Drink Around the World Showcase – Vive la France Pavilion

Vive la France, especially if you are visiting the Epcot version! When you wander along the Epcot World Showcase and find Les Vins des Chefs de France drink station on your Drinking Around the World Showcase (DAWS) escapade, you may have a hard time choosing just one drink selection to try.

France does have a few other options if you are wanting something to nosh on with your alcoholic beverage.  If you are looking for a sit down location for a relaxing French inspired meal with alcoholic drinks, try the Les Chefs de France Table Service Restaurant right across the way from Les Vins.  Just dessert and an alcoholic beverage?  Wind down the lane a bit and straight into Boulangerie Patisserie les Halles.

We settled on trying out a couple options from the Les Vins menu.  The Les Vins menu has 5 main sections broken down by Regular Wine, Regional Wine, Premium Wine, Slushes, and Champagne and Beer.  They are all served by the glass.

Muppets Editor Sued Disney for Harassment

muppets

The Muppets editor sued Disney for harassment. An assistant film editor of “The Muppets” has filed a wrongful termination suit against the Walt Disney Company, citing discrimination and harassment against the editor James Thomas.

The suit was filed in Los Angeles Superior Court last week. The suit claims that Cecilia Hyoun “was subjected to differential treatment because of her gender, family responsibilities, her race, and age.” The court documents describe Hyoun as “an Asian woman over age 40.” Hyoun claims that Thomas wanted her to choose between her family and work responsibilities.

Hyoun is asking for unspecified damages to be determined by the court. Hyoun  filed a formal complaint with the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing, who granted her a right-to-sue letter.

‘Monsters University’ Press Junket Coverage

Monsters University Poster

On Saturday, May 18, I was invited out to the Four Season Hotel in Los Angeles to attend the press junket for Pixar’s new film, ‘Monsters University’. I was lucky enough to attend the event with some fellow bloggers, where we got to sit and talk with both Billy Crystal and John Goodman, and discuss their new film. There’s nothing like being able to sit down and listen to two of the most iconic men in Hollywood. It was very cool, as well as enlightening. They touched on everything from the things that kept them up at night as kids, what it was like working with the film’s director Dan Scanton, the relationship between Mike and Sulley, and so much more. Hit the jump for my thoughts on the event and some of the answers, photos, and the full audio of the Q&A.

One of the things that I found so incredibly interesting during the Q&A session, which shouldn’t have surprised me, was just how funny the duo were outside of their films. The chemistry that Mike and Sulley have on screen is very much alive in their real lives as well, and you can tell. This is why the characters work together so well, because of the incredible chemistry between these two men. They were constantly playing off of each other, much like their characters do, so it’s great to see they work together off screen as well.

Planning for the Disney World Parades

Disney World Parades

“What time is the 3 o’clock parade?” Believe it or not, this is one of the most commonly asked questions at Walt Disney World. It’s become so much of a joke, that Disney has even made t-shirts featuring this question! Watching Disney parades is an experience you will not want to miss. So, what do you need to know, other than the parade times (which can be found on the Times Guide)?

For any Disney parade, you will want to arrive early to make sure you get the best viewing spot possible. I recommend arriving at least 45 – 60 minutes prior to the parade’s start time.

If you will be wanting a snack for the parade, it may be best to grab your snacks before securing your viewing spot. The prime viewing areas come become quite crowded, making it hard to get back to the rest of your party with snacks.

Be sure to take pictures during the parade(just make sure you’re not blocking the view of others while doing so)! Pictures of any Walt Disney World  parade are a great way to re-live the magic of your vacation after you return home.

There are currently four parades at Walt Disney World:

Epcot World Showcase Best Kept Secrets – Germany

As we continue our journey through the World Showcase, leaving Italy and their wonderful pizza we find ourselves in Germany. Many people that travel to Epcot think that Germany is nothing but beer and bratwurst, but there is so much more. Let’s see what else we can find that is a little known or surprising fact of Germany.

  • The Germany Pavilion is designed to look like a German town, but with architecture from different eras and regions. The Platz (square) is decorated with a statue of St. George and the Dragon and a clock tower. The Biergarten, at the rear of the courtyard, sells traditional German food. The pavilion also has numerous small shops selling German goods, including dolls and cuckoo clocks.
  • In the courtyard, you can look up towards the back and see a clock tower. At the top of the hour, it will ring and German boy and gilr will come out and twirl around. (don’t worry they are made of wood). Sometimes the clock is off a few minutes, so you have to wait for it.

Disney’s Princess Half Marathon Weekend Event Sells Out In New Record

Princess Half Marathon

The Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend opened up yesterday for registration to the general public (DVC owners and AP holders were able to sign up on the 6th) with a resounding success. They have added two new events this year, The Enchanted 10k and the all new Glass Slipper Challenge, with one selling out in 6 1/2 half hours, which, if I understand correctly is a new record. The new Dopey Challenge at Walt Disney’s Marathon Weekend originally broke the record earlier this year, when it sold out in 7 hours, but leave it to the Princesses not to be outdone, they broke it in 6 1/2 hours.

This year runDisny has added a new challenge for the event weekend, The Glass Slipper Challenge. It’s set up for people that think a half marathon is just a walk in the park and this will put their endurance to the test. The new 19.3 mile adventure, held over two days, will have participants running The Enchanted 10k on Saturday, followed by the Disney Princess Half Marathon on Sunday. If you finish both races, within the pacing requirements, you will be awarded the all-new Glass Slipper Challenge medal. This is in addition to your Half Marathon and 10k medals. Runners had to sign up for the both events and the Glass Slipper Challenge to be eligible.

Schedule of Events

  • Princess Half Marathon – Feb. 23rd, 5:30 am – Epcot
  • The Enchanted 10k – Feb. 22nd – Epcot
  • Cinderella Royal Family 5k – Feb. 21, 6:15 am – Epcot
  • runDisney Kid Races Feb. 21st – Feb. 22nd, 8:45 am – Epcot
  • Pasta in the Park Party – Feb. 21st – Feb. 22nd, 7:00 pm – Epcot
  • Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend Breakfast – Feb. 21st, 7:15 am – Epcot
  • Disney’s Fit For A Princess Expo – Feb. 20th – 22nd, various times – ESPN Wide World Of Sports Complex
  • Race Retreat – Feb. 22nd – Feb. 23rd, various times – Epcot

If you plan on entering any of the events don’t delay, there are limited spots available and some races are already full. At the time of this article it stood at:

  • Princess Half Marathon – 50%
  • Enchanted 10k – 60%
  • The Glass Slipper Challenge – Sold Out !

You can register for the event at runDisney.

Signed up for an event? Join us at Chip and Co. on our team. (Check out our Facebook Page) We have teamed up with Destinations in Florida to offer you the lowest prices on rooms and tickets. Email me ([email protected]) and I will add you to my Very Important Princess list. If you are VIP all it takes is the dates you are wanting, number of people in each room, and how many rooms and I will automatically send out the quote.  These prices will be the LOWEST Disney offers on room/ticket packages and will not last long.
