A Disney Wedding Cake Fit for a Fairytale Day

Fairytale Wedding Cake

Fairytale Wedding Cake

A wedding is a once-in-a-lifetime event that will be remembered by the happy couple forever.  For Disney fans, touches of the Mouse have been working their way into those special days in many ways throughout the years, most recently with the creation of a Frozen-inspired wedding dress.  This weekend at the Disney Fairytale Wedding Expo, a new kind of cake was debuted; one that is sure to excite Disney fans.

First shared by Facebook user Michelle George Vazul, this new cake may initially appear to be your standard, white, tiered, wedding cake but within seconds it is transformed into something straight out of a Disney Fairytale.  And the best part, it’s totally customizable.  A flying Tinkerbell, Cinderella’s carriage and favorite Disney quotes are only some of the options available with this new projection mapping technology.

Check it out here:

Cake mapping will cost you a cool $2,900, not including the actual cost of the cake and is currently only available for Wishes Collection weddings taking place at Walt Disney World, which start at $12,000 USD.

While the price is pretty high, I still think having a Disney-inspired wedding cake would be awesome.  What would you want projected onto your cake?  Let us know in the comments below!

“Snack Around The World” With These Top Epcot World Showcase Disney Dining Snacks

Caramel

Ok – so you’ve all at least heard of the Drink Around The World challenge right? Where you stop at each country of Epcot’s World Showcase and sample a drink (or two!) from that country? Well, it’s a really fun time and a great way to get to try a ton of unique drinks – however, it’s not for everyone (pregnant women, anyone under 21, etc…), so in lieu of drinking, how about we try snacking around the world instead? It’s easy – just head around World Showcase and stop off at each country for these top snacks:

America – Nothing says “America!” like deep fried cake – am I right? The funnel cake stand is the place to be if you’re looking for a treat – you can get it classic with just powdered sugar, or get it a la mode with vanilla ice cream, or have it topped with chocolate sauce, apples, and look for seasonal pumpkin too! It comes out hot and slightly greasy – which is exactly how a funnel cake should be I think! The cakes are big enough to share – but no one will judge you if you don’t

Canada – There isn’t much to speak of here in the way of snack carts or stands, but if you head to the Canada pavillion’s gift shop, you will find some unique treats for sale – the most noteworthy of them being potato chips with flavors you don’t see here in the US – like ketchup and sweet potato, and dill pickle too – what a fun twist on a classic treat!

China – The “Joy Of Tea” eatery is more than meets the eye – sure they offer hot and iced teas, and even a refreshing iced tea slushie – but they also offer some seriously awesome Chinese BBQ Pork Buns. It’s mildly BBQ and onion flavored tender pork inside a bread pocket – a thick, flaky, tender cloud of carbs – yum. If you aren’t into the Pork bun, they also serve egg rolls, a chicken curry pocket, and ice cream

France – It’s all about the desserts here in France – and they have plenty of them over at the bakery! A true french classic is the Napoleon – layers of puff pastry and creamy custard – this is a hit for sure, and is heaven paired with a fresh latte. The bakery case offers fresh baguettes (which pair perfectly with their cheese platter), croissants, macaroons, eclairs and much more

Germany – While strolling through Germany you MUST make a stop at Karamel Kuche – where the waft of fresh caramel hits you before you even step inside! Freshly made caramel corn is definitely the must try, but aside from that there’s a whole CASE full of sugary goodies! Caramel apples, cookies, candies, and my personal favorite – the dark chocolate salted caramel. Devine.

Italy – When in Rome, do as the Romans do – and eat Gelato! Fresh flavors made daily like can be enjoyed alone, or between two cookies, or in a sundae, or in a cone! Cannolis and Tiramisu are available here too, as well as smoothies, coffee drinks, wine and beer. If you have never had true Italian style gelato, then you’re in for a real treat – it’s creamy and rich and bursting with flavor

Japan – One word for you – Kakigori! It’s shaved ice topped with your choice of fruit flavors: strawberry, melon, tangerine, cherry, or rainbow (choice of three flavors). What a perfect treat for a hot day at Disney! You’ll find this at the Kabuki Café along with sushi, wine and beer options, and even traditional Japanese sake

MexicoLa Cantina De San Angel offers up tasty tacos and empanadas all day, as well as margaritas and ice cold Coronas. But if you’re in a snacking mood, you’ll want to try the Churritos – mini Churros served up hot with caramel dipping sauce – yum. Or you could have the corn chips and guacamole if you’re looking for more of a salty treat

Morocco – We all love Ice Cream, right? Well then how about some new chef-created flavors? Available at Morocco’s Juice Bar, the flavors are pretty cool – Chocolate and Cinnamon, Green Tea, Pistachio with Orange Blossom Water, Strawberry and Red Bean, and Toasted Almond with Rosewater. You can get it served in a cone or a cup, and you can even mix two flavors in one cup! There’s wine and beer and specialty drinks here too (after all, it IS a juice bar!)

Norway – Stop by the bakery here for a coffee and a treat – the school bread is the winner here for sure! It’s a sweet roll injected with a creamy vanilla custard, and covered with a sweet icing and toasted coconut. It reminds me a bit of a donut, and it’s been a famous Epcot favorite for years

United Kingdom – This is another “country” that doesn’t have its own dedicated snack stand, but in its souvenir shop you can pick from an assortment of candy and treats that are only available across the pond – like miniature mince-meat, apple, and berry pies, assorted Cadbury chocolate bars, and other packaged candy

Ok I don’t know about you but I am definitely going to do this next time I am at WDW – but I don’t think I can do it alone – best to bring a snack buddy to “share the load” – of deliciousness that is!

The Beast Within Book Review!

The Beast Within Book Review!

When I found out there was going to be a second book in the series by Serena Valentino I was ecstatic! In fact when I heard Maleficent was getting a story and movie I was hoping the book would be written by this lovely author! Although it wasn’t I was glad we get to read more from her and her take on these classics!  I read the first book about the Evil Queen and fell in love with it. I was gladly reassured when I opened this book that it had the same charm as the first. The one thing I love about her novels about the legendary Disney Villains and Beast’s is that by the end of her novels not only does she have you thinking about this character and what they’ve been through but she makes you see them in a different light than before. Any book that can make the Evil Queen look misunderstood and unsure of herself is an amazing novel!

With this particular novel the focus was on a character not normally seen as a villain. Beast from Beauty and the Beast is the main protagonist in the novel if you can’t already tell by the beautiful cover (which reminds me remove the jacket on this novel for a lovely spell binding surprise!) In the novel we see not only his time with Belle and their relationship but the time leading up to his curse which is the main focus. We see a man who is mean and cruel without really understanding the implications of his actions. While he is admittedly self-absorbed and egotistical he has his moment of second guessing his actions although mainly in fear. We also see how being a prince in itself has hardened him and his interaction with people which was beautifully done. From the transformation of the prince into a beast to his first sighting of Belle which may not have gone as you think the story is amazing. I also loved seeing characters in the book young women mainly who wanted more for themselves then what they were offered in 15th century France. A lovely lesson for young girls!

I’m also a huge fan of people changing up a story to make it their own and make it new and fresh and with Serena Valentino you can always count on that. The one recurring similarity in her novels about Disney characters are the odd sisters which you may remind you of the weird sisters growing up if you read Macbeth. Having recently just read it for school seeing these types of characters was lovely because as far as fairy tales and fables you don’t see them used much and they are three fascinating characters that add so much to this novel.

The book itself is a fast read with smaller pages and a sleek design. It mentions some small things that may not be suitable for very small children as the author is a horror writer though don’t be put off by that fact as the novel is amazing and not gory or horrific just light little splashes of dark themes that kids under 10 or so may not like. (Or if they’re anything like me at 10 they might love it!)

Overall I give this book a solid A-

This series is a favorite of mine as is this authors style and I can’t wait for the next book in the series about the very cunning sea witch Ursula! If it’s half as good as the prior two it’s sure to be a hit!

Get The Beast Within by Serena Valentino in book stores now!

(Also I’ve seen this lovely novel at the Disney parks so keep an eye out!)

Stay tuned for more book reviews coming soon!

Interview with The Maze Runner’s Blake Cooper!

Glader Chuck
Glader Chuck

Glader_Chuck

Recently I had the joy of speaking with a young actor by the name of Blake Cooper. You can currently see Cooper in the movie Maze Runner which is in theatres right now (and it’s quite good too!) We talked about everything from the pressure of playing a character already written and established too what made him fall in love with the book that started it all.

This being Blake’s first major motion picture roll he was quite eager to talk about this lovely project and how much fun it was to be a part of something so big. Of all the things that could have been his favorite part of the experience from the big lights to the big movie stars he simply said his favorite things about most of his projects are the table reads. Simply because it’s the first time the script gets explored with everyone in the same room working together. While most people would pick the glamour of it he picked the heart which in itself shows this young man’s future potential.

When I asked him about why he wanted to play Chuck and what drew him to the character he said it was their similarities. The way they both liked the same things and he felt as if the character was perfect for him and so he pursued getting an audition adamantly. Thanks to a friend of his he got the chance of a lifetime as well as thanks to the fans of the book that supported him through his journey. He was determined and he did it and that is true dedication to something.

Now when Blake isn’t starring in major motion pictures he’s a regular kid who enjoys being a boy scout and his dogs (which were also happily yipping in the background for a moment while we spoke) I am convinced this won’t be the last we see of this young man as he is dedicated and determined and speaking to him I see exactly why he was chosen to play Chuck and I see exactly why this won’t be the last major motion picture we see him in. Watch out Hollywood!

Check out Blake’s latest project from Amazon Studios Cocked soon! (Just make sure not to let the little ones watch it!) And follow him on twitter @followblakecoop !

1000 straight days in Disneyland with no plans of stopping

Jeff Reitz1
Jeff Reitz1

Jeff Reitz

Jeff Reitz, of Huntington Beach, California, is on a roll.  Beginning on New Years Eve, 2011, Jeff has gone through the Disneyland turnstiles a record 1000 times, as of last Friday.  He has been in the parks everyday for almost three years!  He was gifted an Annual Pass when he was unemployed and began going to the parks to take his mind off of his financial predicament and clear his head during his job search.   On his 366th visit, he received a stay in the Dream Suite above Pirates of the Carribean attraction.  He has no plans of stopping and goes for a few hours each day outside of his job as a medical-support specialist with the VA Long Beach Healthcare System.

Would you go to the parks everyday if you could?  I honestly don’t think I could do it everyday, but if I lived closer, you can bet I’d be there as often as possible!  Comment below and let me know your thoughts.

Project 3 – Permits Filed for Hollywood Studios

hollywood studios
hollywood studios

Rampant running rumors just had some fanning of the flames recently. Disney has filed the paper work for permits on Soundstage 1 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Currently dubbed ‘Project 3’ the title sounds as if it were straight out of a sci-fi film.

dhs

Sound stage 1 is right next door to Toy Story Mania and is currently home to Wandering Oaken’s Trading Post.  The full title is ‘Project 3 – DHS Soundstage 1 Renovation’ and the pending closing of the Studios Backlot Tour this weekend has caused speculation on a possible Pixar Place expansion to start up again. The permit offers no details of any significance other that it may be a long project as the expiration date is set for September 30th of 2016. Rumors have ranged from just the addition of a third track at Toy Story Mania to a full host of new rides and attractions for that area.

It has been said that Tom Staggs along with a large entourage of Disney big names and Imagineers were seen wandering the area and it would seem something big is in the works. There is still no official word from Disney on the permits or the possible expansion.
