founded by *NSYNC member Joey Fatone and his manager Joe Mulvihill, is coming to Universal CityWalk. The new location will serve creative hot dogs, Italian ices, and more. It will replace Hot Dog Hall of Fame, which is set to close in July.
These updates join several previously announced projects already in the works, including Five Guys and Luke Combs’ Category 10 coming to CityWalk, along with Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift, a new high-speed roller coaster racing into Universal Studios Florida in 2027.
Universal says more details about these projects will be shared in the months ahead, but one thing is clear: the resort is not tapping the brakes anytime soon.
