Are The Muppets Making A Comeback?

The Muppets

Jim Henson’s Muppets may be making a comeback with the announcement that Bill Prady (co-creator of the Big Bang Theory) and Bob Kushell are writing a script and ABC is filming a presentation for a pilot that could result in a Muppets series if approved.   The presentation is being filmed next week on the Burbank Disney lot with some of the original performers.

The basic concept includes the cast –  Kermit the Frog, Fozzie Bear, Gonzo and Animal, and others all meeting at the ABC Studios  to talk about a new Muppet Show.  But Miss Piggy and Kermit’s on again, off again relationship could stop the show from happening if she doesn’t sign on.   Plans also include adding cameos and new characters, including Miss Piggy’s current co-star and Fozzie’s girlfriend and her parents.

Bill Prady’s involvement will make for a great Muppet revival as he started his career working for Jim Henson and received an Emmy nomination for the tribute show – The Muppets celebrate Jim Henson.

The Muppets originally created in 1955 by Jim Henson have been around in TV and movies for 60 years, with their latest adventures on the big screen in Muppets: Most Wanted in 2014.

The return of the Muppets as a comedy, variety show would be a nostalgic trip down memory lane for many of us and an all new adventure with familiar characters for our children and grandchildren to enjoy.

Best Times of Year to Visit Walt Disney World

Best Time
Best Time

best

People from all around the globe like to visit Walt Disney World – families, tour groups, couples, friends, and even individuals. The FastPass+ system has helped cut down wait times at many rides, but if you’re just hoping to enjoy the Most Magical Place on Earth without wading through huge crowds, when’s the best time to go? A lot depends on what you like best about your visit, and/or which events you’re willing to brave a crowd for. Almost any month of the year has some advantages and disadvantages to visiting.

January – The weather will be cool and mild, and the crowds are typically low. Early in the month, Christmas decorations will still be up, so you can enjoy the magic without the hustle and bustle. Prices are typically lower, and FastPasses and dining reservations are easier to get. You WILL still need to make those advanced dining reservations to ensure you get the dining venues and experiences you want. And, usually the second weekend of the month will bring an influx of runners and their families and friends for the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend. Downsides – some rides may be closed for refurbishment, park hours may be reduced, and it may feel too cool for swimming, even in WDW resort heated pools, visits during the Marathon weekend can make securing room reservations difficult.

February – Weather in central Florida will still be cool and mild and may require a heavier jacket at night. Crowds are lowest at the beginning of the month, and couples love to visit around Valentine’s Day. Just after the holiday come the Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend, and President’s Day Weekend which draw crowds. Downsides – expect park hours to continue to be reduced in some parks, swimming to still be less comfortable, and large crowds/long waits during President’s Day weekend, visits during the Half-Marathon may make coveted room selections at resorts harder to obtain, and Disney transportation on the weekend may suffer delays.

March – Spring means cool mornings and evenings, but warm, comfortable days. Crowds begin to pick up (think moderate crowds) with the opening of the International Flower and Garden Festival at Epcot, and can be large crowds if Easter comes early in the year, bringing Spring Break crowds. Due to the Flower and Garden Festival, you’ll want to be sure to make advanced dining reservations for any table service meals at Epcot. And FastPasses will help reduce wait times, even when crowds are larger. Downsides – Spring Break crowds can be among the largest. If Easter and Spring Break join St. Patrick’s day celebrations, March can be a very busy, crowded time.

April – Temperatures start to climb, and sunscreen is a must, though a poncho should also be close at hand, as pop-up showers are common. The International Flower and Garden Festival continues, and Spring Break and Easter usually fall in April, meaning larger crowds. Be sure to use FastPasses, advanced dining reservations, and extra magic hours to your advantage during April. Downsides -Lines will be long for the most popular attractions. Make an effort to visit those early in the day so your wait time will be shorter.

May – It almost feels like summer in May at Walt Disney World! Wear warm-weather clothing, drink plenty of water, and be sure to wear sunscreen! 2015 will have what we’re told is the last Expedition Everest Challenge run, so there will be a moderate crowd of runners for this 5K plus Scavenger Hunt. But May also means Star Wars Weekends at Hollywood Studios, which come on the heels of the closing of the International Flower and Garden Festival at Epcot mid-month. Moderate crowds and shorter lines will be in evidence near the end of the month as the nation’s public schools finish up. Single rider lines can help to reduce wait times on some rides. Downsides – rainstorms in the afternoons mean that ponchos will be needed. If you’re not afraid to get a little wet, most attractions carry on as usual, and lines reduce. Or, you can make plans to return to the resort each afternoon for a little down time. Once the storm passes, you can hop in the pool!

June – School is out, and it’s hot! Crowds are large, and during peak season, reservations for resorts are at a premium both in terms of availability and pricing. Visits to the Walt Disney World water parks – Typhoon Lagoon, and Blizzard Beach may help make the visit comfortable. Make use of extra magic hours, and the all-important FastPasses, and secure advanced dining reservations early. Downsides -those afternoon showers will be in full-force, and wait times will definitely be long.

July – Hottest and most crowded time of the year. Many parks may reach capacity during July. If you’ve booked your stay earlier in the year, you or your travel agent should check promotions to be sure you’re getting the best value before you travel. Parks generally have extended hours at this time of year, but you’ll want to make use of the FastPass system as well as advanced dining reservations. This is the best time of year to enjoy the cool and the water rides. You might also head to the parks early in the morning, and return to your resort for an afternoon nap or dip in the pool, then return to parks when the hottest part of the day has passed. Downsides -even those who don’t usually burn can be caught off-guard by the Florida sun in July. Sunblock is a must! Stay hydrated, as well!  Counter-service locations in the parks will give you a free cup of ice water, just request it!

August – Still hot, hot, hot! Enjoy those indoor attractions, and the water parks. Crowd levels will continue to be high until schools start at mid-month. Enjoy the long park hours as parks will likely open early and stay open late. FastPasses are still a must, and finding cool places or activities at mid-day is recommended. Downsides – August is hurricane season, so this may affect your travel plans. Be sure to invest in travel insurance to help avoid any real problems with this. Afternoon showers are now hot and wet, and sometimes torrential. Be prepared with ponchos, umbrellas, or alternative plans.

September – Hot, but growing more comfortable. Crowds begin to thin as most children are back in school. Weekends are still very popular times to visit, so expect larger crowds then. Several events begin or take place during September, including the beginning of Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, and Night of Joy, a Christian music festival. Check those promotions for your stay as room discounts, and dining discounts, or even free dining are often offered during the fall. Downsides – while it may feel like fall in some sections of the country, the sun can still be brutal in central Florida. Sunscreen is important. If Free Dining is offered during your stay, you’ll want to be sure you have advanced dining reservations, or table service meals will be almost impossible to come by. Some rides may be closed as this is an off-season. Be sure to check on your favorites before you arrive.

October – Mild to moderate temperatures and moderate crowds make October a wonderful time to visit Walt Disney World. Exciting events like the continuation of Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, and the beginning of Epcot’s International Food and Wine Festival mean that there’s a lot to see and do. Visit water rides during the warmest part of the day, and bear in mind that Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party requires its own ticket for participation. With the Free Dining promotion, you’ll want to be sure you secure your advanced dining reservations. Decorations at Magic Kingdom, and food and wine offerings and demonstrations at Epcot make this a wonderful time to visit. Downsides – some rides or attractions may be closed for refurbishment. Occasionally, participants at the International Food and Wine Festival at Epcot get a little less than family-friendly, so make plans to visit World Showcase at Epcot during the day if you have young children.

November – Temperatures begin to drop. Though it may still be warm during the day, nights can be cool, so be sure you have jackets. Sunscreen will still be needed during the day. Lots of events: Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party continues for a short time, the International Food and Wine Festival continues, along with the Eat to the Beat concert series, Epcot’s Wine and Dine Half Marathon takes place near the beginning of the month, and then everything turns toward Christmas with Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party at Magic Kingdom, Holidays Around the World and the Candlelight Processional at Epcot, The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights at Hollywood Studios, and Mickey’s Jingle Jungle 5K at Animal Kingdom. Decorations are up and stunning! Crowds increase around Thanksgiving. Downsides – Separate tickets or reservations are usually needed for events. Crowds for the Wine and Dine Half Marathon can be large.

December – Cooler temperatures, and holiday decorations make this a wonderful time to visit Disney. Crowds can be large, however. Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party at Magic Kingdom, Holidays Around the World and the Candlelight Processional at Epcot, The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights at Hollywood Studios continue. Crowds are at their peak, and parks may reach capacity on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Downsides -Make dining reservations well in advance. The closer your travel dates are to Christmas week, the more difficult it will be to secure reservations. The Disney Transportation System will be operating at peak capacity. Be sure to allow extra time to reach your destination. Resort pools are heated, but it may still be too cold to swim comfortably in December.

So there are my tips for visiting Walt Disney World throughout the year! I hope they help to make your next visit as magical as it can be!

Pirates of the Caribbean Dead Men Tell No Tales: Further Delayed By Injury

johnny-depp-pirates-of-the-caribbean

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales filming on the Australian Gold Coast has been delayed longer than original date of the beginning of April.  The film was originally shut down for a few weeks when Johnny Depp injured his hand and flew back to the U.S. for hand surgery in mid March.   Although production had continued with scenes that did not include Depp’s character, the expected 2 week delay is now up to a minimum of 4 weeks and counting  Johnny Depp’s original surgery was not expected to affect the film, but with the additional need for a pin insertion to Depp’s finger, his recuperation time has increased.

The production team are all expected to return to the set when filming begins again but with over 200 members, this is a large project to just place on hold.  The halt has resulted in the need for many of the crew to use accrued leave of absence to cover the lack of salary.  The cast members are already on their second shutdown of POTC.  The first occurring at the beginning of filming in February due to Tropical cyclone “Nathan” which affected the second unity photography team.

POTC:  Dead Men Tell No Tales, is the fifth installment of the POTC movies and stars Johnny Depp along side Geoffrey Rush reprising his role of Barbosa, and also includes Stephen Graham, Kevin R. McNally, Javier Barden, Golshifteh Farahani, Kaya Scodelario and Brenton Thwaites.  With a little over 3 months of shooting still needed for the film to meet its expected release date of July 7, 2017, this delay is going to push production behind schedule.

Top 10 Disney World Theme Park Foods you MUST EAT!

Must Eat1
Must Eat1

eat

I love the food at Disney World! Most of my trips revolve around the food at the parks and resorts. Some food/snack items I try to get almost every trip to the parks, I know I can’t be the only one like this. I have put together a small list of 10 Theme Park Food Items that I believe you must eat on almost every trip to Disney World. These are in no particular order.

10. Ice Cream Cookie Sandwich (see above) – You can find this tasty treat all over Walt Disney World. Two of my favorite places to get this would be Dino Bites in the Animal Kingdom & Main Street Ice Cream Parlor. Both places serve the cookies up nice and warm and goes perfectly with that hand scooped vanilla ice cream.

mickeypretzel

9. Mickey Pretzel – I am a huge fan of any food in the shape of Mickey Mouse and these pretzels are the beez neez! You can get these all over Walt Disney World as well.  I prefer the plain pretzels but many people also like the jalapeno or cream cheese flavors.  Be sure to get yours with the cheese dipping sauce, it takes that delicious pretzel to a whole other level!

Dole whip

8. Dole Whip or Dole Whip Float – Recently Aloha Isle moved to where Sunshine Season used to be so now I have a few more steps before I can taste this delicious and refreshing treat. A Dole Whip is the perfect way to cool off on a hot summer day! I opt for the float so I can get some sweet pineapple juice to drink when I am done. I hear you can also get it at the Polynesian Resort too 😉

Candy apples

7. Candy Apples – I might be a little weird with this next food. I have never eaten a Candy Apple while at Disney. I always buy a few of these to take home and eat when I am going through the Post Disney Depression that sets in when I am having to unpack from my trip. Usually Main Street Confectionery in the Magic Kingdom is the last place I visit on my way out. I use up any left over snack credits and pick up some Candy Apples for myself and my girls.

chocolate

6. Cupcakes – I love to stop by and have breakfast at Starring Rolls Cafe in Hollywood Studios atleast once per trip. I usually go with friends or family so we can pick up a few cupcakes and sample a little of each one. I would have to say the Peanut Butter or Carrot Cake is probably my favorite. Really you can’t go wrong with any flavor you pick. Many times you can visit other places like Gaston’s Tavern and they will have specialty cupcakes for various events running at the parks.

France Grand Marnier Slush

5. Grand Marnier Slush – Another thing I like to do while I am at Walt Disney World is Drink around the World Showcase in Epcot. I have yet to make it around each pavilion in one night but I like to either start or finish in the France Pavilion and have a Grand Marnier Slush. It is like having a Orange Push Pop but with a kick! I recommend paying for the extra shot for an even more fun night!

Mickey Premium Ice Cream Bar

4. Mickey Premium Bar – What better use of a snack credit is a Mickey Premium Bar. The chocolate coating over delicious vanilla ice cream is heavenly. You can get these yummy treats in every park at Walt Disney World. Just be careful as they are addicting!

pop

3. Popcorn – Another item I try to pick up each trip to Disney is a popcorn bucket. This is one of the items I collect from Disney each year. Not only am I in love with all the Popcorn Buckets I have collected over the years but also I love popcorn! There is just something about the popcorn at Disney World that tastes better than even movie theater popcorn. Maybe it brings back childhood memories, or maybe Tinker Bell puts a little magic pixie dust on it, but whatever it is I love it! This is another item you can pick up almost anywhere but what I like to do is wait for the Cast Members to make fresh popcorn before I buy mine.

churro

2. Churros – Just looking at that picture my mouth is watering. Churros are foot long “sticks” of fried dough, rolled in cinnamon and sugar. Sometimes I have one with my coffee when first arriving to the parks other times it makes a great after dinner treat for my sweet tooth. I have also heard you can get a Churro Ice Cream Sandwich at Disneyland in Downtown Disney! I am crossing my fingers that comes to Walt Disney World very soon! I like to get my in Frontierland in the Magic Kingdom but you can also get them in the other parks as well.

nutella fruit

1. Nutella Waffle Sandwich – Available at Sleep Hollow Refreshments in the Magic Kingdom to me this is one of the perfect ways to start the day. The sweetness of the nutella plays perfectly with the fruit and saltiness of the waffle. They also come in 2 other flavors but I have yet to try them. I know which flavor I like and my family and I make this a breakfast stop almost every trip.

So I hope you like my list of Top 10 Disney World Theme Park Foods you MUST EAT! I try to hit every item when I am at the Walt Disney World Resort. Let me know if I missed any of your favorites in the comment box below.

P.S. – If you love food be sure to check out my 100 Disney Foods to Eat before you die challenge!

Top 10 Simple Pleasures at Walt Disney World

Dole Whip Magic in a cup2
Dole Whip Magic in a cup2

Disney vacations can be action packed, non-stop, and all about running around. However, there are so many great moments where you can enjoy the simple pleasures of the park for little to no money and end up getting a whole lot more from your vacation because of it. Here are my ten favorite simple pleasures at Walt Disney World.

Dole Whips: I don’t even know if I should list this as a simple pleasure, because to me, Dole Whips are serious business. But in the grand scheme of Walt Disney World, the joy of a Dole Whip on a hot day is just so simple and indulgent. Instead of running to dining reservations, or trying to make my next FastPass, there is something so simple and perfect about relaxing and savoring a Dole Whip.

Fountain Show at Epcot: Located in Future World, Innovention Fountains put on a great show perfectly timed to music. It’s a relaxing way to take a mid-day break without feeling like you are missing out on something. You won’t find this in your Times Guide, and you never have to worry about fighting for a good seat. The display happens regularly throughout the day and is one of the many simple pleasures throughout the park. This fountain has been a part of Epcot from the very beginning and hopefully will continue to dazzle fans with its beauty and magic for a very long time to come.

Main Street Trolley Show: Maybe my favorite show on property (not including the fireworks), the Main Street Trolley show makes me want to sing and dance along every single time. The show changes slightly with the season, so there is always something new to look for. The costumes of the performers, along with the trolley car help to really transport you back to a more simple time, right in the middle of Main Street USA.

Hidden Mickeys: For some, finding hidden Mickeys is a passion and not to be taken lightly. For me, spotting the hidden Mickey on the Haunted Mansion or in the wallpaper of a resort lobby gives me a simple pleasure that helps to remind me why Disney is so great – they pay attention to all the details.

Downtown Disney: Rushing around the parks can be exhausting so I always like to take a mid-trip break and visit Downtown Disney. There is no rushing around here because the atmosphere is so relaxed. Grab a chocolate shake, wander through World of Disney, and enjoy the simple pleasure of slowing down and taking it all in.

Cotton Candy: In my expert opinion, Disney World has the best Cotton Candy on the planet. There is nothing better than grabbing a freshly spun bag of Cotton Candy right before watching a parade. At less than $5.00 a bag, this simple and delicious pleasure won’t break the bank.

Waving at Cast Members: Cast Members are trained to wave and smile at guests as they are about to take off on their attraction. I really love to wave back! This may be the simplest pleasure of them all, but if you watch, not many guests even notice the gesture the Cast Member is making. I like to acknowledge it and smile along with them.

The Smells: Scent is the strongest sense tied to memory. There have been times in my real life where the wind blows just right and all of a sudden I’m transported back to Pirates of the Caribbean, or I’m peeling an orange for lunch on a hectic work day and suddenly I’m flying over orange groves on Soarin’. Don’t forget to take a deep breath every now and then and let it all soak in.

People Watching: I do this everywhere, but it’s the most fun at Disney World. People are strange, interesting, wonderful, and sometimes hilarious. While your family rides the Tea Cups for the third time in a row, take a seat on a nearby bench and just marvel at all the other families making memories around you.

Restful Attractions: Attractions like Carousel of Progress, Ellen’s Energy Adventure, and Spaceship Earth are some of my favorites because they let me sit back, relax, and enjoy the show. Take the time to really let your body and your mind recharge and these attractions. The simple pleasure of enjoying the moment is one of the best there is at Disney

I went a few years ago, and got to sit in the driver’s seat of a sweet red Lamborghini from the 80’s. This is the one car growing up that I ALWAYS wanted, so when I got the chance to sit in it I jumped! For more information please feel free to contact me anytime.

Since its inception, the Celebration Exotic Car Festival has donated over $1 million to children’s charities including Make-a-Wish, Special Olympics and Arnold Palmer Children’s Hospital. Over the years, the festival has grown to become one of the largest exotic car events in the world, attracting more than 250 of world’s rarest exotic cars, race cars, and Hollywood movie cars, and more than 40,000 spectators.
