Marvel Fan Made Avengers Trailer

Marvel Fan Made Avengers Trailer

What if… the Avengers movie was created years before the actual comic book?

Lost in the annals of time and space, comes this magnificent motion picture of epic proportions. Taking a page from such horror classics as “Frankenstein Meets the Wolfman” and “House of Frankenstein,” Timely Atlas Studios (the precursor to Marvel Studios), created the first superhero movie team-up. “The Avengers” featured an awesome array of characters such as Captain America, Thor, and Iron Man in a larger-than-life battle against evil aliens from the planet Skrull. Face front true believers, this one is for the funny books!

Disneyland resumes wooden toy gun sales

Disneyland resumes wooden toy gun sales

This interesting article comes to us from the OC Register.

Disneyland recently began selling wooden toy guns again, about nine years after pulling them off of store shelves.

Disney officials decided to resume sales of the toy guns, which are now orange and green, because of customers’ requests, said Betsy Sanchez, a Disneyland Resort spokeswoman.

Disneyland had continued selling plastic guns, including space-like and pirate-themed ones, Sanchez said.

The new toys are big sellers, she said.“They are so incredible popular they often sell out,” Sanchez said.

She declined to reveal the number of guns sold.

Disney stopped selling the historic, 1800s-style guns in 2001 when California legislators passed a law requiring all toy guns to be brightly colored to avoid being mistaken for real weapons.

What’s New Walt Disney World- Lots-O’ Huggin’ Bear

What's New Walt Disney World- Lots-O' Huggin' Bear

Walt Disney World Resort is the place where guests can interact with all of their favorite characters from Disney-Pixar films.
From attractions to parades, there are so many ways in which these characters and films are brought to life.
And with the recent release of “Toy Story 3”, Disney’s Hollywood Studios welcomes Lots-O’ Huggin’ Bear!

Disney World offers passholders screening of ‘Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue’

Disney World offers passholders screening of ‘Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue’

Great news for pass holders from Kristin Ford at The Daily Disney.

For the third consecutive year, Walt Disney World passholders will be able to see an advance screening of the newest direct-to-DVD Tinker Bell movie.

Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue will be shown at 10 a.m., 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Sept. 11 and 12 at Hollywood Studios. For the past two years, screenings have been in Magic Kingdom’s Exhibition Hall, but it looks like renovations have forced the change in venue.

This preview is for passholders only, and seating is limited to those who reserve it online at Disney’s passholder website. Adults can claim children ages 3 to 17 as their guests when making reservations, but the kids still must be passholders and show valid passes and the confirmation slip at the time of check-in. This is a welcome change and should help many families who were frustrated by the tedious reservation process in the past that required each family member to log in and reserve a seat. (Children younger than 3 must sit on an adult’s lap.)

Disney World Attendance Declines Slightly

Disney World Attendance Declines Slightly

This article comes to us from WESH in Orlando.

Walt Disney World saw slight declines in park attendance over the past few months, Disney said on Tuesday.

Theme park attendance at the company’s domestic parks fell 3 percent overall in the three months ending on July 3, the Walt Disney Company said as it announced third quarter financial results. Walt Disney World attendance dropped 2 percent while Disneyland saw a 4 percent decrease in visitors.

Disney said the fall in park attendance was in part due to a shift in timing of the Easter holiday in relation to the company’s financial reporting periods. Disney estimated that park attendance only fell one percent from year-to-year after the holiday period is taken into account.

Despite lower numbers, Disney President and CEO Bob Iger said the debut of the World of Color show at Disney’s California Adventure in Anaheim has drawn record crowds.

Park guests did spend 5 percent more in Q3, which the company attributed to higher average ticket prices.Revenue from Disney’s parks and resorts increased 3 percent to $2.8 billion in the quarter, while operating income decreased 8 percent to $477 million.

Disney converting Droid Eris into GPS tour guide

Disney converting Droid Eris into GPS tour guide

Here is a very cool geek article for all those droid nerds like myself from one of my favorite sites Engadget.

Walt Disney World is reportedly testing out Verizon’s HTC Hero as a GPS navigator and tour guide for the entire park, complete with shopping discounts, special bonuses and up-to-the-minute wait times for rides.

How or when you’ll get your hands on one is presently up in the air, though the man who snapped these shots told Mickey Updates the phones may be an inexpensive addition to your vacation — perhaps like the $10 BREW-based Mobile Magic application Verizon and Disney introduced last year.

Walt Disney Co. third-quarter earnings jump 40%

Walt Disney Co. third-quarter earnings jump 40%

This article comes to us from the LA Times.

ESPN‘s World Cup soccer coverage and the strong box-office performance of films including Disney/Pixar Animation Studios’ “Toy Story 3” helped buoy Walt Disney Co.‘s bottom line in the third quarter.

The media giant reported a 40% jump in earnings to $1.3 billion, up from $954 million a year earlier. Revenue reached $10 billion for the three-month period ending July 3, an increase of 16% from a year ago.

In a call with analysts, Walt Disney Co. Chief Executive Robert A. Iger highlighted the film studio’s summer performance, noting that it released three of the top five films worldwide in “Toy Story 3,” Disney’s “Alice in Wonderland” and Marvel Entertainment’s “Iron Man 2.” The three pictures not only were a financial success but also have fueled other businesses such as merchandise sales, he said.

‘Toy Story’ merchandise sales reached new heights as consumers responded to a fresh line of well-designed products available globally,” Iger said. “And this bodes well for Pixar‘s next feature film, ‘Cars 2,’ ” due in June 2011.
