A live-action feature inspired by the classic fairy tale, “Cinderella” brings to life the timeless images from Disney’s 1950 animated masterpiece as fully-realized characters in a visually dazzling spectacle for a whole new generation.

The story of “Cinderella” follows the fortunes of young Ella (Lily James) whose merchant father remarries following the death of her mother. Eager to support her loving father, Ella welcomes her new stepmother (Cate Blanchett) and her daughters Anastasia (Holliday Grainger) and Drisella (Sophie McShera) into the family home. But, when Ella’s father unexpectedly passes away, she finds herself at the mercy of a jealous and cruel new family. Finally relegated to nothing more than a servant girl covered in ashes, and spitefully renamed Cinderella, Ella could easily begin to lose hope. Yet, despite the cruelty inflicted upon her, Ella is determined to honor her mother’s dying words and to “have courage and be kind.” She will not give in to despair nor despise those who mistreat her. And then there is the dashing stranger she meets in the woods. Unaware that he is really a prince, not merely an apprentice at the Palace, Ella finally feels she has met a kindred soul. It appears her fortunes may be about to change when the Palace sends out an open invitation for all maidens to attend a ball, raising Ella’s hopes of once again encountering the charming Kit (Richard Madden). Alas, her stepmother forbids her to attend and callously rips apart her dress. But, as in all good fairy tales, help is at hand, and a kindly beggar woman (Helena Bonham-Carter) steps forward and – armed with a pumpkin and a few mice – changes Cinderella’s life forever.

A live-action feature inspired by the classic fairy tale, “Cinderella” brings to life the timeless images from Disney’s 1950 animated masterpiece as fully-realized characters in a visually dazzling spectacle for a whole new generation.

The screenplay is by Chris Weitz (“About a Boy,” “The Golden Compass”).

Young Players Learn From WNBA Stars at Disney’s WWOS During Inagural WNBA Preseason Tournament

WWOS Globe

For the first time in history the WNBA has decided to hold a preseason tournament, and where better to host the inaugural event than Disney’s Wide World of Sports! The event spanned three days and included games, coaching clinics, an awards ceremony, and a player panel. The weekend concluded with an Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) Awards Ceremony recognizing WNBA players Courtney Vandersloot, Tamara Young, and Allie Quigley.

Perhaps most importantly, the WNBA chose to hold this event in conjunction with an AAU girl’s tournament. Aspiring young female basketball players seized the rare opportunity to interact with their idols during WNBA coaching clinics and player autograph sessions. The young fans were clearly excited to sit alongside their favorite players as countless photos were taken.

The AAU players had a packed schedule, and spent most of their weekend within the Wide World of Sports Complex. Disney’s Wide World of Sports is primarily known as the Spring Training ground for the Atlanta Braves and more recently for hosting the RunDisney expos and family events. The Wide World of Sports hosted the weekend in the HP Field House and the Jostens Center and both venues easily accommodated multiple games side by side along with concessions and ample spectator seating.

This was my first time attending a non RunDisney event at the Wide World of Sports, and I had a great time watching the games! Disney did a great job of providing ample parking, affordable tickets, and plenty of meal options. Have you ever attended an event at Disney’s Wide World of Sports? Did you get to visit the parks while you were here? Would you ever attend an event like this during a vacation to Walt Disney World? Let me know!

Undercover,” it was announced today by Adam Bonnett, Executive Vice President, Original Programming, Disney Channels Worldwide. The multi-camera series, executive-produced by Rob Lotterstein (“Shake it Up“), begins production this summer in Los Angeles for an early 2015 premiere on Disney Channel.

The comedy focuses on K.C. Cooper, a high school math whiz who’s training to be an undercover super spy, following in the footsteps of her parents. Each episode finds the Coopers balancing typical family issues while performing undercover missions to protect the country.Bonnett said, “Zendaya and Rob Lotterstein are a powerhouse combination to produce Disney Channel‘s next action-driven sitcom. This show has all of the Disney Channel attributes – family, friendship, humor and heart all from the point of view of an incredibly talented and relatable teenage girl.”

Zendaya became a global star through Disney Channel’s series “Shake It Up” and she went on to capture the hearts of viewers on ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars.” She next stars in the Disney Channel Original Movie “Zapped,” premiering Friday, June 27 (8:00 p.m., ET/PT). Star Wars Rebels characters at Star Wars Weekends?

sww
sww

SWW

Howdy girls and boys! Anonymouse here and I’ve been spending some time at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. I’ve heard that Characters from the new Star Wars Rebels CGI animated series may be making appearances during the upcoming Star Wars Weekends.

I can’t wait to see which ones will be there. Perhaps, we’ll meet Kanan Jarrus (voiced by Freddie Prinze Jr), who survived the Great Jedi Purge and is now a renegade Jedi or Ezra Bridger (voiced by Taylor Gray), a charismatic 14 year old living on the Outer Rim World of Lothal who is a thief and con artist.

Star Wars Rebels will be premiering in the Fall of 2014 on the Disney Channel. According to actor John Morton, who will provide the voice of Boba Fett, “Rebels is the key. Rebels will provide the link to bring in the continuity from Clone Wars, the original trilogy and the prequels to enable Lucasfilm and Disney to tee-up Episode VII, If you want my informed opinion, it will enable Episode VII to leapfrog over the whole trilogy.”

Let us know who you see during Star Wars Weekends. Please leave your comments below with your best guess.

Star Wars Dine In Galactic Breakfast: Disney Dining Review

star wars dine in vader

For the first time this year Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World has Star Wars themed character meals available for Star Wars Weekends and the few weeks before the festivities begin. These two themed meals are from what I can tell completely sold out and they sold out very fast. I was fortunate enough to get my reservations made for both of the dining experiences.

On May the 4th, 2014 I attended the breakfast character experience and to be honest it was most impressive. I am a seasoned character meal diner at Walt Disney World and I was expecting great character interaction and decent food but nothing too good. I was pleasantly surprised at how tasty my meal was and I was impressed with how much food I got. I had not been expecting to get pastries and a breakfast appetizer that would be followed by my entree and a fun dessert. Needless to say I would do this again and here is why.

We arrived right on time for our reservation at 10:35am, we had to make a pit stop and pick up something to trade with the Jawas from Tattooine Traders. The crowd waiting outside to eat was massive and there were so many fans dressed in Star Wars shirts, Her Universe and some even in costumes.

We ended up having to wait 30 minutes past our reservation time which did not surprise me for the first day. Many people were getting frustrated with the long wait but we went into it with patient heads on. Once our name was called we got in line to take a picture with Darth Vader and Boba Fett. This was a great way to get two of the most popular characters during Star Wars Weekends at one time. I had to stand by the Fett because I was wearing my Her Universe Boba Fett shirt.

star wars character meal

The picture was nice because they took some on my phone but they also took them via Disney’s Photopass and they gave you a commemorative photo pass card. The images on the card are included with the price of your meal which is nice because photo pass pictures can be expensive to buy.

We were taken through the restaurant to our car and when we sat down I got a chance to look at the menu and I loved all the names of the food items. I think they did a great job theming the food to Star Wars. There were food choices like The Dune Sea, The Kessel Run and The Tatooine Sunrise.

star wars breakfast menu

When we sat down I had to order blue milk to drink because it just felt appropriate. It just tasted like regular milk but slightly sweeter so if you go it is definitely a fun treat to order.

The movie screen at this particular Star Wars restaurant usually shows old Sci Fi movie clips but for this event they are showing all clips from Star Wars films. This was well done as they took you through the entire saga over the course of your meal. They would highlight each film with iconic scenes and then do a mashup of all the films from one trilogy at a time. They even had a sing along version of the theme.

Before our food arrived we got our first character interaction with Greedo. I was unprepared because it happened so quickly otherwise I would have had some witty comments to propel fun interaction.

greedo meet and greet

After our fun time with Greedo we settled back in to our seats and our pastries and appetizers arrived. The pastries were amazing with fun Star Wars nuances and the plate even said Star Wars on it. My appetizer was the fruit and yogurt parfait and I loved my little Yoda melon garnish.

Next up was Stormtrooper time. We actually got 2 and they were so funny. Stormtroopers at disney are always amazing but these guys were really on their game as they decided to take me captive.

stormtroopes meet and greet

Finally it was time for food…well actually we got our food pretty quick and I believe it may have been before the Stormtroopers. My husband got the Kessel Run and I got the Tattooine Sunrise. Can I just say right now I feel slightly bad for all the cast members that got thrown into the Star Wars breakfast. These poor cast members were having such a hard time with words like Tattooine, Alderaan and Gamorrean.

It was hard to take good food pictures because the lighting inside the restaurant is very dark and themed to a drive in movie theater. I will start with mine. It was traditional scrambled eggs, bacon and breakfast potatoes. The bacon was perfectly crispy which rocked as I love crispy bacon. The eggs were a perfect consistency nice and fluffy with a good amount of seasoning on them that was not too much. The breakfast potatoes were the interesting part as they were slightly cheesy but they were still very good.I would eat this again for sure!

tattooine sunrise

My husband had the Kessel Run. He really like it and he at the entire thing. He said everything was made weal and his Beef Tenderloin was cooked perfectly.

kessel run

I think next time we will try something else just to get a sense of what other offerings they have. I will be attending the breakfast a second time during weekend 2.

As we were finishing up our last character came around and this was the little Jawa. They were unfortunately rushed as there were many people that didn’t see them. I traded them a small star wars character pack figure (sold at Disney parks) and got a tinker bell pin. It was a pretty awesome and successful trade in my book. We took a picture but had to do it fast so it came out blurry but thats ok. I came to find out later the pin I got was actually a special pin that came from the Year Of A Million Dreams at Walt Disney World and was only available if a cast member gave it to you. That makes this pin very special to me.

jawa meet and greet

jawa trading pin

All in all once we were done it had been a pretty spectacular and force filled morning It was definitely worth the cost of the meal which is $47.99 for adults and $29.99 for kids. I say this because you get a good solid stress free breakfast with character interactions that typically you would be waiting for at a minimum of an hour in line for each one. If you are a character person then this breakfast is for you. I can only hope they do this again next year. I would even like it if this was a permanent part of the park.

Disney Interactive and Harmonix Music Systems are taking a fantastic journey in the upcoming “Disney Fantasia: Music Evolved” with the announcement of the game’s newest realm, “The Capsule.” Set in a modular space station orbiting around Earth, the latest realm will feature Elton John’s “Rocket Man” and Peter Gabriel’s “In Your Eyes” as playable songs.

Previously announced realms “The Hollow” and “The Haven” have taken place in forest environments; “The Capsule” is the first to be set in space, introducing a new sensory experience for users that extends the vision and legacy of the original Fantasia film. At the center of “The Capsule” lives a lone astronaut monkey who is cut off from all forms of communication. What begins as a claustrophobic, deactivated space station, transforms into a fully-powered, living machine as players perform “In Your Eyes” and “Rocket Man.” These songs were originally announced at PAX East last month.

Check it out:

“Disney Fantasia: Music Evolved” is a breakthrough musical motion video game inspired by Disney’s classic animated film “Fantasia,” and will be available for Xbox One, the all-in-one games and entertainment system from Microsoft and Kinect for Xbox 360 in fall 2014. How far in advance should I book my Disney airfare?

Alaska airlines Disneyland Plane
Alaska airlines Disneyland Plane

Alaska Airlines Disneyland Plane

Every day I get emails from clients about airfare to Disneyland or Walt Disney World. Previously, I wrote about the best days of the week to book airfare and which days of the week to travel by air.

Today, I want to give you the inside scoop on how far out from your trip to purchase your airline tickets.  Recently, the worker bees at CheapAir did a huge study on how far out from your trip to purchase airfare.

Here are the latest suggestions according to their exhaustive study and research:

The prime booking window is between 104-29 days prior to your trip.

  • The best booking day in that window is day 54, although this can vary depending on the popularity of where and when you are traveling.  For instance, if you are flying to Orlando to visit the Mouse in mid-June or Christmastime, two of the busiest seasons at Disney, you should book before that prime booking window.  When travel dates are popular, the airline has no reason to discount those tickets…buy early.
  • Buying tickets cheap “at the last minute”…within 2 weeks of your trip, is a HORRIBLE idea and will cost you.

I know that watching for airfare can be a bit like gambling, you watch the fare rise and fall and then kick yourself for not buying at the low point.  Follow these guidelines and you are less likely to fall prey to the airlines pricing games.

The food is great, and you can count on Safari Donald and his friends to visit your table for laughs, photos and autographs. If you are a fan of  Tusker House (like we are!) you will want to know that beginning Sunday, June 8, they will be extending their lunch meal period. This is in an effort to accommodate more Guests, and offer up times that are more typical of other lunch and dinner reservation times available across Walt Disney World.

Lunch will now be offered 11:00am – 3:30pm and dinner will begin at 4:30pm. Breakfast times will stay the same: 8:00am – 10:55am. Remember that character dining with Donald Duck and his friends will is only offered at breakfast and lunch. In addition on the evenings that Harambe Nights will be hosted at Animal Kingdom (every Saturday, June 7-August 9) dinner meal periods will not be available at Tusker House due to the early closure of the land. Also, there will be no dinner meal period on Thursday, June 5th when an event rehearsal will take place.
