Dining is a huge part of a Disney vacation budget, so learning how to sort through all the choices, and understanding how to save money and increase value for your dining dollars can make a huge difference in how affordable your trip actually is.

  • Disney Dining Plans and Discount Programs
  • Getting the Most Value for Your Meals
  • What You Need to Know About Advanced Dining Reservations
  • Food Allergies, Specialty Diets, and Vegetarian/Vegan Dining
  • And much more.

Organized and simple to use, the e-book format provides links to additional, more detailed information, as well as the versatility to print what is desired, or send to a smartphone for easy access while at the parks. It’s the perfect guide for anyone who is trying to make sense of all the Disney dining options, and wants to know how they can actually plan meals as affordably as possible.

And now it can be yours for FREE this week.

Hello everyone, and welcome to another edition of the Chip & Company Week in Review.  This has been a busy week for news, so let’s dive into it right now!

  • Our writer Michele took a look at Courtesy Holds, what they mean, and whether there are any “catches” associated with them.  Read all about it here.  You may just change your mind on whether or not to take advantage of them!
  • Like me, Chip has Princesses in his life, and like me, Chip also appreciates a great app!  Check out the latest app he has found to help your girls celebrate the Royal Wedding!
  • Linds brought us a bit of sad news out of Disneyland.  Unfortunately, one of Disney’s own collapsed while working, and passed away.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to Phillip’s family, and the extended Disney family as well.
  • On a brighter note, Disney is introducing some great health and wellness suites at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, starting this fall.  Check it out here!  They look really nice!
  • For those of you that belong to the Disney Vacation Club, look at this little tidbit of information about Travelex Insurance!  I hope you find it useful.
  • On a safety note, there was a recall of Disney Princess Plastic Trikes by Kiddieland.  If you missed it the first time, read about it here.
  • For those of you in the Military, we’ve got some good news for you!  Chris reports that Disney has extended the Military Discounts that you all deserve until the end of September, 2011!  There are some great room discounts, and incredible ticket discounts!  Thank you from all of us at Chip & Company for all that you do for our country!

  • And before Jessica gets on my case, here is the refurbishment schedule for Disneyland!
  • Lastly, take a look at the promotion details for the upcoming movie THOR.

In addition to all of the news that Chip & Company provides, we also have a great set of writers that love to provide their own views on things pertaining to the world of Disney!  Here are just a few to wet you whistle with!

  • Brenda talks about  Walt and his love of music, charitable deeds, and the famous Sherman Brothers in her “Wednesday’s with Walt” post.  Enjoy!
  • Chris wrote a nice piece on Safety at the Parks – a good idea no matter where you visit!

New Wearables by Her Universe Offered at Star Wars Weekends 2011

New Wearables by Her Universe Offered at Star Wars Weekends 2011
Star WarsTM Fangirl Apparel from Her UniverseTM to be Offered for the First Time at Star Wars Weekends at Disney’s Hollywood Studios theme park

Returning to Star Wars Weekends at Disney’s Hollywood Studios theme park in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. as Celebrity Host of “The Clone Wars: Behind the Force,” actress Ashley Eckstein (voice of Ahsoka Tano on Star Wars: The Clone Wars) will also be bringing an all-new, unique range of Star Wars fangirl-focused products to the month-long event at Walt Disney World Resort. Available for the duration of Star Wars Weekends 2011, Eckstein’s line of Her Universe apparel and accessories was created as a response to the ever-increasing demand for fashionable “geek chic” products among the growing community of female fans.

“In addition to a product line that already includes female-focused shirts and undergarments, Her Universe will be premiering two new shirt designs at this year’s Star Wars Weekends event. Featuring images of Jedi Master Yoda and other famous characters from the beloved Star Wars Saga, both designs will be offered in female sizes with female fits – and, for the first time ever, two popular Her Universe designs will also be available in children’s sizes. The new designs will be available exclusively for a limited time at Disney’s Hollywood Studios during Star Wars Weekends 2011.

New Wearables by Her Universe Offered at Star Wars Weekends 2011
“As the voice of Ahsoka Tano, it warms my heart to see an increase in young girls who are now Star Wars fans because of The Clone Wars,” says Eckstein. “However, it bothered me when those little girls had to go to the boys section to buy their Star Wars shirts. Now little girls can buy shirts that are specially made just for them!”

In addition to regular autograph signings each weekend, Eckstein will also be available for special merchandise autograph signings each day inside the theme park where her exclusive Her Universe apparel will be sold.

“Disney’s Hollywood Studios has played a huge part in my life,” says Eckstein. “Growing up in Orlando, my dad worked for Walt Disney World and I was at the theme park the first week it opened in 1989. It was a dream of mine to follow in my father’s footsteps and work for Disney. On my 16th birthday, I applied for a job at the ‘happiest place on Earth’ and was assigned to Disney’s Hollywood Studios where I would spend my weekends dancing in the parades and working in the restaurants! Now, to return to Disney’s Hollywood Studios for Star Wars Weekends as a host and a designer is magical!”

Running every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from May 20 through June 12, Disney’s Star Wars Weekends is an annual event at Disney’s Hollywood Studios theme park celebrating the Star Wars Saga, as well the animated television series Star Wars: The Clone Wars. In addition to offering fans a unique opportunity to join Jedi Masters, Sith Lords and Star Wars celebrities for special shows, presentations and memorabilia, the 2011 event also marks the launch of the all-new Star Tours attraction: Star Tours –The Adventures Continue. For more information on Star Wars Weekends, visit: disneyworld.com/starwarsweekends or disneyparks.com/blog.

NOTE – Ashley Eckstein will once again be a guest on the WDW Tiki Room show on Sorcerer Radio in the coming days! Check back with www.SRSounds.com for more information!

Getting in Shape for Disney World

Getting in Shape for Disney World

I think most of us are not where we want to be as far as weight and fitness goes. I have been going to the gym for quite some time and just finished P90x workouts. Still I have a ways to go to get ready for Disney World this September.

I signed up for this website called Spark People a few years ago in attempts to get in shape. It is free and will track, monitor, and assist you with getting in shape. It was great and I used the site for about a month till I just got busy with other things like this website!

Well as baby number 2 has come, along with winter, and life I find myself again not quite where I want to be. So I have fired up the old Spark People site and actually created a page for Chip and Company.

It is called:

Getting in Shape for Disney: Chip and Company

You can go there an create an account for free and join us get in Shape for Disney World.

So if your like me and have a Disney Vacation coming up soon and would like to be able to handle the daily walks, the standing, and the nutrition of visiting the Disney Parks. Head on over and join Spark People and then join the Chip and Company Spark Team.

See you there!

“CARS 2” Star Larry the Cable Guy to Serve as Honorary Pace Car Driver for the 52nd Running of the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway

"CARS 2" Star Larry the Cable Guy to Serve as Honorary Pace Car Driver for the 52nd Running of the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway

Blue-collar comedian and the voice of Mater in the upcoming Disney-Pixar summer comedy “CARS 2,” Larry the Cable Guy will “git-r-done” as the honorary pace-car driver for the 52nd running of the Coca-Cola 600 on May 29 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

In addition to leading the field of 43 NASCAR stars in the Coca-Cola 600, Larry the Cable Guy will also take part in various activities around the speedway, including attending the drivers meeting, prior to the main event.

Charlotte Motor Speedway will celebrate the U.S. opening of Disney-Pixar’s “CARS 2” on June 24 with a special display for fans featuring fullsize replicas of movie stars Lightning McQueen and Mater. Lightning McQueen and Mater will also participate in the pre-race parade laps.

“I am excited to Git R Done in the pace car at Charlotte Motor Speedway and lead the field to the start of NASCAR’s Coca-Cola 600,” said Larry the Cable Guy. “It will be an honor to be a part of the most patriotic pre-race show in America.”

“CARS 2” features star racecar Lightning McQueen (voice of Owen Wilson) and the incomparable tow truck Mater (voice of Larry the Cable Guy) as they take their friendship overseas to compete in the first-ever World Grand Prix. But the road to the championship is filled with plenty of potholes, detours and hilarious surprises when Mater gets caught up in an intriguing adventure of his own: international espionage. Mater’s journey leads him through the streets of Japan and Europe, trailed by his friends and watched by the world. The fast-paced fun includes a colorful new all-star cast, complete with menacing villains and international racing competitors.

In May 2006, Charlotte Motor Speedway hosted the world premiere of Disney-Pixar’s “CARS,” which was the first multi-screen digital cinema premiere ever held. More than 35,000 fans watched the premiere on a series of four giant custom-built outdoor movie screens.

“We’re excited to once again work with Disney-Pixar and celebrate everything we love about cars, the summer and great NASCAR racing in Charlotte,” said Marcus Smith, president and general manager of Charlotte Motor Speedway. “Having Larry the Cable Guy and these awesome ‘CARS 2’ vehicles is a super addition to the spectacle and pageantry of the Coca-Cola 600. It’s the perfect way to kick-off the summer for our fans, by pairing the biggest movie of the summer with NASCAR’s most spectacular event, all on Memorial Day Weekend.”

The Coca-Cola 600 will be televised live on FOX at 6 p.m. EDT and can be heard on the radio through the Performance Racing Network beginning at 5:45 p.m. EDT.

The only 600-mile event on the NASCAR schedule, the Coca-Cola 600 tests the endurance of both drivers and equipment each May and provides fans with more entertainment value than any other race in America.

Paying tribute to all veterans and active U.S. military servicemen and women, the pre-race show for the Coca-Cola 600 will include a military assault demonstration by Special Operations soldiers from Fort Bragg, N.C.; on-stage recognition of Medal of Honor recipients; and the unfurling of a gigantic, 11,250 square-foot American flag by families of active-duty troops.

Tickets for all May races at Charlotte Motor Speedway can be purchased online at www.charlottemotorspeedway.com or by calling the speedway ticket office at 1-800-455-FANS (3267). Frontstretch tickets with the best views of the world’s largest HD video board, debuting at the speedway in May, start at just $49 for the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race on May 21.  Fans can also purchase two frontstretch tickets for just $99 to the Coca-Cola 600 on May 29.

For daily updates on May race activities, connect with Charlotte Motor Speedway by following on Twitter at www.twitter.com/CLTMotorSpdwy or become a Facebook fan at www.facebook.com/charlottemotorspeedway.

Virtual Celebration for Earth Day

Virtual Celebration for Earth Day

Disney’s popular online game site Club Penguin celebrated Earth Day the best way they know how — virtually.

From April 21-26, Club Penguin users could take part in activities that educated them about the importance of Earth Day and why it’s important to help the environment. Users could use coins that they earned to purchase special Earth Day-themed costumes for their penguin, as well as visit areas of the map that had been re-themed to appear more like the habitats of some endangered animals. There, users could learn about these animals and why they are endangered.

Disney also donated $100,000. This money will go toward projects to preserve wetlands, reduce overfishing in China, and projects to conserve and protect the snow leopard and the African painted dog.

My younger brother and I explored and played around with Club Penguin and had a great time. (I’m officially a black belt at Card Jitsu.) The Earth Day activities within the world were educational and informative, as well as engaging.I recommend that parents let their kids have some fun with Club Penguin!
