“Toy Story 3, ” a computer-animated film produced by Pixar Animation Studio, will premiere on the big screen in Taiwan, according to an executive of the studio’s parent company.

“‘Toy Story 3’ will hit local screens June 16 this year, which is two days prior to its U.S. release, ” Kiki Yu, a senior marketing manager of Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures (Taiwan) Division, said at a press briefing in Taipei Sunday.

“People in Taiwan will be the first to see the film, ” said Vivienne Tung, the public relations supervisor of the Taiwan division.

Earthquake at Disneyland closes Parks - Collection of News Stories

Collection of articles talking about the Earthquake at Disneyland this evening.

Earthquake at Disneyland: What happens after the ground shakes at the ‘Happiest Place on Earth’ from the Examiner:

Whenever there is an earthquake at the Happiest Place on Earth there is anything but chaos. Even after the 7.1 today that was felt all the way at the Mouse House, precautions are put in place. The Walt Disney Corporation takes the safety of the guests very seriously and without a doubt has a plan in place to help their guests be safe and get home safely. One of the few places to be concerned, there is plenty of cast member training to make sure every kid is safe.

What happens after an earthquake shakes the Disneyland Resort?

First, there is the immediate concern of getting the guests out of the rides safely. Bringing in security along with the help of cast members, people on the rides are removed and moved to a safe location. Any immediate injuries are addressed (thankfully there were none to report today.)

Also anyone waiting for a ride will be asked to return at a later time as the ride will be closed to the public immediately. As safety is important, the ride must be inspected to make sure the attraction is safe for everyone to continue. An inspector then must look over the ride for any issues and make sure it is safe for use.

One by one the attraction rides will be checked and made sure they are safe and once the inspection passes, the guests are allowed to return and will reopen. This process is done fairly quickly as the inspectors know what they are looking for and the designs of the attractions cater to earthquakes movements.

Disneyland feels Baja California earthquake of 7.2 from The Disney Blog:

A 6.9 7.2 (just revised) strength earthquake hit just south of the US border in Baja California. At least five after-shocks have been recorded in the following minutes including one ranking 5.1. Meanwhile a 4.1 earthquake struck in the Sacramento area.

I’m happy my wife and kid returned from SoCal last night, hopefully there are no injuries and property damage is light from this quake. Twin 6.9 quakes struck Northridge, CA in 1994 causing severe damage to a number of properties, 72 deaths, and thousands of injuries. That was the largest quake I ever experienced and the one that caused the most damage to Disneyland.

After the Northridge earthquake Disneyland revised their policies regarding quakes. They now conduct mandatory evacuations of every attraction until they can be inspected for damage. That’s precisely what happened today after this quake.

There have been conflicting reports of guests caught in elevators at the Disneyland hotel. Some are reporting that Disneyland Security called it in and others say that Disney denies reporting that.

BREAKING NEWS: 6.9 earthquake hits Baja California, felt in Los Angeles from Gather.com:

A 6.9 Richter Scale earthquake erupted, its epicenter about 108 miles east/southeast of Tijuana, Mexico, in Baja California. The quake shook about half an hour ago on this Sunday afternoon and could be felt in Southern California, in both Los Angeles and San Diego.

Skyscrapers in both cities gyrated as the shaker took aim, while its aftershocks did even more rocking. The original earthquake lasted a full minute.

No injuries have been reported as of this report, but KABC in Los Angeles did broadcast that the Disneyland Hotel in Anaheim was affected because guests were stuck in one of their elevators that had stopped when the quake struck. Disneyland has been closed for security purposes.

The LA Fire Department is on alert.

Earthquake magnitude 7.2 hits Mexico and southern California from the Guardian.co.uk

A 7.2 magnitude earthquake struck last night just south of the US-Mexico border, rattling buildings as far away as Los Angeles and closing rides at Disneyland.

The earthquake struck at 3.40pm (10.40pm GMT) in Baja California, Mexico, about 19 miles (30km) south-east of Mexicali, according to the US Geological Survey. The area has been hit by magnitude 3.0 quakes all week.

It was felt for about 40 seconds in Tijuana, Mexico, causing buildings to sway and knocking out power in parts of the city.

Tremors were felt across Southern California and Arizona, but there were no immediate reports of serious damage.

Strong tremors were reported in the Coachella Valley and Riverside, California. The earthquake shook buildings on the west side of Los Angeles and in the San Fernando valley.

The LA fire department began checking buildings and bridges for possible structural damage and checking reports of people stuck in lifts, but no damage has been reported. Rides were temporarily closed at Disneyland in Anaheim, Orange County.

Across the western US, dozens of people reported feeling the quake on the US Geological Survey Did you feel it? website. It was felt as far north as Santa Barbara, USGS seismologist Susan Potter said.

“I’m shaking like a leaf … the pool water was going everywhere,” Jean Nelson in Indio, near Palm Springs, told Reuters.

Another Walt Disney World Bus Crash

Orlando Sentinel Reporting

A Disney bus driver has been charged with careless driving after two passenger vehicles were struck by the bus shortly before noon on Saturday.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, bus driver Fredrick Cassens, 81, of Auburndale struck the back of a 2009 Chevy sport utility vehicle after failing to see that the car was stopped at a stoplight. That impact caused the Chevy to hit the back of a 1999 GMC van, also a Disney vehicle.

An initial check of Cassens’ driving record indicates only one infraction, a 2004 charge of failing to obey a traffic-control device in Osceola County. He admitted guilt and paid a fine.

The accident occurred at East Buena Vista Drive and World Drive.

There are no reports of injuries, and WESH.com is reporting that 19 people were on board the Disney bus.

The crash is the third such event on the theme park’s property in the past two weeks, the most recent involving 9-year-old Chase Brubaker of Pinellas County, who was killed Thursday after his bicycle drifted into the side of a Disney bus at Fort Wilderness Resort.
