monorail

According to WDW News Today a possible lightning struck the Epcot monorail line Sunday evening around 6pm and forced an evacuation. The evacuation occurred near the Wilderness Lodge and as of right now there have been no reports of injury. About 120 guests we’re evacuated as the monorail was without power.

The news broke via twitter and there has been many photos and additional information being tweeted. As soon as we get the official word from Disney we will update this post so check back with us for more details.

First look at new Alex and Ani bangles.

Alex and Ani bracelets are a hot item at Disney Parks right now. Earlier this summer Disney released a beautiful new Collection featuring park icons, and characters.

On July 14th, 6 new character bracelets will be joining the collection at Disney Parks. You’ll be happy to know that the Ariel charm I hinted at earlier this summer, has in fact been confirmed for this new release! Not wanting our favorite Siren to travel alone, Rapunzel will also be joining the fashionable collection.

Ariel and Rapunzel Bangles.
Ariel and Rapunzel Bangles.

Since we can’t let princesses have all the fun, some classic favorites will also be dropping in. My personal favorite is the original angry duck himself Donald, along with Mickey, Pluto, and Goofy. These shiny baubles come in rafaelian gold and silver and can be found in select shops in Disneyland or Walt Disney World resorts. The earlier summer launch is also available from Disney Store Online.

With so many already and available and coming on the horizon it’s hard to imagine they have even more planned! I heard there might be a bit of a nightmare coming up in the collection. Personally I’d love to see some Frozen Alex and Ani bangles!

To order yours please check out our friends at Mouse to Your House. They can pick up anything big or small at the Disney Parks. They are the official Personal Disney Shopper of Chip and Co!  Just let them know Chip sent ya!

5 Tips to make the most of your “Frozen” day at Hollywood Studios

Frozen Summer Fun Live event
Frozen Summer Fun Live event

Frozen Summer Fun Live Event

We thought you would enjoy some helpful hints to make the most of your ‘Frozen’ day at Hollywood Studios.

1. Enjoy Summer Fun with Olaf:

Guests who snag a take-along Olaf at the park entrance and throughout the park can snap photos of themselves with the silly, summer-loving snowman and use the hashtag #OlafSummerFun for a chance to have their photos featured in the evening’s grand finale. Olaf also appears throughout the day on screen at the Sorcerer’s Hat Icon Stage, where he will share updates from his summer adventures.

2. Join in “Frozen” Sing-Along Celebrations:

Melt away the heat of summer with laughter and singing during For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration. Guests can make their way to Premiere Theater once the park opens to receive a return-time for one of the fun-filled showings of the sing-along which runs from 12:30 to 7 p.m. daily and features Anna, Elsa, Kristoff and the newly-appointed royal historians of Arendelle. There also is a standby queue line for the sing-along.

3. Don’t Miss the “Big Summer Blowout

Choose from treasures and treats, flurries and ice, or both! Guests visiting Soundstage One have two choices: one for “Frozen” merchandise inside Wandering Oaken’s Trading Post, and one to visit Oaken’s Frozen Funland where guests can ice skate, play in the snow, grab a sweet treat and take photos in front of snowy backdrops. Or, visit both areas, one right after the other.

4. Dance & Dazzle the Night Away:

Guests can rock out to a medley of “Frozen” hits each evening starting at 5:30 p.m. with a dance party, DJ and live band at the Sorcerer’s Hat Icon Stage. Then, guests can find a prime spot along Hollywood Blvd. to wrap up the evening with Anna, Elsa, Kristoff and Olaf during a grand finale fireworks display high above the Sorcerer’s Hat, set to the music of the acclaimed hit movie.

5. Frame Up Warm Memories:

Using new augmented reality technology, guests can take part in “virtual” character experiences, get access to added information in the guide maps and more. Before arriving at the park, guests can download the free mobile app, Aurasma, from the App Store or Android Market to their smartphone or tablet and snap photos at special “Frozen” backdrops throughout the park.

The cutest and most famous elephant of all time, Dumbo, might soon by flying on to a theater screen near you. However this time he will not be animated.

Disney is remaking their classic cartoon, “Dumbo,” into a live-action movie, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Technology has come a very long way over the past few years. So now thanks to CGI a live action Dumbo might be a reality. I am sure you know the story of Dumbo, but this time around you will get to the know the story of this adorable little elephant a little more in depth.

So, this seems to be a new trend for Disney. Which one do you think they should do next?

What move do you think will be next?

Laura Marano to Star in New Disney Channel Original Movie!

LAURA MARANO

Popular actresses Laura Marano (“Austin & Ally”) and Leigh-Allyn Baker (“Good Luck Charlie”) team up to star in the comedic buddy adventure “Bad Hair Day,” a Disney Channel Original Movie scheduled to premiere in 2015. Leigh-Allyn Baker makes her foray into producing as executive producer of the movie.

Marano stars as a high school tech whiz who’s bound and determined to be crowned prom queen. But on the big day, everything that can go wrong does go wrong, starting with her sudden and epically uncontrollable hair and her once lovely yet now destroyed prom dress. She soon comes to rely on a down-on-her-luck cop (Baker) who’s in pursuit of a missing necklace that the teen unwittingly has in her possession. Prom day goes from bad to mad as the pair is pursued by a dogged jewel thief on a wild ride across the city. Christian Campbell (“Neighbor”) has been cast as the jewel thief.

Laura Marano stars in the hit comedy “Austin & Ally,” the #1 series on TV among Tweens and the #2 series among Kids 2-11 and Kids 6-11 for 2013. 2014 to-date, it is TV’s #1 series in its primary timeslot among Kids 2-11, Kids 6-11 and Tweens 9-14. Marano was UNICEF Ambassador for the 63rd annual Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF campaign.

For 100 episodes and a record-setting Disney Channel Original Movie, Leigh-Allyn Baker played mom Amy Duncan on the hit sitcom “Good Luck Charlie.” Encore episodes continue to rotate on Disney Channels around the world. Baker also voices Queen Delightful in the new animated comedy series “The 7D” and is known for her recurring roles on “Charmed” and “Will & Grace.”

To be filmed in Montreal, Canada, “Bad Hair Day” will be directed by Erik Canuel (“Bon Cop, Bad Cop”) and produced by Muse Entertainment. The writers are Eric M. Gardner, Steven H. Wilson, and Billy & Matt Eddy (“Zapped,” “Teen Beach 2”). Along with Baker, Joel Rice, Denise Carlson, Dawn Wolfrom and Michael Prupas also serve as executive producers.

Stay tuned for more on Bad Hair Day!

When you “Make-A-Wish” Upon a Star!

wish

Having a child with needs that are different than what one would expect or anticipate is challenging both in execution and acceptance. Our road with our almost six year old daughter has been nothing other than the opposite of what we had thought it would be during the time we were pregnant. When Addison was just six months old, an infectious disease doctor at the Cleveland Clinic told us to prepare ourselves to not celebrate her first birthday. Obviously they didn’t know that she would far exceed their predicted life expectancy.

In June of 2013, Addison was granted a Wish through Make-A-Wish Central New York. Her wish was to be a carefree princess at Disney World where she would have the chance to be a free spirited kid and not a medically fragile kid. In October of 2013, our family traveled to Orlando to fulfill her Wish. The partnerships between Make-A-Wish and Disney as well as other entities in the Orlando area are precisely what made Addison’s Wish come true. Disney provided our family with a 3-Day Park Hopper Ticket to the Disney Parks. Additionally, Disney provided our family with a “Magic Genie Pass”. The Genie from Aladdin is the “mascot” of all Disney related wishes. Our Magic Genie Pass provided our family with the optimal Disney experience by allowing us to easily access character meet-n-greets and rides. Given that our daughter has a tracheostomy, is oxygen dependent, is solely fed via g-tube, is legally blind, wheelchair bound and non-verbal this pass made it possible for our family to see and experience as much of the parks as possible in the 3 days we were there.

Disney treated Addison like a royal princess and made our entire family forget about doctors appointments, twice a week platelet and red blood transfusions, and those things that make our lives vastly different than “normal”. On our second day in Orlando we loaded up rental van and traveled to Magic Kingdom. We had no idea what to expect with regard to what it would take to load up our two children as well as our portable oxygen concentrator, oxygen tanks and all the other medical supplies needed to be in the park for over 12 hours. It literally took us 25 minutes just to start the trek to the Ticket and Transportation Center. We started feeling defeated and the idea of entering the park seemed daunting. We asked a security officer in the parking lot for directions on where to go to get to Magic Kingdom. She very politely steered us in the right direction and then proceeded to tell us that she was amazed by our family’s dedication to giving our children the opportunity to visit Disney after watching us spend so much time loading up for our day in the park. This compliment was just the fuel we needed to forge on, thank you to that officer.

Once inside Magic Kingdom, the magic of Disney sparkled before our eyes. Our children were carefree in a way that they had never been before, it is indescribable. Our most magical moment came that evening when we went to Ariel’s grotto. Addison and Anya both LOVE Ariel and at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, Addison was transformed into human Ariel and Anya was transformed into mermaid Ariel. We waited just a minute to step foot into Ariel’s grotto and there was one family in front of us finishing their visit with the coveted Ariel. Our girls waited patiently as the anticipation for meeting Ariel mounted, she was right there before our very eyes! As the family ahead began to exit the grotto Ariel bounced down from her shell, asked her assistant to come close to her and she whispered something in her ear. At the time I had no idea what she said. Ariel’s visit was complete with “jellyfish fist-pumping”, “Eskimo kisses”, pure innocent laughter, mermaid posed pictures and a 25 minute uninterrupted blissful meeting with Ariel. As we exited her grotto I wiped away my tears of joy as I profusely thanked Ariel for the length of time she spent with our family and for the memories she helped us create. She responded that it was completely her pleasure and that before we came up to meet her she had told her assistant Allison to not let any other families enter her grotto until our meeting was complete no matter how long we stayed. Nearly 8 months later my girls still give one another jellyfish fist-pumps and we speak of our love for Ariel on a nearly daily basis.

The cast members at Disney World are incredible and the smiles, hugs, love and magic that was given to us throughout our visit truly made Addison’s Wish come true.

One of the silver linings in our journey with Addison has been making friendships with families, doctors, caretakers, organizations and companies, like Disney and Make-A-Wish, who face the same concerns, hopes, and dreams for our children. We are extremely blessed to have developed a life-long relationship with Disney and Make-A-Wish. The assistance and support provided by both of these entities was part of the bridge to making the Addison’s Wish come true. The support that Disney and Make-A-Wish provides for the Upstate New York community makes the lives of our special children exceptional.

Right now, through August 10, 2014, our Make-A-Wish Central New York chapter is accepting donations through the “Walk on the Wild Side” event. To learn more about this event and giving opportunity, please visit our fundraising page for more details.

Top 5 Dining Dining Snacks at Epcot

Epcot Snacks KaramelCase
Epcot Snacks KaramelCase

Epcot Snacks KaramelCase

Epcot houses a vibrant cultural and culinary melting pot.  Since Epcot offers so much to see and do, it is no surprise that you can work up an appetite at the Experimental Prototype Community Of Tomorrow.  There are so many scrumptious food choices that it can be hard deciding what to try.

The following Top 5 Disney Dining Snacks at Epcot are ones that my family enjoys while trekking around Future World and the World Showcase.

  1. Chocolate Covered Salted Caramel (or caramel anything really) at Karamell-Kuche is always yummy.  There are so many different caramel dishes to try here.  Your nose will lead you right to this sweet little spot in Germany.  Not only is the chocolate covered salted caramel a family favorite, but the fresh caramel corn is as well.  The caramel covered apples are a big hit too and can be cut for ease of sharing.  If you have a sweet tooth, this location should be a stop on your list!
  2. In Mexico, the Nachos at La Cantina de San Angel are larger enough for sharing.  They come endowed with beans, ground beef, jalapenos, nacho cheese, tomatoes, and sour cream.  For an extra charge, you can also ask them to add some guacamole.  Warm nachos hit the spot for noshing while waiting for Illuminations to start.   If you are looking for a sweeter selection, try their churritos with caramel sauce.  The cinnamon sugar doughy goodness dunked in caramel is tasty!
  3. Croissant Doughnut can be found at the Refreshment Port in the Showcase Plaza.  The croissant doughnut looks exactly like it sounds – a cross between a doughnut and a croissant.  They are flaky and fluffy and coated in cinnamon sugar with a traditional doughnut shape.  You can also purchase one a la mode with vanilla ice cream.  These beauties are so good that you may not want to share this one.
  4. The Pressed Brioche Ice Cream Sandwich found at L’Artisan Des Glaces in France is the perfect spin on a traditional ice cream sandwich.  You pick your ice cream flavor and then choose either chocolate or raspberry sauce.  Once the selections are made, the CM will press it all together for an all new treat – cool and creamy on the inside and warm and crispy on the outside.  Perfecto!
  5. Sunshine Seasons in The Land pavilion at Future World hosts a huge variety of menu options.  For a quick snack on the sweet side, the Strawberry Shortcake is to die for or if you are looking for a healthier option, the Roasted Beet and Goat Cheese salad is scrumptious!  The Strawberry Shortcake boast layers of vanilla shortcake, fresh strawberries and whipped cream.  Depending on how hungry you are, you can keep it all to yourself or it is big enough that you could share.  Be aware though the Strawberry Shortcake goes quickly sometimes, but  Sunshine Seasons is worthy of a stop either way.

Epcot holds many more culinary treasures which makes it easier to satisfy everyone in your family, even the pickiest of eaters.   There are so many tasty snack options around Epcot that I can’t wait to hear what your family’s top Epcot snack option is.  Comment below which Epcot snack or snacks hit the top of your family’s list!
