Morimoto Asia is an anticipated collaboration between Chef Masaharu Morimoto and Patina Restaurant Group have announced a scheduled opening date of September 30, 2015 . The Japanese master chef’s first pan-Asian dining experience will showcase flavors from across the Asian continent, all with Morimoto’s creative touch.

Morimoto Asia’s eye-catching, 36-foot tall, two-story layout has been designed by STUDIO V Architecture. It includes lounges, dining spaces, and an exhibition kitchen that allows guests a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the culinary action. The second-level sushi bar and lounge have a separate entrance. Morimoto Asia will debut as part of The Landing, one of four neighborhoods in the new Disney Springs at Walt Disney World Resort.

“This has been a project of passion for our team and Chef Morimoto. We can’t wait to open our doors to everyone visiting Disney Springs this fall and beyond,” said Nick Valenti, restaurateur and CEO of Patina Restaurant Group.

Morimoto Asia will offer an entirely new experience for the diner, due to the creativity of Chef Morimoto, already one of the most inventive forces in Asian cuisine. The menu is Chef Morimoto’s eclectic take on his favorite Asian flavors including moo shu pork, Peking duck, lobster chow fun, sweet and sour crispy whole fish, and kung pao chicken. Dim sum will be served during weekend brunch service, and will include a variety of dumplings, shumai, bao, spare ribs and more. Being a true family-friendly destination, kids will have a variety of Asian-infused dishes including chicken ramen, kakuni pork bao, and karaage fried chicken.

The sushi bar will be a culinary experience unto itself. The intimate, 14-seat counter will offer pristine sushi and sashimi options from around the world. Items include toro, kanpachi, Japanese red snapper, uni, sea eel, hamachi, fluke, and salmon, as well as more ocean delicacies. A variety of specialty sushi rolls and selections from the raw bar will also be offered. While traditional sushi service will be limited to the guests seated at the sushi bar, a selection of specialty rolls and sushi platters will be available to the main restaurant’s diners.

Not to be outdone, the beverages at Morimoto Asia will also be destination-worthy. The beers will feature mostly Asian varieties in both bottle and on draft, including the Morimoto signature beer by Rogue Ales.

In addition to the collector’s edition Imperial Pilsner and Morimoto Soba Ale and the highly coveted Black Obi Soba will also be available by the bottle. The restaurant will also offer an assortment of sake, including the Morimoto signature line, plus a wine list showcasing wines of the world, signature cocktails and non-alcoholic drinks.

“I am excited to create a menu that allows so many of my favorite Asian flavors to come alive all in one place,” said Chef Masaharu Morimoto. “I hope the guests at Morimoto Asia have as much fun eating this food as I have creating it.”

Morimoto Asia will be a visually stunning addition to Disney Springs. The restaurant’s main entrance features a three-story glass corner, revealing the dramatic interior design including a multi-level bar and spiraling chandelier made of illuminated glass bottles. The sculptural bar at over 270 feet in length is one of the largest in the world, as it leaps through the soaring 36-foot tall space to connect the grand dining room on the ground floor with the upper level, wrapping around the grand stairway. Custom glass beaded chandeliers evoke the ocean delicacies of Chef Morimoto’s cuisine, and are reflected in antique mirrors, interspersed with glass mosaic artworks based on ancient Japanese prints. Chef Morimoto’s exclusive sushi bar is sculpted from hundreds of pieces of hand-selected ash wood, backed with a wall of hammered copper. Morimoto Asia’s two-story outdoor terrace provides patio seating with sweeping views of Disney Springs.

Morimoto Asia will be open daily from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. serving lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch with dim sum.

Sounds good! Are you going?

Universal Orlando’s-Halloween Horror Nights 25-An American Werewolf in London & More!

American Werewolf in London
American Werewolf in London

HHN 25 American Werewolf in London

The American Werewolf in London house was a fan favorite back in 2013, and with the 25th anniversary of Halloween Horror Nights they are bringing back several favorites for fans to enjoy.

The John Landis horror classic, An American Werewolf in London dates back to 1981 when I feel the “real” horror happened! There’s nothing like the classics! In this house you’ll truly feel like you have stepped into the English moors and witness some of the most gruesome bone-crunching transformations. Do you think you can fend off the ferocious attacks by the wolf pack?

Let’s also talk about all of the other details released, the first being the original house’s that the creative minds of Universal Orlando created just to terrorize it’s fans. Some you might noticed from years past, and some you might see as a whole new horror. Universal Orlando Halloween Horror Nights 25 is going to be one of the most terrifying years yet! I can’t wait!

Original Design Houses:

Jack's 25 Years of Monsters

Jack Presents: 25 Years of Monsters and Mayhem- In this house you’ll relive some of the most terrifying moments of the past 25 years as Jack releases several horrifying creatures in one place. Think you can survive being attacked by Universal classic monsters? How about some of those blood curdling meat-grinding maniacs? Just when you think you’re safe you’ll find yourself face to face with the fiends of Horror Nights past.

Run Blood Sweat and Tears

RUN: Blood, Sweat and Fears- Just when you think it’s your lucky day, you’ll soon see just how wrong you were! In this house you’ve been selected to be one of the lucky contestants on RUN. One of the most popular yet brutal television show in the world. Will you survive? It will take skill to avoid the assassins known as Reapers as you work your way through the “death obstacles” which are designed to mangle and shred those not so lucky contestants. All for the amusement of the audience watching from home. And good news: the now run-down Hellgate Prison has been selected as the battleground. Good luck!

Asylum in Wonderland

Asylum in Wonderland 3D- Are you crazy enough to follow the white rabbit through the looking glass and into a murderous 3D Wonderland? I know I am! What we have to worry about is this world all in Alice’s mind or are the images we see real enough to kill us? I’m guessing they are real enough to kill us, so don’t drink the tea, and RUN!!!

Body Collectors

Body Collectors: Recollections- Descending upon the innocent at Shadybrook Asylum are the Body Collectors. They have returned to collect the human parts they require to survive. In this house you’ll hear the screams as they echo the hallways as a blizzard rages outside. Yes, even in Florida you’ll see this most evil blizzard like no other. You might think it’s safe to take cover inside the Asylum, but you’ll soon find out just how wrong you were.

Yes, you can now tweet your compliments & complaints to Disney World. Keep in mind this account is specifically made to be a point of contact between guests on vacation and Guest Relations cast members.  So be sure to follow them to get updates as well. This account will be active during park hours, and by active I mean there will CM’s to assist you during regular park hours.

Miles From Tomorrowland “Let’s Rocket” DVD Review

Miles From Tomorrowland DVD Review
Miles From Tomorrowland DVD Review

Miles From Tomorrowland DVD Review

Miles From Tomorrowland has become a huge hit in our home, so I was so excited to sit down and watch the new Miles From Tomorrowland: Let’s Rocket DVD as a family today.

I can remember the excitement building in my son’s eyes every time a preview for this new cartoon would come on Disney Junior. Sure enough the first time we watched it, he was hooked! The DVD box features a stellar hidden mickey filled with a starry galaxy, and our new favorite space exploring family, with Miles riding their awesome robotic pet ostrich Merc.  The DVD also comes with a free mini blastboard flashlight, that gave my son lots of amusement as he clicked it on and off during the show. The first 10 episodes of this show have been gathered for  full hours of space-tastic fun.

Miles From Tomorrowland and Flashlight

Disney Junior’s Miles From Tomorrowland, is an intergalactic adventure, which is so different than the other shows on Disney Junior right now. The show is about a boy named Miles who travels the Galaxy with his his family – mom and ship captain, Phoebe; mechanical engineer dad, Leo; tech-savvy big sister, Loretta; and best friend robo-ostrich pet, Merc, working for the Tomorrowland Transit Authority. Along the way completing missions, and solving problems across space the show teaches not only about teamwork, but family, and communicating with them when problems arise. A valuable lesson is always learned, wether it be siblings working together, accepting responsibility, or doing your part to keep  family safe.

We really enjoy this show as a family, it offers some fun jokes from our childhood as parents, and lots of content to keep our little guy amused. My son not only loves Miles From Tomorrowland, but also engages with it. When Miles hops on his blastboard to save the day, my son jumps up and imagines racing side by side with him. The show also builds an interest in astronomy, my son never even gave a second glance to a telescope before Miles, now he loves to gaze up at the night sky hoping to see some of the amazing stars and plants his new, and very relatable hero has visited. If you haven’t checked out Miles yet, I really encourage everyone to give it a shot. The characters are fun, happy, and really connect with the viewer, the colors are vibrant and eye catching, and it also has a pretty rocking soundtrack!

10 Tips to Ensure Smooth Sailing on the Disney Cruise Line

The key ingredients for a great Disney cruise are pretty simple: show up, relax and have fun!  But I wanted to share some other tips that you will want to make sure you do so you and your family can have the ultimate Disney vacation at sea.  So, without further adieu, here are my 10 tips of things NOT to do on a Disney cruise …

Carry your own luggage onboard.  Let the Disney Cruise Line do it for you!  Whether you arrive to the cruise terminal on Disney Cruise Line transportation or in your own vehicle, they offer services at the port that keep you from having to lug your suitcases onto the ship.  Just bring aboard a day bag with your essential personal items, and your luggage will be delivered to your stateroom in the afternoon.

Live out of your suitcase.  The staterooms are designed with families in mind and offer LOTS of storage space, including a place to tuck away your suitcases.  How cool is that?  One of the perks of cruising is visiting multiple destinations and only unpacking once, so settle in and make yourselves at home on the first day by assigning closet space and drawers to each member of the family.

Clean your stateroom.  As difficult as it may be to break your daily habits, now’s the time to try!  Don’t worry about making the bed each morning, and don’t worry about washing your towels and taking out the trash.  Your stateroom hosts are there to make your stay as pleasant as possible, and if there’s anything you need, just ask.  They are great at helping you get what you need, when you need it!

Introduce yourself to your dining servers each night.  Your serving team stays with you as you visit different restaurants and enjoy new menus each night.  That means only one round of introductions are needed.  And chances are their personalized service and hospitality will make your servers unforgettable.  Many times, if you have a special drink of choice, it will be waiting for you at your table because your team knows what you like!  Just another way the Disney Cruise Line offers amazing, personalized service.

Miss out on time for yourself.   As a parent, this is one of the hardest things sometimes.  You have to remember- it’s your vacation, too!  Activities for families to do together are endless on a Disney cruise, but there’s also no shortage of fun just for adults. The kids clubs are supervised by trained counselors and have the longest operating hours at sea, so there’s no excuse for parents to not take advantage of adult-only dining, spa, quiet pool and other activities.

Disney Cruise Line

Throw away the Navigator.  Your only excuse for tossing this daily activity guide is if you already downloaded the Navigator app on your smart phone. With so many activities happening throughout your cruise, you’ll want Navigator info handy at all times. It gives you the scoop on what’s happening every minute of every day and even categorizes the fun for kids, adults and families.  Each evening, your stateroom host will place one in your room so you can review all the activities for the next day and plan out your fun!

Head back to the ship for lunch while at Castaway Cay.  The Disney Cruise Line is the only cruise line that docks at its own private island, so it’s easy to go back on the ship throughout your day at Castaway Cay.  But if you want to maximize beach time, head to one of three all-you-care-to-eat lunch buffets served under the shade of the island’s covered pavilions.  They are delicious and it just immerses you into the island even more!

Disney Cruise Line

Explore destinations on your own.  Port Adventures are the best way for your family to have an unforgettable experience ashore.   The Disney Cruise Lines offers so many options, the hardest thing will be deciding which to do.  Along with the peace of mind that comes with having all the planning done for you, they offer unique activities that you can only experience through Disney.  Many excursions even offer just-for-kids components, so parents have a little time alone.

Worry about your kids in the youth spaces.  See above! The Disney Cruise Line has the most extensive youth activity spaces of any cruise line, with age-specific areas and interactive programs to entertain children up to 17 years old.  Getting your kids to leave the kids clubs may be the one challenge of your cruise.  And, if you plan to have your tiny sailors spend time in the Nursery, let’s be sure to arrange that ahead of time.

Disney Cruise Line

Watch the fireworks at sea through your camera lens.  This show is so amazing that it’s completely understandable you’ll want to capture every moment on your camera.  Resist the urge and just enjoy the moment with your family!  If you take your eyes off the fireworks, it should only be to glance over at the smiles on your family’s faces.  But, if you are anything like me, you will want to take some photos, so just be sure to try and find that balance, because these fireworks are truly magical!
