General Joe Potter Ferryboat Returns to Service with Updated Look. William E. “Joe” Potter was an engineering and logistical planning genius, which is why Walt Disney recruited the retired United States Army major general to oversee the early construction of Walt Disney World in Florida. In this role, Joe ably guided the Herculean task of transforming 300 acres of Florida land into the Magic Kingdom, while also preserving the area’s ecology and beauty.

General Joe Potter the Ferry Boat, which transports guests daily between the Transportation and Ticket Center and Disney’s Magic Kingdom, has returned to service recently after getting a fresh coat of paint and general maintenance. Check out some of the images we got today of the refreshed look.

All Aboard!

Turn your travel into a treat on our fleet of boats that’s an attraction in itself.

Take in the scenery and relax with welcome breezes as you sail around Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake. Feel the wind in your hair and the magic in the air as you cruise Crescent Lake and Lake Hollywood. Water taxis and ferries sail to and from Magic Kingdom park. Most routes run on 15- to 30-minute intervals.

Construction Underway for Old Merida Meet & Greet Location Ahead of Encanto Retheme. Recently we saw Marida lose her long-time home at Disney’s Magic Kingdom. She is being displaced by a brand new Encanto Meet and Greet. Marida is now greeting guests at Liberty Square Gazebo. Her long-time home is now behind walls and is about to be torn down and rethemed.

At Magic Kingdom Park this fall, Mirabel from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ hit film “Encanto” will greet guests in Fairytale Garden surrounded by whimsical décor inspired by La Familia Madrigal. These new experiences follow the return of several Magic Kingdom character experiences including Pete’s Silly Sideshow, Enchanted Tales with Belle, Ariel in her underwater grotto, and the return of character dining at Cinderella’s Royal Table.

More character meets and greets are coming. Mark your calendars because you’ll be able to meet, hug and snap a photo with Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse in their platinum best in the Imagination! pavilion. They won’t be the only ones sparkling in honor of the celebration. Spaceship Earth will light up each night with special colors and lights accompanied by the Disney100 anthem, a unique rendition of “When You Wish Upon a Star.”

Fans of Figment will get the chance to hug the long-time EPCOT icon at the Imagination! pavilion beginning in late summer. Mickey Mouse and friends will also have a new home at Communicore Hall opening later this year as part of the EPCOT transformation.

ICON Park to host Summer Foodie Festival. One Pass = 11 restaurants, beer, and wine flights, and view atop The Wheel; Plus, proceeds help The Salvation Army.

ICON Park is launching a new creative foodie festival that’s serving up summer fun that’s sky high – with a ticket price that isn’t! The entertainment destination has challenged I-Drive chefs, local culinary stars, winemakers, spirit crafters, and brew masters to create a serious gastronomic festival taking place Sunday, July 30 from noon to 6 p.m.

The Great American Cookout will feature chef-inspired, gourmet versions of seasonal favorites, sampling flights of wine, spirits, and craft beers, live musical entertainment – and your own magnificent, 400-foot view from atop The Wheel.

With an affordable ticket for adults and children, combined with free parking, this event is part of ICON Park’s continued commitment to providing meaningful value to local families and visitors alike.

The event ticket offers all-inclusive access to a private party, including all of the food, drink and attractions below. Tickets are just $39.99 for adults and $9.99 for children ages 3 to 12 when purchased in advance. The pass includes:

11 dishes, one from each participating I-Drive restaurant
Beer tasting flight
Wine tasting flight
Samples of hard seltzers, craft beers and moonshine
Admission to enjoy The Wheel, the 400-ft. icon of the Orlando skyline

The event menu includes the chef’s creative gourmet versions of summer favorites such as:

Ole Red Orlando’s Austin-smoked brisket sliders with chorizo hot link, vinegar slaw, onion straws, and white bar-b-que sauce, all served on a hearty potato bun.
Brother Jimmy’s Low-Country Crawfish Boil features a seafood mix of crawfish, mussels, and shrimp with corn, potatoes, and sausage in a Louisiana-style Cajun spice, served with a garlic butter dipping sauce.
Sugar Factory’s homemade and slow-baked macaroni and cheese that’s panko crusted, deep fried, and served with a marinara dipping sauce.
Uncle Julio’s Tableside Guacamole with fresh Haas avocados, tomatoes, onions, cilantro, and jalapeños handmade in a traditional molcajete and served with fresh corn tortilla chips.

A portion of proceeds from The Great American Cookout event will be donated to The Salvation Army. This organization annually helps more than 23 million Americans overcome poverty, addiction and economic hardships through a range of social services. The organization provides food for the hungry, emergency relief for disaster survivors, rehabilitation for those suffering from drug and alcohol abuse, and clothing and shelter for people in need.

Guests must be 21+ to consume alcohol. The Great American Cookout is an expansion of ICON Park’s popular Sip N’ Savor event series.

Disney+ announced today that Marvel Studios’ “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” will begin streaming on Disney+ on August 2. Watch the TV spot and get ready for our beloved heroes’ arrival on the streaming service.

In Marvel Studios’ “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” our beloved band of misfits is settling into life on Knowhere. But it isn’t long before their lives are upended by the echoes of Rocket’s turbulent past. Peter Quill, still reeling from the loss of Gamora, must rally his team around him on a dangerous mission to save Rocket’s life—a mission that, if not completed successfully, could quite possibly lead to the end of the Guardians as we know them.

The film stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldaña, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, featuring Vin Diesel as Groot and Bradley Cooper as Rocket, Sean Gunn, Chukwudi Iwuji, Will Poulter and Maria Bakalova. James Gunn is the director and also wrote the screenplay. Kevin Feige produces with Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Nikolas Korda, Sara Smith, and Simon Hatt serving as executive producers.

Marvel Studios’ “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” comes exclusively to Disney+ on August 2, joining the other two films of the trilogy, “Guardians of the Galaxy” and “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.”

New UK Pavilion Collection Spotted At Epcot!

Check out the new UK Pavilion Collection featuring Mickey and Minnie that we found at Epcot! It features apparel, bags, kitchenware and more, take a look:

APPAREL

For apparel, we found a white spirit jersey with the United Kingdom flag on the back and a Mickey Mouse with the Epcot World Showcase logo on the front.

There is also a dark gray t-shirt with the London Bridge and Mickey and Minnie saying hi, a gray hoodie with Mickey inside a phone booth and a red baseball cap with Mickey and Minnie.

Marvel Actor Sean Gunn Criticizes Bob Iger for Comments on Actor & Writer Strikes

Actor Sean Gunn, known for his role in the “Guardians of the Galaxy” franchise, expressed his criticism towards Disney CEO Bob Iger. This came in response to Iger’s remarks during an interview with CNBC, where he referred to the demands of writers and actors as “not realistic.”

I think that when Bob Iger talks about what a shame it [the strike] is, he needs to remember, in 1980, CEOs like him made 30 times what their lowest worker was making. Now, Bob Iger makes 400 times what his lowest worker is, and I think that’s a f—— shame, Bob — and maybe you should take a look in the mirror and ask yourself, why is that? And not only why is that, is it okay? Is it morally okay? Is it ethically okay that you make that much more than your lowest worker? And if so, why? Why is that okay? If your response is that’s just the way business is done now, that’s just the way corporations work now, well, that sucks, and that makes you a s—– person, if that’s your answer. So you should come up with a better answer than that.

Sean Gunn has made significant contributions to Disney and Marvel through his portrayal of Kraglin Obfonteri in the “Guardians of the Galaxy” trilogy, as well as his motion capture performance for Rocket. Notably, he is the brother of James Gunn, the acclaimed director and writer behind the franchise.

The Walt Disney Company’s 100th-anniversary celebration is currently underway, and I’m thrilled to announce that Disney100 will kick off at Walt Disney World Resort in late September! Throughout the year, we have been honoring the fans and storytellers who have brought the magic of Disney to life over the past century. It has been a joy to witness the special surprises at Disney parks worldwide, allowing fans and families to relive cherished Disney memories and create new heartwarming experiences.

As you may have heard, EPCOT will be the focal point of the Disney100 celebration at Walt Disney World, commemorating not only a hundred years of magic and innovation but also marking the completion of the park’s multi-year transformation.
