Beginning today, you may notice more unique $1 coins at Walt Disney World Resort.

Disney is working with the U.S. Mint to participate in a circulation pilot of the 2009 Native American dollar coins. The coin’s design is based on the theme of agriculture. You’ll notice a Native American woman planting seeds in a field and the inscriptions UNITED STATE OF AMERICA and $1 on the reverse side.

Disney World spreads the wealth with its campaign cash

Walt Disney World isn’t taking many chances when it comes to the 2010 elections.

The giant resort was generous to both the Republican Party of Florida and the Florida Democratic Party during the third quarter of the year, new state records show.

Disney gave the Republicans more money in direct contributions: $90,000 vs. $50,000 for the Democrats. But the Democratic Party got more freebies from the resort: $121,161.60 worth of rooms, food and tickets compared with $47,670.60 for the state GOP. (The vast majority of the freebies to the Democrats — $110,000 – went toward the party’s three-day convention earlier this month at Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club.)

The bipartisan check-writing shouldn’t come as a surprise. Florida has wide-open race for governor in 2010, with neither party’s likely nominee – Republican Attorney General Bill McCollum and Democratic Chief Financial Officer Alex Sink – a clear frontrunner.

My family and I always try to goto the CP a few times while visiting..

Liberty Tree Tavern will open as a character meal for breakfast, lunch, and dinner during the Crystal Palace refurbishment closure.

Character meals will be available from January 3, 2010, through February 14, 2010. Meals will be family style. Minnie, Pluto, Chip (my fav) and Dale will be around for the meet and greet, not sure what happened to Goofy…

All characters are subject to change.

Toy Story Mania Game Review

Toy Story Mania game coming to Nintendo Wii 400
Toy Story Mania game coming to Nintendo Wii 400

Toy-Story-Mania-game-coming-to-Nintendo-Wii-400

While going in you may be thinking… the idea sounds awesome to play a game based off the ride, but unfortunately in your imagination is where that idea will have to remain.

Toy Story Mania lacks the fun and innocence of the films, the clever humour that references the classic toys of your youth.

I felt like I was in the 80’s again with the paper red & blue paper 3D glasses…ugh Luckily we have the ones from Toy Story 1 & 2 in 3D, but I will be honest it doesn’t help.

The game supposedly is inspired by the new midways at Disney’s California and Florida theme parks, but it’s nothing more than a collection of poorly re-created carnival-themed minigames. Throw darts at balloons, throw pies at targets, throw rings at objects.

Save your money, take your kids to the fair and experience more than what this game offers.

Trains Involved In Disney Monorail Crash Retired

Walt Disney World is planning to retire two monorail trains that were involved in the July 5 accident that killed a driver.

The pink and purple lines will be out of service to pay respect to the cast members involved in the crash, including 21-year-old Austin Wuennenberg, who died.

The new train will be the teal line, which will be compiled from the parts of the pink and purple trains that were not damaged when the two trains collided over the summer. Before the crash, Disney had 12 trains operating.

Disney expects the new teal line to begin carrying guests sometime in the fall, after it undergoes extensive safety testing.

Disney Wonder Receives Magical Makeover

Today I have a quick update with a behind-the-scenes look at the magical makeover the Disney Wonder is currently undergoing during dry dock in Freeport, Bahamas. Among the highlights is a brand new venue called Outlook Café. Below you can see a photo taken this past week.

Located on deck 10, the new venue will be a retreat for guests to relax and enjoy a beverage or cocktail as they peer out through floor-to-ceiling, curved glass windows.

Outlook Café will become the perfect place to take in the breathtaking vistas and natural wonders of Alaska when the Disney Wonder makes its way to America’s last frontier in the summer of 2011. Departing out of Vancouver, the Disney Wonder will offer seven-night cruises to Alaska from May 3 to September 6, calling on Tracy Arm, Skagway, Juneau and Ketchikan.
