Is The Hollywood Brown Derby Testing A New Lunch Menu?

Hiya guys and gals! Guess who? No really guess! You are correct it is “I” Anonymouse, your favorite neighborhood gossiper. I have some interesting info that you Disney foodies may appreciate.

I have a friend who has a friend who recently went to the Hollywood Brown Derby, in Hollywood Studios and they tell me the Disney is testing out a new Lunch Menu. The menu is a bit upscale for me but I am sure it will have many fans with dishes like Seared-crusted Ahi Tuna, Cobb Salad, Noodle Bowl with Wok-Fried Coconut Tofu, Spice Dusted Maryland Soft Shell Crab, and last but certainly not least, Grilled Wagyu Beef Burger. The burger is more my speed. I may try it just as soon as I find out what ” Wagyu” beef is. All in all it sounds pretty good.

A little tip for the bargain hunters out there: The menu is a little pricey and I think you can get some of the same foods at the Art of Animation food court for a lot cheaper.

Do you think a separate lunch menu is a good idea? What did you think of the Brown Derby? Let me know in the comment box below.

Any who, that is all the Disney Gossip I have right now. For my past Gossip articles be sure to check them out here.

Disney Quick Tips – Eat At Off Hours

P1050342
P1050342

cantina

Eating meals at off hours is an excellent idea for your Disney vacation! Dining at unusual times can make it easier for you to book the ADRs you want, and it can even help you with the crowds! If you’ve been having trouble getting an ADR at a certain restaurant, try making one at an unusal time. There will be less guests competing to get ADRs for a late lunch, for example, so you will be more likely to be able to book your reservation at off hours.

Need another reason to dine at off hours? Crowds! While everyone else is dining at the normal lunch and dinner times, you can experience the parks with reduced crowds and shorter stand-by lines. Even the lines to order at quick service counters can get extremely long during the lunch and dinner rush. By dining at an unusual time, you most likely will not have to deal with the hassle of waiting in long lines to order and searching the entire restaurant with the hopes of actually finding a table. At most quick service restaurants, there will be little to no lines and plenty of tables available when dining at off hours.

The Jungle Book Comes to Blu-ray Diamond Edition February 11, 2014

Great news for man and man-cubs alike – The Jungle Book is being released from the Disney vault for the first time in almost seven years! Watch for it to swing onto the fabulous Blu-ray Diamond Edition – beginning February 11, 2014.

This is the same wonderful classic story that we know and love. It follows young Mowgli on a fun-filled journey with all his unforgettable friends –  like Bagheera the panther, jazzy King Louie, and the cuddly bear, Baloo.  It will include those swinging, toe-tapping songs such as  “I Wan’na Be Like You” and Academy Award®-nominated classic “The Bare Necessities”. (I have very fond memories of my kids in diapers dancing and singing to these songs!) The Jungle Book remains a tried and true classic because it is so much fun. The February release date is perfect because – just like a sweet Valentine – it reminds us of “The Bare Necessities” of life and the true meaning of friendship.

The Jungle Book has always held a special place in my heart because it is the last Disney movie to have Walt’s own personal touch.  Most Disney fans agree – this is a fantastic film that has held it’s charm – even after all of these years. This time around we will be able to enjoy it even more, thanks to the ultimate in high definition picture and sound clarity that this new edition offers. Perhaps more than anything, most Disney fans are looking forward to seeing the  groundbreaking, state-of-the-art immersive bonus content that you will only find on this Diamond Edition DVD. It’s all made possible because of the awesome Blu-ray technology…and what better way is there to get your Baloo – than on Blu-ray?

Disney Quick Tips – Drink Plenty of Water!

2012 01 25 13 13 31 461
2012 01 25 13 13 31 461

water

Disney is hot and humid in the summer.  If you aren’t used to humidity, you are in for a bit of a shock!  It is going to be hot, but if you plan for it your family will be just fine.

First things first – you MUST stay hydrated.  You can get into trouble very quickly in the heat if you don’t drink enough water.  We hear all of the time that we should be drinking 6-8 glasses of water a day.  When you are in extreme heat, you need to really be careful.  If you are thirsty, you are already on your way to becoming dehydrated.

Here is a great Disney Water Tip ~ You DO NOT have to buy bottled water!  In fact, you don’t even have to pay for a glass of water!  Go to any food kiosk at any park and ask for “a cup of water”…they will give it to you free of charge with ice in it!  No need to carry around those water bottles, just ask a food service Cast Member and you are all set.

If you want to take that tip a step further, bring your own Mio water flavoring or granular packet of lemonade and voila…free drinks!

Another great tip for summertime at Disney is to buy a water mister at WalMart before you leave.  They feel great and are 1/2 the price of the ones that they sell at the parks.

Stay cool, my friends…not thirsty.

Disney to Replace A Statue Taken From A Young Girls Grave

Headstone
Headstone

Headstone and statue

Erin Roderick, of Hudson, Mass,  had to undergo many rounds of chemo. She got a lot of comfort from her stuffed purple hippo. When she lost her battle with brain cancer, her parents placed a statue of a hippo ballerina from  on her grave right next to hear headstone. Recently it was stolen, and no one could find a replacement because it was discontinued.

Erin’s mom said that Disney was able to locate the original mold of the statue and is having a replacement made for the family.

I think this is such a heartwarming and touching story. Disney definitely sprinkled some pixie dust in this family’s life.

Packing the Park Perfect Disney Makeup Bag

makeup1
makeup1

makeup

You guys have probably already gathered from my previous posts that I love makeup.  I’m enamored with eyeshadow, preoccupied with powder, and lala over lip gloss. I love it! Even I, a true makeup addict, will admit that there is a time and place for makeup.  When you’re on a laid back beach trip, makeup really isn’t a huge concern.  But, I think that a Disney trip is makeup worthy.  What with all the pictures you’ll be taking, you’ll want to look put together.  This is not to say that you should go overboard with your makeup, I mean you don’t want to spend the better part of the morning working on some runway inspired look.  My Disney (Disney World for me) magical makeup mantra is make it minimal but meaningful.  What does my makeup bag for Disney look like?  You can see what I’d pack in the picture above, I made this styleboard on my Polyvore page.  So…today I’m going to “unpack” this my ideas on the perfect park makeup bag by sharing with you a few things I would put in my Park Perfect Disney Makeup Bag.

Let’s get going!

Make it Minimal!

Avoid Over Packing

I pack the basics, breaking it down by face (foundation, concealer,  bronzer, blush), eyes (shadow, liner, primer, mascara), and lips (gloss or color).  I have a set of travel makeup brushes that store conveniently for trips an they stow away in my suitcase nicely!  When it comes to packing eyeshadows, I select a palette with a few color choices rather than selecting a lot of different shadows.  For me, a palette of neutrals will do the job.

Time Counts

Get your morning routine down to the basic application.  On vacation, I take a 20 minute process down to no more than 10 minutes.  Don’t get to fancy, remember that you’ll probably be sweating and there’s a good chance that you’ll have some contact with water (be it a water ride like Splash Mountain or an inevitable afternoon rainstorm).

Less is More

When it comes to reapplication, less is more.  Typically, I only carry oil blotting sheets and lip gloss  into the parks with me for reapplication/touch ups.  If you need more than me, think about what you’d need for touch ups and remember that you’ll be carrying it around the parks (which means that is subject to being damaged, i.e., cracked or melted when you are carrying it around the parks with you).  If you take a midday break from the parks, a touch up in the resort room might be your best option!

Make it Meaningful!

Protect Your Canvas

I’m all about year round SPF!  I use moisturizer with SPF as well as foundation with SPF.  I know that SPF doesn’t always yield the best photos, but for a day in the parks, it is crucial.  I also take care of my lips and skin, in terms of sun protection.   Might as well have double benefit from your makeup!

Make it Count

Look for products that are long wearing.  For example, I make sure to use primer for my eyeshadow to prevent smudging and creasing.  Even something as simple as selecting waterproof mascara can make your makeup last longer, making the best use of your packing, time, and effort!

Don’t Overdo it

You’re going to a theme park, not a beauty contest!  The key to makeup is to let it enhance your beauty, right?  Don’t over do it.

I hope these suggestions will help you get park perfect makeup for your next trip!  So let’s play a little game!  What is the one makeup item that you can’t live without in the parks?  List that below in the comment section!

Thanks for commenting and reading!

See ya real soon!
