Disney is hot and humid in the summer.  If you aren’t used to humidity, you are in for a bit of a shock!  It is going to be hot, but if you plan for it your family will be just fine.

First things first – you MUST stay hydrated.  You can get into trouble very quickly in the heat if you don’t drink enough water.  We hear all of the time that we should be drinking 6-8 glasses of water a day.  When you are in extreme heat, you need to really be careful.  If you are thirsty, you are already on your way to becoming dehydrated.

Here is a great Disney Water Tip ~ You DO NOT have to buy bottled water!  In fact, you don’t even have to pay for a glass of water!  Go to any food kiosk at any park and ask for “a cup of water”…they will give it to you free of charge with ice in it!  No need to carry around those water bottles, just ask a food service Cast Member and you are all set.

If you want to take that tip a step further, bring your own Mio water flavoring or granular packet of lemonade and voila…free drinks!

Another great tip for summertime at Disney is to buy a water mister at WalMart before you leave.  They feel great and are 1/2 the price of the ones that they sell at the parks.

  1. One thing to remember . . . when you’re drinking lots of water make sure you replenish your potassium. Either eat a banana, have some o.j. or a Powerade!

  2. Great tip! Whenever we go to the parks, we have one of those backpack water containers that we fill with ice to make sure we keep hydrated!
