Ryan Reynolds recently shared that filming for Deadpool 3 has successfully concluded, overcoming setbacks caused by the entertainment industry strikes last year. Taking to social media on January 24, Reynolds confirmed the completion of shooting for the film, accompanied by a post showcasing a picture of the Marvel antihero’s pelvis and blood-streaked belt, accompanied by a detailed caption.
“The suit hides the blood,” reads the tweet. “Also sweat… But today, with Deadpool wrapping, it’s mostly tears. A giant and forever thanks to the cast and crew of our film who battled wind, rain, strikes and @RealHughJackman … all under the stalwart leadership of @ShawnLevyDirect. I got to make a movie with my closest pals and that doesn’t happen very often. See ya July 26th… “
Deadpool 3 brings back Hugh Jackman as Wolverine for the third installment in the franchise. Rumors have been swirling that Taylor Swift will take part in the film as Dazzler and similar rumors place Channing Tatum in the film as Gambit. We will have to wait till July 26th to see if there is truth to the gossip.

Comcast, the parent company of Universal Theme Parks, has released the latest earnings report for the fourth quarter of 2023. According to the report, the theme parks division concluded the fourth quarter with a remarkable financial performance, setting new records in revenue and profitability. These fourth quarter earnings demonstrate significant gains in both domestic and international markets, driven by popular attractions and increased visitor numbers.
In the final quarter of 2023, Universal Theme Parks experienced a notable increase in revenue. The revenue for the theme parks segment reached $2,371 million, compared to $2,114 million in the same quarter of the previous year, marking a substantial increase in revenue of 12.2%.
One of the standout performers in this period was Universal Studios Hollywood, largely due to the success of Super Nintendo World which opened in January 2023. Universal Orlando Resort experienced a slight dip in revenue compared to Q4 2022, yet it continued to perform above pre-pandemic levels of 2019. It should also be noted the new Epic Universe theme park is set to open at Universal Orlando Resort in 2025, which will be the home of Universal Orlando’s Super Nintendo World.
The adjusted EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization) for the theme parks was an impressive $872 million in Q4 2023, up from $782 million in Q4 2022, an increase of 11.2%. EBITDA is a metric that evaluates the efficacy of a company’s operations by evaluating its cash flow.
This growth in EBITDA, the highest on record for a fourth quarter, was driven by the increase in revenue, which more than offset higher operating expenses. The operating expenses for theme parks were $1,499 million in Q4 2023, compared to $1,332 million in the same period last year, marking an increase of 12.5%. The rise in operating expenses is primarily linked to costs associated with increased guest attendance, a positive indicator of the park division’s popularity.
For the full year, Universal Theme Parks’ adjusted EBITDA increased by 24.7% to a remarkable $3.3 billion. This yearly performance underscores the division’s strong recovery trajectory and operational efficiency. Looking forward, Universal Theme Parks seems well-positioned to continue this growth trend, supported by robust demand, strategic expansions, and a focus on enhancing guest experiences.
The fourth quarter of 2023 has been exceptionally fruitful for Universal Theme Parks, setting new records and demonstrating the brand’s enduring appeal and operational excellence. With innovative attractions like Super Nintendo World driving growth and a solid foundation in both domestic and international markets, the future looks bright for Universal theme parks.

Disneyland Pledges $100 Million for Anaheim if Expansion Moves Forward
The Disneyland Resort is pledging over $100 million for Anaheim streets, parking, and affordable housing as part of a proposed agreement for the resort expansion project.
According to the Orange County Register, Disney will commit to investing at least $1.9 billion into the Disneyland Resort over the next decade, along with providing millions more for housing and parks.
A development agreement was presented on Tuesday at a City Council workshop. It would give Disney flexibility to choose where it builds new theme park areas, hotels and dining within its existing footprint. It would also guarantee the city the continued investment into the resort, along with $30 million for affordable housing and $8 million for parks and money for nearby road improvements.
Half of the $30 million for affordable housing would be paid in the first year and the rest in five years. The $8 million for parks would be for the city to use at its discretion. As for the road improvements, Disney proposed to buying some streets from the city for $40 million.
“We listened to Anaheim’s leaders and worked hard to address what is important for the city,” Ken Potrock, president of the Disneyland Resort, said in a statement. “We are proud that DisneylandForward will provide many important benefits directly to the residents of Anaheim.”
DisneylandForward is the Disneyland Resort’s proposal to update the resort over the coming years. It could be one of the largest developments in Anaheim. The expansion would allow for more integrated, immersive experiences at Disneyland.
There will be another workshop to discuss the project next month. Hearings are expected to be held in April and May and the City Council is expected to vote on the project by spring.

In honor of Black History Month, Disneyland will feature Celebrate Soulfully offerings, including “Celebrate Gospel” concerts, in February!
Throughout the year, guests can discover Celebrate Soulfully experiences inspired by Black heritage and culture, such as the opportunity to meet Ariel from the live-action film “The Little Mermaid,” Tiana’s Palace restaurant, the “Warriors of Wakanda: The Disciplines of the Dora Milaje” experience and more.
A resort tradition for more than a decade, the “Celebrate Gospel” concerts return to the Fantasyland Theatre at Disneyland Park, headlined by Marvin Sapp on Saturday, Feb. 17, and Tasha Cobbs Leonard on Saturday, Feb. 24. This annual tribute to Gospel music brings together award-winning artists and community choirs from across Southern California.
From Feb. 1 through 29, the soulful celebration expands during Black History Month with limited-time menu items, such as the fried chicken bowl and sweet potato pie casserole from Troubadour Tavern.
