Disney Permanently Closes Personalized Avatar Figure Experience in Pandora – The World of Avatar

It looks like one of Pandora’s most “out-of-this-world” experiences has officially gone extinct. The personalized Avatar figure experience inside Windtraders at Disney’s Animal Kingdom has permanently closed as of October 1, 2025.

This unique offering allowed guests to become one with the Na’vi—well, at least in collectible form. Guests would sit for a quick face scan before choosing details like body type, hair style, and eye color to create a custom Avatar action figure modeled after themselves. Once finished, the mini-me Na’vi would be packaged and ready to take home as a one-of-a-kind souvenir straight from the Valley of Mo’ara.

Unfortunately, despite its creative concept and ties to Pandora’s immersive storytelling, the experience never quite achieved banshee-level popularity. Earlier this summer, prices were even slashed from $79.99 to $50 in an attempt to boost interest. Now, the station sits shuttered behind black curtains inside the Windtraders gift shop, with themed baskets and décor filling the space where the scanners and screens once stood.

Festival of Fantasy Steps Aside for ABC Holiday Parade Filming at Magic Kingdom

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas at Magic Kingdom — and that means Main Street U.S.A. is about to turn into a full-blown film set once again. Disney has quietly removed the Festival of Fantasy Parade from the schedule on November 8 and 9, a sure sign that it’s time to roll cameras on the ABC Disney Parks Holiday Specials featuring Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade.

While Disney hasn’t officially confirmed the taping, this timing perfectly matches the pattern of previous years, when early November dates were used for filming the televised holiday spectaculars that air on ABC during Thanksgiving and Christmas week.

Guests who visit the park on those dates might just find themselves in the middle of some TV magic. In past years, Disney has run two showings of the Christmastime Parade during filming — usually around 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. — complete with crowd control, pauses for retakes, and the occasional surprise celebrity performance.

Adding to the holiday buzz, production for this year’s specials has already begun across Walt Disney World. Earlier this week, a performance was filmed at Animal Kingdom’s Tree of Life featuring Mariah the Scientist, confirming that the cameras are rolling for this year’s seasonal showcase.

Magic Kingdom Still Reigns Supreme as World’s Most Visited Theme Park in 2024 TEA Report

The numbers are in, and once again, the crown belongs to the Kingdom. According to the newly released 2024 TEA Global Experience Index, Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom remains the most visited theme park on the planet, drawing an incredible 17.8 million guests last year. Looks like the Most Magical Place on Earth is still living up to its name!

Across the rest of Walt Disney World, attendance continued to climb like Dumbo on a windy day. EPCOT soared to 12.1 million visitors (up 1.3%), Hollywood Studios welcomed 10.3 million (up 0.3%), and Animal Kingdom roared to 8.8 million (also up 0.3%). Altogether, the four Florida parks attracted around 49 million guests in 2024 — a steady recovery that shows the magic is stronger than ever.

Globally, the top five theme parks stayed familiar: Magic Kingdom held the top spot, followed by Disneyland in California, Universal Studios Japan, Tokyo Disneyland, and Shanghai Disneyland. Worldwide, attendance among the top 25 theme parks climbed roughly 2.4%, reflecting a strong year for travel and tourism.

Over in the rival corner, Universal Orlando’s parks saw a small dip — 9.6 million at Universal Studios Florida and 9.8 million at Islands of Adventure — but don’t expect that to last long. With Epic Universe now open, Universal is expected to rocket up the charts in next year’s report.

In terms of market share, Disney still rules Orlando with about 68% of total theme park attendance, while Universal holds around 26% and SeaWorld swims in at 6%. Universal’s steady rise over the last decade shows just how much the competition is heating up in Central Florida’s theme park showdown.

For guests, this means two things: the crowds aren’t going anywhere, and neither is the investment. Disney’s got plenty of new magic on the horizon with projects like Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and the upcoming Tropical Americas expansion at Animal Kingdom. Meanwhile, Universal’s Epic Universe is already drawing record-breaking attention. The battle for your vacation days (and dollars) is officially back in full swing.

Universal Orlando fans hoping to take their Annual Passes on a warp pipe into Epic Universe next year might want to press pause. The resort released its full slate of 2026 ticket offerings today, and while there’s plenty to get excited about, one detail stands out: Epic Universe remains a separate experience—at least for now.

Don't Expect Epic Universe on Universal Annual Passes in 2026

Among the lineup are discounted one-day tickets for current Universal Orlando Annual Passholders to visit Epic Universe throughout 2026. This special perk is a nice gesture, but it also signals that the highly anticipated fourth theme park won’t be included in the Annual Pass structure next year.

Epic Universe only opened this past May, and the crowds haven’t slowed down one bit. Attractions like Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge, Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry, and Mine-Cart Madness regularly see wait times well over two hours—sometimes climbing north of three. Given the park’s popularity, it makes sense that Universal isn’t ready to open the floodgates by adding it to Annual Pass access just yet.

There’s still a glimmer of hope for the future, though. Universal has quietly introduced a new 4-Park Park-to-Park ticket that allows guests to hop between Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure, Volcano Bay, and Epic Universe. That’s the first major step toward integrating Epic into the resort’s broader ticketing system—and possibly a preview of what a future 4-Park Annual Pass could look like.

For now, Epic Universe Passholder perks are only confirmed through the end of 2025. If those benefits continue into next year—or if Universal sees the 4-park tickets working smoothly without spiking wait times at Epic—we might see Annual Pass access arrive as soon as 2027.

Filed as part of the October 24, 2025 CFTOD Board of Supervisors meeting agenda, the document refers to Project L, widely believed to be the internal codename for the upcoming Monstropolis area. The report confirms that Walt Disney Parks and Resorts U.S., Inc. will design, permit, and fully fund new electrical systems to power the land—including an underground duct bank, directional drilling, and three separate electric service yards positioned around the development.

The most exciting detail? The filing contains faint but distinct track layout plans for the new Monsters, Inc. coaster, expected to be themed to the iconic Door Vault chase sequence from Pixar’s hit film.
