Adventureland Treehouse First Look from Disneyland
The new Adventureland Treehouse is opening in Disneyland on November 10, 2023. The treehouse originally opened in 1962 as the Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse, then was reimagined into the Tarzan Treehouse in 1999. In 2021 the treehouse closed for another reimagining.
Adventureland Treehouse will pay tribute to the original treehouse Walt Disney and his Imagineers built in 1962 in honor of the movie “Swiss Family Robinson.”
Among the tree’s massive boughs, you’ll find the mother’s music den, the sons’ nature room and the daughter’s astronomer’s loft. Firm on the ground will be a kitchen and dining room, plus the father’s art studio that will display hand-drawn sketches and paintings of each room.

Disney100 The Exhibition to Open in May 2024 at Union Station in Kansas City
Today, in the very same spaces once trodden by a young Walt Disney, Union Station authorities, in collaboration with the Walt Disney Archives, unveiled the launch date for the Kansas City installment of Disney100: The Exhibition, sponsored by Bank of America.
Curated by the Walt Disney Archives and Semmel Exhibitions, this remarkable exhibition is set to debut at Union Station’s cutting-edge 20,000-square-foot Bank of America Gallery on May 24, 2024, and is poised to attract eager attendees from all across the United States and beyond.
“Our leadership team has worked tirelessly over the last three years to ensure we were able to bring Walt and his story back to Kansas City, where his animation career began,” said George Guastello, president and CEO of Union Station.
“We have a long-time partnership with Semmel Exhibitions, and when we heard The Walt Disney Company was creating an exhibition celebrating its 100th anniversary, we knew we had to bring it here—to Kansas City—where the roots of Walt Disney run deep.”
In his Kansas City days, Walt Disney not only crafted his inaugural commercial film but also crossed paths with Ub Iwerks, an acclaimed artist and Disney Legend hailing from Kansas City. Their shared spirit of innovation, groundbreaking technology, and extraordinary storytelling would play a pivotal role in establishing the creative benchmarks for the company founded by Walt and his brother Roy O. Disney in 1923.
Kaye Malins from the Walt Disney Hometown Museum in Marceline, Missouri, also graced the occasion, sharing stories about Walt’s life in both Marceline and Kansas City.
“Guests will step into Disney100: The Exhibition and experience 100 years of Disney history like never before,” said Becky Cline, Director, the Walt Disney Archives. We are excited to bring the tour to Kansas City—a place that was instrumental in Walt’s life. It was here where he forged his storytelling skills and his creative passion.
