Planes: Fire & Rescue Media Movie Screenings have been happening all week long in Hollywood area theatres.  On my third screening of the movie in so many weeks, I was able to focus on and enjoy the incredible details Disney Toon Studios have incorporated into the movie.  Like Frozen with Ice, Planes: Fire & Rescue takes the power of fire and uses it to not only enhance the movie’s story line but to pay tribute to the many firefighters on the ground and in the air that work hard to ensure our safety. The many scenes full of fire and smoke in the air and on the ground are so realistic and powerful, you will be on the edge of your seat cheering for Dusty and the Gang.   The scene where Harvie and Winnie voiced by Jerry Stiller & Anne Meara as husband and wife RVs trapped on a bridge was a nail biting, eyes glued to the screen, armrests gripped with anxiety filled moments.  But even in the midst of fire fighting and jumping from planes, Disney manages to add humor and fun.   Kids of all ages, will love the new characters and Dusty’s newest adventure as a  fire fighting SEAT (Single Engine Air Tanker.

Planes: Fire & Rescue has Dusty voiced by Dane Cook, now a world famous racer.  Dusty is not made for speed or racing and ends up with engine trouble grounding him from racing possibly forever.  Fellow PropWash Junction friends,  Skipper Riley (Stacey Keach), Sparky the forklift (Danny Mann) along with fellow forklift, Dottie (Teri Hatcher) try to help Dusty fix his engine but parts are hard to come by which leads Dusty into considering a new career path.   Old fire engine, Mayday (Hal Holbrook) is old and needs a fellow firefighter to help keep Propwash Junction open and in compliance.  Dusty decides to help MayDay and sets out to Piston Peak National Park to train with Blade Ranger (Ed Harris) the Fire and Rescue Helicopter and his crew.  Through a series of training exercises and actual firefighting, Dusty finally earns his firefighting title and returns to PropWash Junction as their newest firefighter.

Planes:  Fire & Rescue brings new characters to love and enjoy.   Blade’s team includes Super Scooper -Lil’ Dipper (Julie Bowen), Windlifter (Wes Studi) who is a heavy-lift helicopter, Cabbie (Dale Dye) who is an ex-military transport plane who are the air attack team.  The smokejumpers – which are the all-terrain vehicles include Dynamite (Regina King), Pinecone (Corri English), Avalanche (Bryan Callen), Blackout (Danny Pardo) and Drip (Matt Jones) and provide lots of comic relief even in the middle of fighting fires and jumping out of planes.     Also included in the movie are real life married couple (Jerry Stiller & Anne Meara) Harvie and Winnie as husband and wife RVs, Ol’ Jammer the tour bus (Barry Corbin), Helicopter Police Officer – Nick Loop n Lopez (Erik Estrada), Biplane “Leadbottom” (Cedric the Entertainer), and the beautiful luxury SUV “Cad Spinner (John Michael Higgins) along with Pulaski (Patrick Warburton) who is a structural firefighting truck and Ryker (Kevin Michael Richardson) a transportation management safety truck,  Secretary of the Interior Jeep (Fred Willard) and a special appearance by Brad Paisley as Bubba the pick up truck round out the cast.

Don’t miss Disney’s Planes:  Fire & Rescue in theatres July 18th.

With Disneyland’s 45th anniversary of their attraction “The Haunted Mansion” approaching, Disney has decided to celebrate with a TV special.

The Haunted Mansion special will be animated by legendary children’s horror author and illustrator Gris Grimly. The news was announced July 17th by Eric Coleman the Senior Vice President, Original Series, Disney Television Animation.

Are THE MUPPETS headed to Broadway?

Hi Ladies and Gents! Anonymouse is back with some Disney on Broadway gossip for you. The Muppets Take Manhattan may be coming to Broadway. What an exciting new venue for Kermit and Miss Piggy!

The New York Post‘s Michael Riedel reports that the Walt Disney Company, which has had the rights to the Muppets since 2004, is “exploring the possibility” of a Muppet musical coming to one of Jujamcyn’s five theaters. With the success of other kid friendly Broadway shows, this might be the perfect move for Disney.

Frank Oz directed The Muppets Take Manhattan, which was the third in a series of live-action musical feature films starring Jim Henson’s Muppets. It was filmed on location in New York City during the summer of 1983. Produced by Henson Associates and TriStar Pictures, the movie featured music by Ralph Burns and Jeff Moss. Cameo appearances by Sesame Street’s Cookie Monster, Ernie and Bert were also featured in the film.

Would you like to see a live action Broadway show featuring The Muppets? Please leave comment in my comment section below.

An Adult’s Take on MVMCP

I have read many reviews over the last couple of years regarding Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. Some reviews positive, some not so much. I just wanted to give you my “take” on the event as an adult that went with 2 other adults to the party.

We are not ones for characters or really parades, we enjoy the rides. This was the prime opportunity to engage in the attractions with little or no line ups. Main Street was extremely busy, so we tried to avoid that as much as possible (of course we did have to see the castle festivities and fireworks, which cannot be missed- nice little spot near the Tomorrowland Terrace, Tinkerbell flies over your head).

Every ride was open and not busy. We walked straight on to every ride (Haunted Mansion, Pirates, Winnie the Pooh, Space Mountain, Thunder Mountain, Splash Mountain). I don’t think I can recall a time where you could walk straight on to Space Mountain, get off and go right back on.

The price of the party was about $70 which gave you admission to the park from 4pm to midnight. We were given a wrist band at the entrance way. At 7pm security would walk around and check to see if you had a band on, if not you were asked to leave. To make sure when going on the rides we had to show our wrist band. Disney limits the amount of party tickets sold so it is good to get them early.

Don’t forget the free cookies, hot chocolate or apple juice. The cookies were delicious!! There are stations set up through the park designated by large blow up candy canes. When you see this your mouth begins to water. The lights are spectacular and it’s the most magical time watching “snow” fall on main street……being from Canada I wish our snow was like Disney snow!!
Well I hope you enjoy my perspective on the MVMCP and have a magical day.

Planes: Fire & Rescue Press Movie Screening

planesfireandrescue53bd970314491

Planes:  Fire & Rescue Press Movie Preview was held in Century City and I had the opportunity to see the movie for a second time.  I took my 8 and 5 year old granddaughters along to get a Disney kid’s perspective of the movie.   The second viewing still had me gripping the edge of the armrests during some of the action packed fire scenes.   I was able to sit back and appreciate some of the amazing scenes in detail, this time around and was again so impressed with how well Disney is able to take a story line and turn it into a magical adventure.   The facial expressions and the emotions portrayed on the planes, cars and other vehicles is something that you need to see several times to appreciate fully.  Sitting in the dark, watching Planes: Fire & Rescue and thinking of second chances, caused several emotional moments.  Once again Disney has taken a theme that not only tugs at your heart strings but pays a huge tribute to our firefighting men and women (or in this case – planes and trucks) and turned it into their next big hit.

The grand daughters enjoyed the movie very much “even if it is not about princesses, it’s still very good”   The unanimous favorite part of the movie was “the way they made the fire seem so real and made us worry about all the characters and especially showed us how hard the firemen work”.   Asked if they thought, it would be a move their friends and family would like, their response was “definitely, especially the boys and my dad because he works with firefighters (dad is EMT), but I think the girls will like it, because girls can be firefighters too”.

Planes: Fire & Rescue is the story of Dusty Crophopper’s second chance career.  After developing engine problems as a world famous racer, Dusty is grounded and told he may never race again.   After a series of events including problems with getting a new gear box, Dusty decides to join Blade Runner and his crew as a firefighting SEAT (single engine air tanker).   As part of Blade’s crew, Dusty learns all about second chances and what it takes to be a real hero.

Don’t miss Planes: Fire & Rescue in theatres, July 18, 2014.

Disney Quick Tips – Add Your Celebration To Your Advanced Dining Reservation

Celebration Button

Walt Disney World is a great place for a celebration! To help you celebrate, they offer free celebration buttons for just about any occasion. But that’s not the only way Disney can help with your celebration. When making your Advanced Dining Reservation, be sure to ask the cast members to make a note of your celebration. Also, remind them of your celebration when you arrive for your ADR. You never know what kind of Disney magic they may bring to your celebration.

While it’s not guaranteed you will receive anything extra for your celebration at a Disney table service restaurant, you will probably at least hear a few “Congratulations,” “Happy Birthday,” or other celebratory greetings appropriate for your celebration. However, there is a chance you might just get something extra. Sometimes cast members will bring out special desserts for birthdays or anniversaries. In fact, this used to be the only way guests could “try the Grey Stuff” at Be Our Guest. (Thankfully, it has a spot on the menu now.) While I’ve rarely heard of it happening, sometimes the cast members will even bring a gift for your celebrations. My parents received a beautiful Disney Christmas ornament for their anniversary dinner last year.

Have you received anything special from your Disney ADR celebrations? Let us know in the comments below!

“The Jungle Book” Casts a New Actor for the Character of “Mowgli”

Jungle Book Neel Se13BFCED 2
Jungle Book Neel Se13BFCED 2

Jungle Book Neel Sethi

Disney conducted a very extensive  worldwide search for the part of Mowgli in ‘The Jungle Book“. The Walt Disney Studios has finally announced the part has been given to 10-year-old Neel Sethi from New York. This is his first acting job!

“Casting is the most important element of any film and finding the right kid to play Mowgli was imperative,” said director Jon Favreau. “Neel has tremendous talent and charisma. There is a lot riding on his little shoulders and I’m confident he can handle it.”

“Neel embodies the heart, humor, and daring of the character,” adds casting director Sarah Finn. “He’s warm and accessible, yet also has an intelligence well beyond his years and impressed us all with his ability to hold his own in any situation. Even though he has no professional acting experience, his natural charisma and instincts jumped out at us.”

As Mowgli, Neel will be the only actor onscreen in the film. The Jungle Book is a combination of live-action and animation and will be released in 3D on October 9, 2015.
