Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue Celebrates 50 Years with Original Cast Reunion

The iconic Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground marked its 50th anniversary with a special reunion of the original 1974 cast!

Originally an intern-led summer show, the Hoop-Dee-Doo’s success led to its transformation into a permanent fixture and one of America’s longest-running dinner shows.

The Walt Disney World Cast and Community Facebook page shared heartwarming photos of the original cast members returning to Pioneer Hall. These former interns got to revisit the stage, meet the current performers, and reminisce about their role in creating this beloved tradition.

Running three times a night from Wednesday to Sunday, the Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue offers a two-hour dinner show filled with lively music and frontier fun.

To commemorate the 50th anniversary, special merchandise is now available at Settlement Trading Post across from Pioneer Hall.

Cast Member Previews Announced for Country Bear Musical Jamboree

Get ready for a rootin’ tootin’ good time! The all-new Country Bear Jamboree is set to debut at Magic Kingdom on July 17th, but Cast Members get an exclusive sneak peek starting next week.

Magic Kingdom Cast Members will have a chance to see the reimagined show before it officially opens its doors to the public. Previews are scheduled for July 10th and 12th. It’s important to note that these previews are exclusive to Cast Members only, and no guests will be allowed to attend.

The beloved Country Bear characters are back with a brand new act! Fans can expect to see all their favorites belting out classic Disney tunes, including “A Whole New World” from Aladdin, “Try Everything” from Zootopia, and the timeless “Bear Necessities” from The Jungle Book. Plus, the bears will be sporting spiffier-than-ever new costumes for the occasion.

Good To Go Days Return in July for Disney World Annual Passholders

Great news for Walt Disney World Annual Passholders! A new set of “Good to Go Days” has been released for mid to late July 2024.

The latest “Good-to-Go Days” for Walt Disney World are here: July 10th, 11th, 13th, 14th, 16th, 21st, 28th, and 29th. This is exciting news compared to the quiet May offerings, and it might hint at lighter-than-usual crowds for July! On these special days, you can skip the park reservations and head straight for the magic at any of the four Disney World parks. Be sure to check the Walt Disney World Passholder Admission Calendar for the latest updates on “Good-to-Go Days.”

Disney will be adding more “Good-to-Go Days” throughout the year, so keep an eye out – they might be announced just days or weeks in advance. Remember, blackout dates still apply based on your Pass tier.

Here’s a breakdown of your park access options:

Good-to-Go Days: Skip the reservations on these special days and enjoy any of the four parks!
After 2pm (except Magic Kingdom weekends): No reservation needed to enter any park (except Magic Kingdom on Saturdays and Sundays) after 2pm, but blackout dates still apply.
Park Hopping: To hop between parks, you’ll need a reservation for your first park and enter it before visiting others. However, on “Good-to-Go Days” or after 2pm (except Magic Kingdom weekends), you can enter a park without a reservation and then hop to others.

Heads up to all Disney Vacation Club (DVC) owners as well as anyone planning a trip to stay at a DVC property in Florida? House Bill 429, which recently passed the Florida Senate and took effect on July 1, includes significant changes to the Florida Vacation Plan and Timesharing Act.

The new law allows the managing firm of a timeshare project to remove guests from the property, similar to how hotel and restaurant operators can eject unruly patrons. This means that Disney Vacation Club can now take decisive action against guests who engage in misconduct.

Key Provisions

Guest Removal: The managing entity or manager of a timeshare property can remove guests, including deeded owners, for behaviors such as:
- Illegally possessing or dealing in controlled substances.
- Being intoxicated, profane, lewd, or brawling.
- Disturbing the peace and comfort of other guests.
- Failing to make payment or check out on time.
- Engaging in illegal or disorderly conduct.
- Creating a nuisance.
Notification Process: The operator must notify the guest that they are no longer welcome and request them to leave. This can be done orally or in writing. If in writing, the notice must clearly state that staying after receiving the notice is a misdemeanor.
Law Enforcement Involvement: If a guest refuses to leave, the operator can call law enforcement. Officers are authorized to arrest and remove the guest, and the guest forfeits any rights to occupy the premises.

Civil and Criminal Immunity: Operators and law enforcement officers who detain or arrest a guest in compliance with the law are protected from civil and criminal liability for false arrest, imprisonment, or unlawful detention.
Handling Of Prepayment: According to the referenced statutes, if the banned guest has paid in advance, the establishment should refund to the guest any unused portion of the advance payment. This refund does not include any days in which the guest was on property for any portion of the 24-hour period, and it is unclear how refunds would be handled for member interests.

If you are planning a trip to Florida that includes an event with a planned release of balloons, you may want to rethink your plans. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis recently signed into law a measure that outlaws balloon releases in the state, effective July 1. The legislation, known as “Release of Balloons” (HB 321), classifies the intentional release of all balloons inflated with gas lighter than air as littering.

The new law aims to protect Florida’s coastlines and ocean wildlife from the harmful effects of balloon debris. Oceana, a nonprofit ocean conservation organization, lobbied for the bill and praised its passage as a significant win for marine life. According to Oceana’s Florida Field Campaigns Manager, Hunter Miller, balloons and their plastic ribbons pose a fatal threat to sea turtles and sea birds, who can easily mistake them for food. “Florida’s new law will help save ocean animals from these preventable deaths,” Miller stated. Instead of balloons, Floridians are encouraged to consider greener alternatives such as bubbles, kites, planting trees, or creating memorial gardens for their celebrations.

Under the new law, anyone who intentionally releases balloons will face a $150 fine, with $50 going to the Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s solid waste management trust fund. For balloon releases over 15 pounds, fines can reach up to $1,000. Although previous laws allowed for the release of up to nine balloons within a 24-hour period, this new legislation imposes stricter penalties to curb the environmental impact of balloon litter. Exceptions to the law include weather balloons, research balloons, and hot air balloons, provided they are recovered after flight. The penalties do not apply to a child under 6.

Disney Cruise Line Sets New Earlier Boarding Time for Select Sailings

Disney Cruise Line has announced an important change to their boarding procedures for select sailings departing from Florida. Effective September 2nd, 2024, guests booked on the Disney Magic departing Fort Lauderdale and the Disney Wish departing Port Canaveral will have an earlier all aboard time.

Guests must be onboard the ship by 3:00 pm on embarkation day, instead of the previous time of 4:00 pm. Strict adherence to the new 3:00 pm deadline will be enforced. Guests arriving after this time will be denied boarding. Guests will still be required to choose a designated port arrival window during online check-in. It is recommended to arrive within this designated window to avoid any last-minute complications.

Disney will directly inform impacted guests:

Disney Cruise Line will be contacting all guests booked on affected sailings with official notification via SeaMail.
These emails will detail the new boarding time and reiterate the importance of arriving on time.

Planning your arrival:

Those with independent flights are encouraged to visit the Disney Cruise Line website (https://disneycruise.disney.go.com/) for recommended flight arrival times based on their departure port.
Careful planning to ensure arrival before the 3:00 pm deadline is crucial.
