Disney Voluntears Continue to Make a Difference Around the World

Disney Voluntears continue to help others by making positive impacts around the world.

Recently the Voluntears were in Argentina. They visited the Garrahan Hospital for a screening of Violetta in Concert. This is part of a program that sprinkles some pixie dust into the lives of sick children by bringing them Disney Theatrical releases.

A couple of other recognition’s that Disney Voluntears have received:

The Disney English Academic Training Team was honored as the 2014 Disney VoluntEARS Team of the Year in China.
A Disneyland, cast member Mohammad Jaffrey was named the 2014 Disney VoluntEAR of the Year. The Disneyland Resort President presented him with this amazing honor.

Celebrate the Fourth at Disney World!

Disney World does the holidays like no one else! This will be my first 4th of July at Disney World and I am so excited! If you will be attending the festivities, here are the events that are going on around the parks.

Fireworks:

Magic Kingdom

They will be on July 3rd and the 4th, at 9:00 pm. The amazing show is called ”Disney’s Celebrate America! A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky”.

Don’t forget about the Flag Retreat. It happens everyday at 5:00 pm. However, It is a little more special on Independence Day!

Hollywood Studios

“Rockin’ 4th of July Celebration.” There will be a DJ at the Sorcerer Hat at 6 pm. At 7, 8, 9 and 10 p.m. to get the party started! A crowd favorite, Mulch, Sweat & Shears will put their own spin on things, in what is called a “musical road trip,” at 7, 8, 9 and 10 p.m. Then the big finale a rock ‘n roll fireworks spectacular at 10:15 p.m.

Epcot:

The American Adventure is an obvious must for the 4th. You will get the chance to meet the characters in their patriotic outfits right outside the pavilion.

The Spirit of America Fife and Drum Corp, performs at 1, 2:15, 3:30, 4 and 4:45 p.m.

The Voices of Liberty will be performing throughout the day, inside The America Gardens Theatre at 12:30, 1:45, and 3 p.m., and inside The American Adventure Rotunda at 4:15 and 5 p.m.

Don’t forget the Sounds Like Summer concert series on July 4, featuring Don’t Look Back ~ Boston Tribute Band. They will perform at the American Gardens Theater at 5:15, 6:30, 7:45 and 9 p.m.

“IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth.” IllumiNations will be at 10 p.m. Of course they will include their own tribute to America, in the 5-minute finale “Heartbeat of Freedom”.

A “Frozen” Ride Might be a Reality at Walt Disney World

Hiya! I have some BIG “Frozen” gossip for you!! You know you missed me, just admit it? I missed all of you too. Well, all except Chippy of course.

Let’s get down to business. I know we have a lot of “Frozen” fans out there. There has been a lot of speculation about a “Frozen” ride replacing the Maelstrom ride in Norway at Epcot. Well I have it on very good authority that this is becoming a reality. A little birdie told me that some Imagineers have been riding the Maelstrom ride a lot lately, don’t they have the best job? They were torn between just adding some “Frozen” elements to the ride or a full on “Frozen” overhaul. I am so happy to report that they have chosen a total “Frozen” overhaul!!! The only thing that will remain is the ride train.

This has been happening behind the scenes for quite sometime now.

How do you feel about having a Frozen Winter Wonderland? I think it’s awesome and I can’t wait!!

The Main Pool at the Wilderness Lodge will be Closed Later this Year

Later this year, there is a big refurbishment coming to the Wilderness Lodge at Disney World. The Silver Creek Springs pool is scheduled to close for the refurbishment on Sept. 3, 2014. It is supposed to re-open on Nov 28, 2014. Guests will still be able to use the quiet pool at the resort. Guests will also be able to use the pools at the Contemporary Resort and Fort Wilderness & Campgrounds.

There will be boats and buses available if you would like to use one of the pools at the other resorts.

We don’t know why there are doing such an extensive refurbishment of the pool. I am sure it will be even more beautiful when it’s done.

Check with Disney if you are considering a reservation change. You know they will work with you!

Accompanied by Nova, Iron Fist, Power Man and White Tiger, Spider-Man and the team take on dangerous S.H.I.E.L.D. missions and encounter some of their most thrilling adventures yet.

Frozen Baby Names Gaining in Popularity

I think we all saw this coming. People love “Frozen” so naturally people fall in love with the name of their favorite character. So needless to say Elsa and Anna are gaining popularity, in the baby name realm for the girls. Elsa is the most popular so far. Elsa ranked 234 last year and now it is ranking 183. Anna is not to far behind, with a ranking of 35 this year. Anna was already fairly popular, it ranked 37 last year.

This usually happens with very popular movies. In a way I can understand it because of the personalities of the characters. I am all for a name with a meaning, that is how I picked my daughter’s name.

New Rock Your Disney Side Dance Party coming to Hollywood Studios?

Hola Ladies and Gents! Guess who? Ok you know who it is. Your favorite gossip writer “Anonymouse”. Well just in case you didn’t get enough of “Rock Your Disney Side” at Disney 24 Hour event, and who isn’t up for more Disney fun? I hear there will be a”Rock Your Disney Side” dance party at Hollywood Studios. I am guessing it will be in front of the hat. How cool would that be? Just don’t tell Chippy no one wants to see him “Rock his Disney Side”.

Well that is not it, oh no there is more! I have also heard that there is currently a “Rock Your Disney Side” mobile bus party! This goes around to different resorts and dancers get off the bus and put on a show. I have not seen this yet, but I hope I do.

Have you seen the mobile dance party?

Update: Well of course good ole Chippy did not post this in time. Why you ask? Because he is a slacker! The party started tonight. There will be a live band called The Hollywood Rockers they appear at the Sorcerer’s Hat Stage. I hear they are quite the rowdy bunch! While the band takes a break the DJ spins some hot summertime tunes. Feel free to join the party and get up and dance with some of your favorite Disney characters. The characters will be dressed in their summertime best. Because they want to rock their summer side too.

Are you always on the search for the perfect Selfie? Well you will see a huge postcard set up so that you can remember Rocking Your Summer Side with a perfect picture.

The “Rock Your Summer Side” Dance Party starts today and goes all summer long, nightly through August 22, 2014.

Entertainment Details Announced for Diagon Alley: Imagine wandering up the cobbled street of Diagon Alley, turning into nearby Carkitt Market, and enjoying a live performance by one of the wizarding world’s most popular singing sensations or seeing stories from The Tales of Beedle the Bard come to life right before your eyes. Universal Orlando Resort revealed the exciting details behind the unique entertainment and interactive experiences that will debut as part of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley, the allnew, magnificently themed land opening this summer at Universal Studios Florida.

While exploring the streets of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley, guests will be able to enjoy the following shows:

The Tales of Beedle the Bard, a new stage show taking place within Carkitt Market, a covered, outdoor shopping area inspired by London’s famous markets. The show will feature a troupe of four from the Wizarding Academy of Dramatic Arts who have set up to perform a trunk show using stylized scenic pieces, props and puppetry fabricated by Emmyawardwinning designer Michael Curry. Curry is best known as the production designer on projects including the 2010 Winter Olympics opening ceremony and the 2012 Super Bowl halftime show. The performers will retell two of the famed tales of Beedle the Bard, a 15thcentury author of wizarding fairytales. The show will feature “The Fountain of Fair Fortune”, in which three witches and a knight meet in their attempt to reach the Fountain in an enchanted garden, and “The Tale of the Three Brothers” – featured in the seventh film “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1” – in which three wizard brothers come face to face with Death.

The Singing Sorceress: Celestina Warbeck and the Banshees, a musical performance featuring the everpopular singing sensation of the wizarding world, known from the books as Molly Weasley’s favorite singer, who she listens to on the WizardingWireless Network. The swinging show will feature neverbefore heard songs including, “A Cauldron Full Of Hot, Strong Love,” “You Stole My Cauldron But You Can’t Have My Heart” and “You Charmed The Heart Right Out Of Me”. These titles were all created by J.K. Rowling and the lyrics also include never-before-revealed information on Celestina’s wand from Pottermore.

There will also be various interactive opportunities for guests to enjoy while visiting London and Diagon Alley.

The Knight Bus, which provides emergency transport for the stranded witch or wizard in the Harry Potter books and films, is located in the London area of the new land. Guests will be able to meet and chat with the Knight Bus Conductor, and witness his rapport with the shrunken head hanging from the rearview mirror. The iconic threestory, purple Knight Bus was inspired by its first appearance in the third film, “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.”

Gringotts Money Exchange, a place where guests will be able to interact with a Gringotts bank goblin and exchange their Muggle currency for Wizarding Bank Notes. These bank notes can be used within both Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade (and throughout the rest of Universal’s two theme parks) to purchase snacks and items from the shops.
Ollivanders: Makers of Fine Wands since 382 BC, one of the wizarding world’s premier wand shops. Visitors to Ollivanders will step into the small, dusty shop and experience “a wand choosing a wizard” firsthand, reminiscent of one of the most iconic scenes from the Harry Potter books and films. This interactive experience is also available at Ollivanders in Hogsmeade at Universal’s Islands of Adventure.

New! The “Weasley Family” Gets a Sneak Peek of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter Diagon Alley: On June 5, James Phelps, Oliver Phelps and Bonnie Wright from the popular Harry Potter film series enjoyed a sneak peek of the highly anticipated, spectacularly themed environment, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley at Universal Studios Florida. The actors – who portrayed siblings Fred, George and Ginny Weasley in the films – toured the new land with Thierry Coup, Senior Vice President of Universal Creative, and Alan Gilmore, Art Director of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter and the Harry Potter films.
During their visit, they:

Took the journey between Hogsmeade Station and King’s Cross Station aboard the Hogwarts Express
Stepped inside memorable shops within Diagon Alley, including the Weasley twins’ very own shop – Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes
Encountered goblins at work in the ornate marble hall of Gringotts bank
Sampled the world’s only Butterbeer icecream at Florean Fortescue’s IceCream Parlour

New! Construction Walls Down at London Embankment of Diagon Alley: On Monday, June 9th, constructions walls came down around Hogsmeade Station and the London Embankment. Both areas looks spectacular, but neither are open to the public as of this writing. A grand opening date has not yet been announced for Diagon Alley.

Season two of Disney’s popular animated comedy series “Gravity Falls,” starring Jason Ritter (“Parenthood”) and Kristen Schaal (“The Daily Show with Jon Stewart”) as Dipper and Mabel Pines, twins who spend the summer with their eccentric Great Uncle Stan (aka Grunkle Stan), debuts FRIDAY, AUGUST 1 (9:00 p.m., ET/PT) on Disney Channel and MONDAY, AUGUST 4 (9:00 p.m., ET/PT) on Disney XD. Thereafter new episodes will debut on Disney XD with subsequent airings on Disney Channel.

“Gravity Falls” creator and executive producer, Alex Hirsch, announced the season premiere during the “Gravity Falls Live!” panel at the Los Angeles Film Festival on Saturday, June 14.

The new season finds Dipper and Mabel digging deeper than ever to learn the secret history of Journal #3’s unknown author, while Stan (voiced by Hirsch) works on a secret project that could change everything in the basement of the Mystery Shack. Scarier creatures, weirder magic and new hilarious characters, including vengeful villains and love interests, will be introduced. Upcoming guest stars include Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker in Star Wars Saga) and Patton Oswalt (ABC’s “The Goldbergs”). Throughout the season, unique puzzle pieces with secret decodable messages will be revealed at the end of each episode’s credits.

The season premiere episode, titled “Scary-oke,” finds the Pines family resolving to get back to normal after the Lil’ Gideon incident. They throw a “Mystery Shack is Back” party, but some unwelcome guests crash it. In the second episode, “Into the Bunker,” premiering exclusively on Disney XD, Dipper’s secret journal pages lead him and the gang to the author’s hidden bunker where they find themselves face-to-face with a mysterious figure from Gravity Falls’ lore.

“Gravity Falls” Marathon, featuring the entire collection of season one episodes and shorts, airs on Disney XD (10:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m., ET/PT).

FRIDAY, AUGUST 1

Season two premiere episode, “Scary-oke,” debuts on Disney Channel (9:00 p.m., ET/PT) with live simulcast on WATCH Disney Channel for verified users.

“Scary-oke” and “Into the Bunker” are available on WATCH Disney XD for verified users and Disney XD On Demand.

“Gravity Falls Magic Rune Mystery” game launches on WATCH Disney XD.

“Mabel’s Doodleblaster” space game launches on DisneyXD.com/GravityFalls.

Entire collection of season one episodes are available on WATCH Disney XD for verified users throughout the month of August.

MONDAY, AUGUST 4

Season two, featuring two back-to-back episodes, “Scary-oke” and “Into the Bunker,” premieres on Disney XD (9:00 p.m., ET/PT) with live simulcast on WATCH Disney XD for verified users.

In addition to Ritter and Schaal, “Gravity Falls” stars Hirsch as Grunkle Stan and Soos, and Linda Cardellini as Wendy. Recurring guest stars include Will Forte as Tyler the Cute Biker, Jennifer Coolidge as Lazy Susan, Stephen Root as Bud Gleeful, T.J. Miller as Robbie, Gregg Turkington as Toby Determined, Kevin Michael Richardson as Sheriff Blubs, Keith Ferguson as Deputy Durland and Thurop Van Orman as Lil’ Gideon Gleeful.
