Disney’s Future Plans Might be Changing for Star Wars Land

Hiya! Guys and Gals it is your favorite neighborhood gossip columnist, drum roll please, It is ‘I’ Anonymouse! Now that we got the introduction out of the way, let’s get down to business.

There have been some serious rumors floating around lately. It seems as though Disney CEO Bob Iger has pulled all expansion plans in Anaheim and outright pulled the plug on the majority of Star Wars Land expansion here in Orlando.

This has all been going down in quiet due to the addition of MyMagic+ to Disney World. It seems as though MyMagic+ has cost the Disney corporation way more then they intended to spend. Rumor is they are at well over 1 billion dollars now.

I was told some of the top suits in the company were in Orlando earlier this month for an emergency meeting. When they got back to Cali they started slashing projects. If their financial situation doesn’t improve then some Imagineers may lose their job.

For Disneyland that would mean that Tomorrowland’s Star Wars overlay is being put on hold for at least another year, California Adventure’s Monstropolis expansion is being cancelled, and 2015’s 60th anniversary plans have been changed.

For Disney World that would mean that Star Wars Land at Hollywood Studios would suffer a big reduction in the number of attractions with maybe just a few new rides and restaurant or two after the freeze is over. Avatarland would also be put on hold. We know the transformation of Downtown Disney into Disney Springs has already started and the New Fantasyland at the Magic Kingdom is almost done, so I doubt these project would be stopped midstream.

Just a friendly reminder that none of this has officially been announced yet so at this point it is all rumors until Disney gives us the final word. So don’t kill the messenger, after all if you did that then where would you get your juicy Disney gossip?

Adorable Duffy the Disney Bear Bring Smiles to Adopted Children

It was a ‘bear-y’ special National Adoption Day last Saturday for 30 children in Orange, Osceola and Seminole counties who were joined to their forever families. As part of the adoption ceremonies, each child received a Duffy the Disney Bear to take with back to his or her new home.

From little kids to big kids, the children stood before the judge hugging their Duffy bears as they were officially announced a family. For several, such as the Sharp-Canavan family, it was a happy ending, long in the making.

“We’re officially a family now – the judge said so!” said Evelyn Canavan of her adoption of Anthony and Aulbree Sharp. “We thought it was awesome they received a Duffy Bear. It filled their Christmas wish!”

Over the past two years, Walt Disney World Resort has provided nearly 1300 Duffy Bears to Community Based Care, an agency that oversees foster care and adoption services in Central Florida. Each child who enters the foster care system or is adopted, receives a bear.

Karla Radka, vice president of community impact and leadership development for Community Based Care, has seen how the cuddly bears have had a positive effect on the children.

“Disney has been such a great support of our organization,” said Radka. “The Duffy Bears are a forever memory each child will have to remember this special day when they joined their forever family.”

This is awesome. What a great memory for the kids.

Magic Kingdom Makes Disney History As All Disney World Parks Go Turnstile Free

Earlier this week the Magic Kingdom Park reached a milestone in Disney history when the park’s final touch point entry system was unveiled at the park – a moment that signified that all Walt Disney World Resort park entrances are now turnstile free.

The first park to trade turnstiles for touch point entries was Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park, which became the first turnstile-free park in late February. Similar replacements have taken place at parks across Walt Disney World property throughout the year, making it easier than ever for guests – especially large groups, or families with strollers or wheelchairs – to enter the park together. To enter a park, guests now simply touch their ticket media, Annual Pass or MagicBand, which is still in it’s testing phase, to the touch point on their way into the park. Cast members are still stationed at entrances to greet guests and assist when needed.

One of those cast members is Awilda Martinez, who has worked at the main entrance of Magic Kingdom Park for more than 30 years, and has personally seen the difference the new touch point entry system has made for guests visiting the park.

“The guests love the new entrances. It’s all been positive. Even children get a smile on their face when they see the green light. They’ve never seen anything like this before in their lives!”

Disney’s Aulani Resort and Spa Named Best Resort For Families

One of the World’s Leading Travel and Tourism publishers, Fodor’s Travel, has named Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa, Best For Families. While those of us who read ChipandCo already know what a great location it is, we can’t help but enjoy that Fodor’s agrees with us.

The specific recognition Aulani received was “Best For Families” in their “Top 10 Hawaiian Resorts For 2013”. I’m guessing that Aulani will continue to be recognized year after year with this honor.

As you may have read previously, Aulani offers something for everyone. I’m sure many of you would agree that the holiday season is one of the absolute best times of the entire year at Disney World Resort. Much of the fun is already in full swing, from Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party at Magic Kingdom Park to the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights at Hollywood Studios. And starting November 29, Holidays Around the World returns for another festive season at Epcot.

Throughout the day, World Showcase comes alive with holiday traditions from around the globe. Visit with Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus at The American Adventure, and wish them a “Merry Christmas!” Enjoy tales from kind-hearted witch La Befana in Italy Pavilion, the agile Monkey King in China Pavilion, and Los Tres Reyes Magos in Mexico Pavilion. From celebrations of Hanukkah and Kwanzaa to Japanese customs of the new year, you’ll be immersed in the cultural heritage of each nation.

New to Holidays Around the World this year are the Canadian Holiday Voyageurs. This group, featuring members of the popular Celtic rock band Off Kilter, will take you on a musical journey across the Great White North, exploring unique holiday traditions from the various regions of Canada. It promises to be a rousing, tune-filled good time!

Of course, there’s even more to enjoy at Holidays Around the World. You won’t want to miss the uplifting “Joyful! A Gospel Celebration of the Season” and the inspiring, nightly Candlelight Processional. And cap off your day with a spectacular grand finale to “IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth,” bringing a holiday message of peace and goodwill – along with a ton of impressive fireworks!

In the spirit of Thanksgiving & Black Friday, Disney Interactive is giving players access to five new Disney-created Toy Boxes in appreciation for all of the support from the community.

Details for each Toy Box are below:

Toy Story Claw – Find the 10 lost aliens and return them to their ship! Drop them into a ESPN hoop for extra credit.

Big Thunder – Race through a mine inspired by the classic Disneyland attraction Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.

As a refresher, directions on how to download new user-generated Toy Box worlds, as well as how to submit Toy Box creations are below.

How to download new Toy Boxes:

Select “Toy Box” from the Disney Infinity Main Menu

Select “Toy Box Share” and “Disney’s Toy Boxes.”

There will be a list of all the featured Toy Boxes for players to download.

When you’re ready to submit your Toy Box for consideration, follow these directions:

Bring up the Pause Menu and select “Online/Multiplayer.”

Then select “Toy Box Share” > “Disney’s Toy Boxes” > “Submit to Disney.”

Facebook stickers are illustrations or animations of characters that you can send to friends. They’re a great way to share how you’re feeling and add personality to your chats. This is how you add them if you are using an iPhone.

Scroll the smileys sideways to see available stickers and tap any sticker to send it instantly.

The free “Frozen” sticker pack will need to be added to your selection, it is not automatic.

The Disney Fantasy is celebrating the “Royal” in everyone, and whisking children and parents off to a magical affair during the Royal Court Royal Tea. This royal teatime provides families with classic Disney entertainment as well as exclusive meet and greet opportunities that are sure to evoke nostalgia in even the biggest “kids” who attend.

In the Royal Court, children are greeted by Lady Chamomile, the Royal Tea Hostess, and then crowned as young princesses or dubbed as royal knights before they are escorted to their seats where they encounter more surprises.
