24 Hour Character Party at the Magic Kingdom – Yes, Please!

Howdy Hi, girls and guys! It’s your favorite Disney Gossip Columnist here — Anonymouse! Well, I’ve been a tiptoeing around Magic Kingdom lately looking for some amazing gossip just for you. If you missed my post last night about Push the Talking Trashcan you can check it out here. Now I hearing there’s going to be a 24 Hour Character Party at the Magic Kingdom.

So, you’re probably wondering when this is rumored to be happening. My sources say it’s in May, around Memorial Day like last year! Perhaps a Disney Villain theme to celebrate the release of Disney’s Malificent? I touched on it briefly last year and it seems like Disney is moving ahead with it.

Tokyo Disney Resort’s Springtime Celebration

Tokyo Disney Resort just announced their plans for this year’s springtime celebration. The springtime celebration will be at both Tokyo Disneyland Park and Tokyo DisneySea Park from April 2-June 23, 2014.

At Tokyo Disneyland there will be a “Disney’s Easter” celebration. Which includes some fun things like, a secret Easter garden, and a new “Hippity-Hoppity Springtime” parade that will feature Disney characters and Easter bunnies. If you are lucky enough to be there during this time you can participate in an egg hunt as well.

At Tokyo DisneySea, guests can celebrate with “Mickey & Duffy’s Spring Voyage.” In this Spring Voyage, Mickey, Duffy, Minnie Mouse and ShellieMay go on a cruise from Cape Cod as they see how spring is celebrated around Tokyo DisneySea. They visit Mediterranean Harbor and then travel to the American Waterfront for an Easter party, finally you arrive at the Arabian Coast for a seasonal celebration. At every port there will be fun with the characters.

Electric Vehicle Charging Stations Now at Disneyland

As part of ongoing environmental stewardship efforts, the Disneyland Resort now offers 20 ChargePoint charging ports on the first level of the Mickey & Friends parking structure for guests with electric vehicles. To use the service, guests with a ChargePoint account simply scan their ChargePoint card. Those who need an account can easily register for a free ChargePoint account at the charging station, or online at www.chargepoint.com. Separate charging stations also are available to cast members for a total of 30 charging ports at the Resort.

“The Disneyland Resort is now home to one of the largest collections of public EV charging stations in Southern California,” said Pasquale Romano, CEO of ChargePoint. “We are excited to help the Disneyland Resort become EV ready and have such an iconic destination in our EV charging network. ChargePoint is the nation’s largest EV charging network with more than 15,000 locations.”

Hey there guys and gals Anonymouse here. I have some horrible Disney Gossip tonight from one of my favorite Disney Magazines – Orlando Attractions Magazine. They are reporting via their Facebook Page that Disney will be closing the lid on Push the Talking Trashcan. Push has been entertaining guests for years in Magic Kingdom’s Tomorrowland, and is a fan favorite for fun photos like the one above. The gossip being spread is that Saturday February 8th is his last day.

Disney Interactive Studios plans to layoff hundreds of workers

Disney Interactive Studios has plans to lay off several hundred members, mostly from the Playdom social games division. While Disney Infinity, the action figure based video game has been popular and successful, the social game division has not seen as much success.

John Pleasants, co-president of Interactive, was the former CEO of Playdom and EA executive until Disney acquired it. In November of 2013, John Pleasants was replaced by Jimmy Pitaro. Pitaro announced the planned layoffs after an internal discussion about the reorganization of the senior executive team. The layoff and subsequent changes appear to follow in the footsteps of Disney’s acquisition of the LucasArts in the beginning of 2013.

Following the acquisition, the internal development of LucasArts was subsequently shutdown.

The good news for Infinity owners and players is that new versions of Infinity will continue to be developed, including the addition of characters from the Star Wars and Marvel Superheros lines.

Disney World’s Rapid Fill Secure Refillable Mugs is a big Failure

Howdy guys and gals! It’s me – Anonymouse back with some Walt Disney World Resort gossip for you. Chippy has had me scurrying about to gather more and more gossip for you! I’ve heard that Rapid Fill Secure Refillable Mugs Program is a BIG failure! That’s right, folks, Disney is losing money hand over fist on this program.

Disney now has new Resort Mugs with a chip in them which costs extra and drives the prices of the mugs up. Not only that, but Disney had to install systems to read these chips on all the soda machines at every resort. More cost = higher prices!

Guests have quickly become aware that it’s only the soda machines that are locked down with this new system. So, they drink Hot Chocolate, Coffee, Tea, and Juice instead. This increased consumption drives the cost through the roof. Further, it’s been rumored that the Deluxe Resort managers hate the system. So, they just turn it off all together. Now you have free soda in the mix as well.

Guests are fed up, managers are fed up, other cast members are fed up…so, who tested this system and declared it great? Why wasn’t it tied to the MagicBand?

It’s highly likely we’ll be seeing some changes to this system soon!
