Fuentes del Morro Pool at Disneyโs Caribbean Beach Resort Closing for Refurbishment in January 2025
Guests planning to stay at Disneyโs Caribbean Beach Resort in early 2025 should note that the Fuentes del Morro Feature Pool and Aquatic Play Area will be closed for routine maintenance starting January 13, 2025. The good news? This yearโs refurbishment is expected to be quick, with Disney planning to wrap up the work by the end of Januaryโmuch shorter than last yearโs three-month closure.
While the main pool and play area are temporarily unavailable, all other resort pools, including the serene quiet pools located in each of the resortโs villages, will remain open for guests to enjoy. These smaller pools offer a relaxing alternative for those looking to cool off or enjoy a quieter swim.
January is typically a low-demand time for resort pool use, thanks to cooler temperatures, making it an ideal time for routine maintenance. Disney prioritizes keeping its facilities in top shape for guests, and this brief closure ensures that the Fuentes del Morro Pool will be ready to welcome visitors back to its pirate-themed splendor in no time.
If youโre visiting during this period, rest assured that the Caribbean Beach Resort still offers plenty of ways to enjoy your stay, from its tropical atmosphere to dining options like Sebastianโs Bistro. And with quiet pools remaining open, youโll still have a splash-worthy experience! Stay tuned for updates on the reopening of the Fuentes del Morro Pool.

Disney CEO Bob Iger Expresses Sympathy for Wildfire Victims, Highlights Impact on Disney Employees
Disney CEO Bob Iger has shared his condolences and concern for those affected by the devastating wildfires currently ravaging California. In a heartfelt post on his Instagram page, Iger highlighted the extensive damage caused by the fires, particularly in the Pacific Palisades, where he personally witnessed the destruction.
“My heart goes out to everyone who has lost homes and businesses, and to all whose lives have been impacted, including thousands of Disney employees,” Iger stated.
The Palisades Fire, now considered the most destructive wildfire in Los Angeles history, has scorched over 17,000 acres and destroyed an estimated 1,000 structures, many of them homes. Over 800 firefighters are battling the blaze, struggling to contain its spread. Evacuation orders remain in place for wide areas of the Pacific Palisades, including parts of Santa Monica, Malibu, and Topanga.
The fires have also impacted operations at Universal Studios Hollywood and CityWalk, which were closed yesterday and remain closed today. As of this writing, Disneyland Resort is operating as normal, but the situation is being closely monitored.
Iger’s message of sympathy and support underscores the widespread impact of these devastating wildfires. The Disney community stands in solidarity with all those affected, including its employees and the broader Southern California community.
Walt Disney Imagineer Joe Rohde Reflects on Devastating California Fires
Walt Disney Imagineer and Disney Legend Joe Rohde took to Instagram to share his personal connection to the devastating wildfires currently ravaging California. Rohde, known for his significant contributions to Disney’s Animal Kingdom and Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa, recounted the history of Altadena as a haven for young Imagineers and lamented the loss of homes and memories in the fire.
In a heartfelt post, Rohde described Altadena as “a sleepy, little foothill community full of wonderful old houses that needed some love and attention.” He explained how the area became a popular spot for Imagineers in the early days of EPCOT’s development, offering affordable housing and a “homespun and midwestern” feel.
Over the decades, generations of Imagineers built their lives in Altadena, raising families and creating cherished memories. However, the recent wildfires have swept through the area, leaving devastation in their wake.
Rohde shared his grief over the loss, stating:
“Most of the places where we all lived burnt to ashes last night. The homes of many Imagineers who worked on many of the parks and attractions that Disney fans know and love are gone. Homes filled with memories, care, love and the expression of the same creative talent that went into the parks and films. Fire, when it comes, comes so fast that we must leave that all behind.”
He acknowledged the widespread devastation in other areas like Pacific Palisades and Malibu, but emphasized the personal impact of the fires on his Altadena community. “Altadena was our home and home base,” he wrote. “And as of this evening much of my old neighborhood of Altadena has vanished and with it the homes of many of my dear friends and colleagues.”
Rohde’s poignant message serves as a reminder of the human cost of these natural disasters. He concluded his post with a simple plea: “Send a prayer.”
As the fires continue to burn, the Disney community stands in solidarity with those affected, including the many Imagineers who have lost their homes and cherished memories.
