In addition, the talented artists at Marvel and creative minds at Walt Disney Imagineering teamed up to create what is now a wildly successful line of new comic books based on theme park favorites—Disney Kingdoms. Disney twenty-three looks at the three current titles—Figment, Big Thunder Mountain, and Seekers of the Weird—and gives readers a peek at what’s to come.

Eileen Hightower from Orange County appeared in federal court on Monday. She plead not guilty. She is being charged with being involved in Disney World Ticket fraud ring. According to Police reports she stole hundreds of thousands of dollars from unsuspecting people.

She was not the only one, The Secret Service said Hightower had at least 3 others helping her to use credit cards that did not belong to any of them to make $360,000 in purchases at over 12  Orlando area resorts. Mainly for huge amounts of Disney World theme park tickets.

It seems as though she knows this industry works because she has a history of reselling theme park tickets.

If you are not going to purchase tickets from Disney please use an Authorized Ticket re-seller like Undercover Tourists.

Walt Disney Animation Studios Short Films Collection Review

Walt Disney Short Films Cover
Walt Disney Short Films Cover

Walt Disney Short Films Cover

From Walt Disney Animation Studios comes an extraordinary new collection of award-winning and beloved short films featuring Disney’s Frozen Fever, starring Anna, Elsa, Olaf, Sven and Kristoff, and the Oscar-nominated Lorenzo (Best Animated Short, 2004). The Short Films Collection includes contemporary shorts starring classic characters, such as the groundbreaking 2013 Mickey Mouse cartoon, Get A Horse! And the holiday treat Prep & Landing: Operation: Secret Santa, as well as celebrated Oscar winners Paperman (2012) and Feast (2014). Enjoy them together for the first time in this must-own collection with all-new extras including an inside look at the Disney Animation shorts, featuring introductions and interviews with the acclaimed filmmakers themselves.

I love anything Disney so I could not wait to get this DVD because it had some shorts that I never even heard of. I know, I am not a good Disney addict at times. I was expecting just a DVD with the shorts on it. However what I got was something better, leave it to Disney to make things more magical. My favorite part of this DVD was before each short someone involved in making the short tells us a bit about it and gives us some background info on it. That makes the short mean a bit more to me.

The Bonus Feature was great. I learned that once a year the animators get to pitch ideas to John Lasseter. They talk about the process that goes into making just one short. It is quite the process for that few minutes of Disney magic. We also learn about their research and how the original drawings are guarded and they could not even touch some of them and others they had to use white gloves to touch.

My favorite short is “Frozen Fever”, the little white snow buddies are the cutest! I wish that happened to me when I sneeze! All the shorts are awesome and have their own appeal. Some of them were not would I expect from Disney, but there is nothing with that.

My daughter loved Paperman and The Little Match Girl. What is your favorite short?

I give this DVD and A+

Top 10 Walt Disney World and Disneyland Water Rides

splash mountain
splash mountain

splash mountain

If you’ve ever been to a Disney park then you know it can get really hot during the day. What better way to cool off than on a refreshing (sometimes drenching) water ride? I’ve put together a list of the top 10 water rides at Walt Disney World and Disneyland. Check it out:

1. Splash Mountain

There is a version of this ride at both theme parks. Though they are slightly different, both end with a thrilling 5-story drop! Not every seat in the boat will get soaked but prepare to get wet as you accompany Br’er Rabbit on a search for his laughing place. Be sure to sing “Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah” along with the backwoods critters as you begin to dry out. The height requirement for both rides is 40 inches.

2. Pirates of the Caribbean

This is another ride that has a different version in both Disneyland and the Magic Kingdom. Both have small drops and similar atmosphere. The ride at Disneyland is a few minutes longer than the one at Magic Kingdom and you get to float by the guests dining at the Blue Bayou restaurant as you head out on your adventure. View boisterous buccaneers relish in their plunders and sing along as they serenade you with “Yo Ho, Yo Ho (A Pirate’s Life For Me)”. You’ll also catch glimpses of famous faces like Captain Jack Sparrow or Davy Jones. You might get splashed some on this ride, but don’t expect to get drenched.

kali pic

3. Kali River Rapids

This thrilling whitewater adventure is located in Animal Kingdom. Board a large, circular 12-person raft and gently glide up a 90-foot knoll. Don’t be fooled by the gentle start to this ride! Prepare to bob, spin, and bounce your way down this fast-moving river in the heart of Asia and then plummet down a 20-foot slope. If you’re not soaking wet by then, watch out for non-rafters using the elephant squirters to spray riders as they drift by. This is definitely a ride to hit up on a hot day! Height requirement for this attraction is 38 inches.

4. Grizzly River Run

Similar to Kali River Rapids is Grizzly River Run located in Disney’s California Adventure. This whitewater raft ride seats 8 guests to a raft and takes you roaring down a California river in the Sierra Nevada mountains. You’ll bob, spin, and bounce along this river as well as plummet down what looks like a perilous bedrock slope. Height requirement for this attraction is 42 inches.

5. Matterhorn Bobsleds

Unique to Disneyland, the Matterhorn Bobsleds will send you careening down the icy slopes of Switzerland’s most famous peak. You’ll swoop in and out of caves and along jagged edges, but watch out for the mythic Abominable Snowman! There are 2 almost identical tracks, one in Fantasyland and the other on the outskirts of Tomorrowland. Both are equally fun, but the one in Fantasyland is slightly longer and has some sharper curves. While the majority of this ride is dry, towards the end your bobsled splashes down into a shallow alpine lake. There’s a small chance of getting wet.

small world

6. “it’s a Small World”

“The Happiest Cruise That Ever Sailed” is also at both Disneyland and the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World.  You’ll travel to all 7 continents and see for yourself that it truly is a small world after all. While both rides take you on a musical boat tour hosted by the children of the world, the attraction at Disneyland is a few minutes longer and has different outdoor décor. You’ll also get to see familiar characters such as Peter Pan, Cinderella, Pinocchio and Ariel on the version at Disneyland. There is a very minimal chance that you’ll get wet on this ride.

7. Jungle Cruise

A classic attraction that is also at both Disney parks is the Jungle Cruise. Board a boat with other guests and your skipper and take a tour across the rivers of Asia, Africa and South America. Both rides take you on a thrilling expedition where you’ll see tigers, elephants, gorillas and maybe even a headhunter! Encounter awesome wonders of nature and enjoy your skipper’s clever jokes. Seeing the backside of water never gets old! Each ride provides different scenery and the version at Magic Kingdom is a few minutes longer than the one at Disneyland. There’s a chance you’ll get slightly wet on this attraction.

Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage

8. Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage

While this is considered a water ride at Disneyland, there is no way to get wet. Climb down inside a research submarine and take a seat in front of a porthole. “Dive” down into the depths and explore a newly discovered volcano and follow along with Marlin and Dory on their quest to find Nemo. You’ll be immersed in your own underwater adventure with your favorite Finding Nemo friends.

9. Davy Crockett’s Explorer Canoes

Paddle along the Rivers of America in a 20-passenger vessel for a sightseeing tour around Tom Sawyer’s Island at Disneyland. You’ll get a unique perspective of the Rivers of America as well as take in sights and sounds from Frontierland, New Orleans Square and Critter Country. The canoes are powered entirely by paddles and follow the same route as the Mark Twain Riverboat and the Sailing Ship Columbia. This attraction operates seasonally and is only open during certain times of the day. There’s a very good chance you’ll stay dry on this attraction.

10. Storybook Land Canal Boats

Hop aboard a 12-person boat for a gentle “mini” tour of fairytale destinations from classic Disney animated movies. As you cruise through Storybook Land, be on the lookout for famous sites such as Prince Eric’s palace from The Little Mermaid, the dwarf’s cottage from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, and the royal city of Agrabah from Aladdin. Your tour guide will tell you the story of each miniature scene. This gentle cruise ride can be found in Fantasyland at Disneyland and there is very little chance of getting wet.

Did your favorite Disney water ride make my list? If not, let me know your favorite in the comments!

New Disney Theme Park Shopping App Coming

unnamed 11

Shop

Disney is planning on releasing a new app that will make your theme park shopping much easier. This new app will have almost all the merchandise available in the parks. So you know that moment when you leave Disney and you really wish you would have bought that thing that you loved, then you try to find it online and can’t, well that will no longer happen.

It will be called “Shop Disney Parks“. You will be able to find and order merchandise from any Disney operated store at Disney World.

If you are shopping from the U.S. this app will let you look and buy and then ship almost any item. However, it will also work while you are in the park. You will be able to have your items shipped to the front of the park, or your resort, if you are staying at a Disney resort. You will be able to scan merchandise in the store and learn more about it.

But wait there is more, you will be able to link it to My Disney Experience and the app will be able to use your Annual Pass and Disney Vacation Club discounts. I know many people have been asking for that for quite sometime now.

This app will be available soon. It will work on iOS devices and Android.

Percy Pack: Greek Mythology + Greek Heroes Giveaway!!

PercyPackBADGE
PercyPackBADGE

PercyPackBANNER

What is so fascinating about Greek Mythology? That’s the question most Percy Jackson fans face having to answer when talking about these lovely novels. Percy Jackson was my first experience with Mythology in general and I remember being fascinated by not only the stories of the Greek Gods themselves but also each ones distinct personality and attitude.

Each God represents something completely different from Poseidon God of the sea to Athena Goddess of wisdom there’s a different type of god for every fan out there which might be one of the most appealing parts of Mythology in general. There is so many gods that are relatable to the masses in one way or another. Whether you’re into the almighty powerful Zeus or the beautiful Aphrodite each one brings something different to the table. My personal favorite God is Hades God of the Underworld (conveniently located under Los Angeles if you’ve read the Percy Jackson books) I love his general stubbornness at the situation he’s in and I love how in the Percy Jackson books he’s portrayed as cynical and sarcastic which to me makes him funny and a pleasure to read about!

There’s so much that makes Greek Mythology interesting that no one answer could sum it all up. Whether it’s a character you love or a myth you love to read over and over there is one thing that is for sure Greek Mythology is vast and never ending from the stories to the characters and the challenges they face. Though if you were to ask me I’d say Greek Mythology is fascinating simply because it can be anything you want it to be and interpreted in many ways from Legends to stories like in the Percy Jackson novels!

What’s your favorite Greek Myth or God? What makes Greek Mythology fascinating to you? Let me know @Chipandcompany on twitter with hashtag #ReadRiordan
