Disney Saratoga Springs New Pool & Restaurant

Some good news for those Disney Vacation Club Saratoga Springs Owners..It’s gonna be a big upgrade:

WDW Daily News is reporting that the Saratoga Springs will be getting a new pool in the next year:

Work is scheduled to begin this spring on a new feature pool in the Paddock area of Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa, building on the resort’s turn-of-the-20th-century, upstate New York theme.Plans call for the new pool, scheduled for completion in mid-2011, to replace the Paddock area’s 1,100-square-foot quiet pool with a 3,300-square-foot zero-depth-entry pool, a 146-foot water slide, a 1,600-square-foot wet-play area, an expanded pool deck spanning more than 11,000 square feet and, for hungry swimmers and sunbathers who’d rather not make the trip across the lake to Artist’s Palette, an on-site, quick-service-dining location.

The Disney Food Blog is also reporting there is talk about a new quick service dining location:

The quick-service location will likely be a “burgers and fries” place, but with the addition, guests won’t need to walk across campus to the main Springs area or Artist’s Palette for food. From the artist’s rendering below, it does look like it might be more than just your standard pool bar… .

I am glad to see Disney updating their Disney Vacation Club Resort.

Walt Disney in Rio de Janeiro, circa 1941

Great collection of Walt Disney visting Rio de Janeiro in 1941. Follow along as he hangs out and takes video from the beach. Found this article while hanging out in the Micechat forums.

There are many pictures of Walt Disney now available on web sites, so many that it’s more and more difficult to find never-seen-before pictures of him. I mean, real good ones, of good quality and shot by a great photographer.

These pictures were shot by a LIFE Magazine photographer who was with Walt and his team of animators during their 1941 tour in South America. Most of them were color pictures and definitely great.

Details emerge of alleged Disney molestation

More details are emerging from this case, this article was reported just a little while ago from the OC Register.

Detectives in Santa Barbara County were investigating a separate case in late 2009 when they uncovered the alleged molestation that took place nearly 20 years ago at the Disneyland Hotel involving a former youth baseball coach and one of his players, authorities said.

Disney could go after you for posting vacation videos online

Hmm this article makes you wonder when you are posting your vacation videos from Disney on your You Tube or even U Stream if Disney could sue you for intellectual property rights.

Lots of people use YouTube and other video sharing sites to upload videos taken on their vacations. But when it comes to footage of your last trip to Disneyland, a park run by corporate masters who are famously vigilant in protecting their intellectual rights with lawsuits, you may want to keep those videos to yourself.

As it turns out, corporate lawyers for theme parks have every right to come down on you like a ton of bricks for posting videos of their client’s lucrative creations, including banjo-playing bears or live versions of Beauty and the Beast. Indeed, you could theoretically get sued for posting a video of your daughter’s first ride on Peter Pan’s Flight and sharing it with everyone you know.

“Disney theme parks are tremendously popular as places where guests create lasting memories with family and friends using media such as videos,” began the response from a spokesperson for Disney Parks. And then: “In instances when uploaded video violates our intellectual property rights we have options to protect it.”

Adventures by Disney Introduces an Exciting Lineup of Value Itineraries Featuring Exclusive Access and More ‘On Your Own Time’ for Travelers

Adventures by Disney, named the World’s Leading Luxury Tour Operator by the 2009 World Travel Awards, adds a new line of itineraries to its award-winning list of family vacations for summer 2010. Known as the Gateway Collection, these itineraries provide guests with more time on their own to explore the destinations and sites at their leisure.  In conjunction with the added time, travelers receive the benefits of Adventures by Disney’s highly-trained Adventure Guides who are the concierges for each trip and are always available to provide recommendations and schedule reservations so guests receive the most during their vacation. Additionally, the Gateway Collection features comfortable lodging and is priced as a value option for its select destinations, which makes traveling the world even more affordable.

Departing in summer 2010, these itineraries feature, “Gateway to London and Paris,” “Gateway to Italy” and “Gateway to Costa Rica” with dates in June, July, August and September. Guests may visit www.AdventuresbyDisney.com to learn more about the Gateway Collection vacations.

“We are constantly working to create new products that further accommodate guests’ vacation preferences and lifestyles and provide a range of itineraries to choose from, such as our high-end Signature Collection itineraries and most recently, our Adventures by Disney/Disney Cruise Line Mediterranean experience,” said Karl Holz, President of Disney Cruise Line & New Vacation Operations. “Our new Gateway Collection is ideal for guests looking for a vacation that balances just the right amount of leisure time and freedom to explore destinations on their own with the benefits of Adventures by Disney’s guided tours and VIP hassle-free travel.”

Gateway to Adventure

Designed from Adventures by Disney’s current model, the Gateway Collection includes guided group vacations similar to the classic and signature itineraries at a lower cost while also featuring more free time. Guests will enjoy activities available as part of the itinerary, such as climbing the bell tower of Notre Dame in Paris and also have the flexibility to spend the afternoon exploring more of what interests them in the iconic destination at their leisure. Travelers are able to enjoy more options at a value price.

All Gateway Collection itineraries feature Adventures by Disney‘s special touches called the “Disney Difference” and some VIP access into popular tourist attractions. On “Gateway to Costa Rica” guests are treated to a new destination that is not available on the classic itinerary. Families will become immersed in their surroundings when they embark on a jungle cruise through Tortuguero National Park with a naturalist, exploring the many canals and rich wildlife of the Mangrove.

For families interested in exploring Italy’s ancient wonders, but hesitant because of a lengthy time commitment, “Gateway to Italy” offers a slightly shorter itinerary that provides travelers with a comprehensive overview of the culture and history of the destination.

The Gateway Collection includes the following 2010 destinations and dates:

  • “Gateway to London and Paris,” June 25, July 5, July 16 and August 2
  • “Gateway to Italy,” June 24, July 15 and August 8
  • “Gateway to Costa Rica,” June 27, July 16, August 7 and an adult-only departure September 4
