New Permit Hints at Wilderness Lodge Expansion
Disney has ignited speculation about a potential expansion at Wilderness Lodge by filing a construction permit for an undisclosed project in the resort’s vicinity.

What has piqued the interest of fans and industry insiders alike is the permit’s extended expiration date, stretching to March 31, 2027. This unusually long timeframe, combined with the involvement of Disney’s trusted construction partner, Balfour Beatty, and the project’s oversight by Walt Disney Imagineering, suggests a significant undertaking is in the works.

The permit outlines a broad area along Wilderness Way, a location that doesn’t correspond to any existing property records at Walt Disney World. This address is notably linked to the abandoned Reflections Disney Vacation Club project, where it served as the main access road. The permit, which covers a range of addresses from 570 W. Wilderness Way to 728 W. Wilderness Way and 910 Timberline Dr., describes the work as “site and facility improvements.” Given the proximity of this area to the existing Copper Creek Cabins, speculation is mounting that Disney may be planning additional Disney Vacation Club units.

Intriguingly, yesterday saw another permit filed for Wilderness Lodge involving a different major contractor, Adena. While Disney has yet to officially announce any refurbishment, expansion, or updates to the resort, this flurry of permit activity has undoubtedly sparked interest and curiosity among fans and industry observers alike.
