Universal Orlando Resort Launches New License Plate to Benefit Give Kids The World
For more than three decades, Universal Orlando Resort has partnered with Give Kids The World, a nonprofit dedicated to creating unforgettable experiences for children with critical illnesses and their families. Since opening in 1990, Universal has remained deeply committed to giving back to the community, and now fans have an opportunity to join this meaningful mission.
Universal Orlando Resort has introduced a specialty license plate to directly benefit Give Kids The World. Proceeds from each license plate purchase will support the organizationโs efforts to provide cost-free, weeklong wish vacations at its whimsical resort in Central Florida. Since 1986, Give Kids The World Village has hosted nearly 200,000 families from all 50 states and 77 countries, offering a magical escape filled with laughter, play, and hopeโfar from the stress of medical treatments.
The plate was announced back in June, and the design for the plate has finally been revealed. Disneyโs plans for a Cars-themed expansion in Frontierland are moving forwardโalbeit with a slight delay. The South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) has approved Disneyโs request for an extension to finalize plans related to the replacement of Rivers of America with new attractions inspired by Pixarโs Cars franchise. Originally given a ten-day deadline to update its stormwater management plans by December 13, Disney successfully secured a partial extension, with a new deadline set for January 9, 2025.
This extension gives Disney more time to address critical questions about the environmental impact of the project, which involves filling in the current Rivers of America to make way for Cars-themed attractions. Central to the process is revising the stormwater management system that serves the area behind Tom Sawyer Island and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. The system is vital for managing water flow and protecting the surrounding environment, ensuring that proper drainage and water movement are maintained even after significant alterations to the area.
Addressing Environmental Concerns
Disneyโs updated plans must address several key issues identified by the SFWMD, including:
Wetland Impacts: A detailed map of existing wetland conditions and an analysis of how the project will affect these areas.

During our latest visit, we saw the tower nearly ready to welcome guests. While construction vehicles remain on-site for final touches, the exterior is fully complete, showcasing stunning design details that seamlessly blend Polynesian-inspired storytelling with modern luxury. From the room balconies to the breathtaking murals flanking both sides of the tower, the Island Tower is a masterpiece in immersive resort design.

Walking into the Pennsylvania Convention Center for PAX Unplugged was an experience unlike any other. For first-time attendees like us, the air was electric with the hum of shared passion and discovery. This tabletop gaming extravaganza offered an oasis of creativity and connection in the bustling heart of the Pennsylvania Convention Center. From the sprawling show floor to the intimate corners where new friendships blossomed over dice rolls and game boards, PAX Unplugged proved to be not just an event but an unforgettable celebration of all things analog gaming.
First impressions matter, and PAX Unplugged delivered from the moment we stepped through its doors. The layout of the space was a testament to careful planning and thoughtful design. Picking up our badge at will call was a breeze, getting through security along at the height of the crowd proved easy, and navigating the show floor wasn’t daunting at all.
Despite the throngs of attendeesโenthusiasts, creators, and familiesโthe event never felt overwhelming. Unlike some conventions where crowds can leave one feeling claustrophobic, PAXโs spacious aisles, well-defined zones, and clearly marked signage made navigating the venue a breeze.
The allocation of space was particularly impressive. Dedicated areas for free play stretched as far as the eye could see, inviting attendees to dive into games old and new. Plentiful access to these gaming spaces meant that even at peak hours, finding a seat and starting a game was never a struggle. Fostering community play underscored the heart of PAX; connecting people through the joy of gaming.
The Pennsylvania Convention Centerโs central location offered unparalleled convenience. PAX itself ensured that food and beverage options were readily available onsite, catering to every palate. Yet, mere steps away lay the iconic Reading Terminal Market, a mecca for food lovers. The allure of fresh sandwiches, decadent pastries, and international delicacies was irresistible. Indulging in the marketโs offerings added a local flavor to our experience. While it was possible to spend the entire day immersed in the world of tabletop gaming without ever leaving the convention center, the option to step out and explore the surrounding cityscape added an enriching dimension to the event.
The main show floor was a sight to behold: colorful, vibrant, and teeming with life. Vendors proudly displayed their creations, from intricately designed dice sets to gorgeously illustrated game boards. Demo stations buzzed with excitement as attendees eagerly tried out the next big titles in the tabletop gaming world.
For those less interested in shopping or spectating, the eventโs dedication to hands-on participation was unparalleled. Open gaming areas invited attendees to borrow from an extensive library of titles, while tournaments and casual play sessions catered to players of all skill levels. Watching strangers come together over a shared love of games, barriers dissolving with every roll of the dice, was nothing short of magical.
What truly set PAX Unplugged apart was its people. The attendees, staff, and exhibitors exuded a palpable sense of enthusiasm and warmth. Seat Numbers Added to Remyโs Ratatouille Adventure in EPCOTโSingle Rider Line Incoming?
Guests visiting EPCOTโs Remyโs Ratatouille Adventure may have noticed a small but significant change to the ride vehicles: seat numbers have been added to the backs of the bench seats in each row. The rows are now numbered 1, 2, and 3, matching the whimsical style of the row numbers already present in the boarding area. While this update might seem minor, it hints at some exciting possibilities for the fan-favorite attraction.
The addition of seat numbers could be part of Disneyโs efforts to improve efficiency and clarity during the boarding process. Cast Members may soon begin using the numbers to indicate how many guests should occupy each row, making the process smoother for larger parties. However, the seat numbers may also be connected to a feature that has existed since the attractionโs debut but has yet to be activated: the single rider queue.
When Remyโs Ratatouille Adventure opened in 2021, the ride included a single rider queue, complete with signage at the merge point of the regular standby and Lightning Lane queues. The seat numbers could streamline operations for single riders, ensuring that each vehicle is filled to capacity while keeping groups together and directing the single riders to their seat.
Could this small change be the first step toward activating the long-dormant single rider line? Time will tell, but fans of EPCOTโs France Pavilion are hopeful that this enhancement means even more guests will soon be able to enjoy the culinary chaos of Remyโs Parisian adventure with reduced wait times.
