The Russo Brothers are in early negotiations to reprise their roles as directors for not just one, but the next two Avengers films, according to industry sources.

This development concludes a prolonged and intense search by Marvel Studios for filmmakers to helm the fifth and sixth installments of the Avengers franchise. Several high-profile directors were considered, including Shawn Levy, who was offered the position. However, insiders report that the discussions with the Russo Brothers are still in their initial stages.

The Russo brothers’ return to Marvel marks a full-circle moment. From their comedy roots in television to directing four of the studio’s most iconic films, including the record-breaking Avengers: Endgame, they were instrumental in shaping the MCU. Since their Marvel heyday, the Russo brothers have transitioned into successful producers, with credits including the Oscar-winning Everything Everywhere All at Once.

While their directorial ventures outside the Marvel universe have been ambitious, they haven’t quite matched the critical and commercial heights of their previous work. Their return to the director’s chair for the next two Avengers films represents a high-stakes gamble for both the studio and the filmmakers.

Originally titled Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and set to star Jonathan Majors as the titular villain, the fifth Avengers film has undergone significant changes. The project, which was once under the direction of Destin Daniel Cretton, has been thrown into flux following Majors’ legal troubles and subsequent dismissal from the MCU. With a new director and a likely title change on the horizon, Marvel Studios faces a daunting task in reimagining this pivotal installment of the franchise.

The sixth Avengers film, Secret Wars, is a long-held ambition of the Russo brothers. This epic comic book storyline presents a universe-shattering event. The original 1980s series introduced the omnipotent Beyonder, who pitted Marvel heroes and villains against each other on a battleground planet. A more recent 2015 iteration, a culmination of writer Jonathan Hickman’s multiverse saga, has already begun to be referenced in the MCU. This version culminates in the destruction of all realities, with surviving fragments coalescing into a single world dominated by Doctor Doom.

Avengers 5 is slated for release on May 1, 2026, with Secret Wars following on May 7, 2027.

Willow Bay and her husband, Disney CEO Bob Iger, have made a groundbreaking move in women’s sports. The power couple has acquired a controlling stake in Los Angeles’ Angel City Football Club, propelling the team to new heights.

Willow Bay, dean of the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism, and her husband, Disney CEO Bob Iger, are poised to become the new controlling owners of Angel City FC. The deal, which values the team at a record-breaking $250 million, is expected to close soon. With an additional $50 million investment from the couple, Angel City FC solidifies its position as the world’s most valuable women’s sports franchise. News of the Igers’ impending acquisition first surfaced earlier this month.

Bay will take the reins as the sole decision-maker on the Angel City FC board and will also serve as the controlling owner for NWSL purposes. She will represent the team on the NWSL board of governors. The deal is contingent upon standard closing procedures, including NWSL approval. With unanimous backing from the ACFC board, the transaction is expected to finalize within the next two months.

Bay said, “As fans and friends of ACFC, we are thrilled to join this team as owners at this historic moment in sports. ACFC and these incredible athletes have already had a tremendous impact on the NWSL, women’s soccer, and the Los Angeles community. With this investment of resources and capital, we hope to accelerate the growth of the club and the NWSL. The additional $50 million investment from Bay and Iger will fuel Angel City FC’s mission to be a leading-edge organization both on and off the field. This infusion of capital will support the team’s commitment to its community-focused and equitable foundation.

New Mickey Ice Cream Truck Bucket Arrives at the Disneyland Resort

Scoop up the new Mickey ice cream truck bucket at Gibson Girl Ice Cream Parlor in Disneyland Park or Clarabelle’s Hand-Scooped Ice Cream in Disney California Adventure.

Sporting a classic ice cream truck look, the bucket is predominantly blue on the bottom, cream in the middle, and pink on top.

The truck’s face features two gray headlights and a windshield sticker of Mickey driving. A colossal vanilla ice cream cone tops off the design.

Young Jedi Are Back! Season 2 of Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures Blasts Off on August 14th!

Get ready for another exciting adventure in a galaxy far, far away! The trailer for the highly anticipated Season 2 of Lucasfilm’s original animated series, “Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures,” has landed! Mark your calendars, because the Force will be strong with Disney+ and Disney Jr. starting Wednesday, August 14th.

The series takes place 200 years before the events of “The Phantom Menace,” during the golden age of the Jedi Order known as the High Republic. We follow the adventures of three younglings: Kai Brightstar, the brave and optimistic leader; Lys Solay, the resourceful and analytical problem-solver; and Nubs, the adorable and enthusiastic tech whiz.

Together, under the guidance of wise Master Zia, they learn the ways of the Force, explore the vast and wondrous galaxy, and lend a helping hand to those in need. This season, the young Jedi face even bigger challenges as they embark on exciting missions across the galaxy.

Joining them on their journey is Master Zia’s new Padawan, the spirited Wes Vinik, and his loyal astromech droid companion, RO-M1. As they continue their Jedi training and hone their skills, the younglings will encounter new friends, revisit familiar faces, and face daunting adversaries like the growing pirate threat – The Ganguls!
