Test Track 3.0 Takes Shape at EPCOT as Construction Progresses

Work on the latest evolution of Test Track at EPCOT is shifting into high gear! On a recent visit, we spotted noticeable progress on the attraction’s exterior, including continued work around the newly reconstructed front canopy and fresh paint brightening up sections of the ride’s track. While we are unable to see the status inside the attraction at the moment, the continued work on the exterior indicate the refurbishment is moving at full speed.

First revealed at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, the third iteration of Test Track is being developed in collaboration with Chevrolet. The revamped experience will celebrate the evolution of automotive design while embracing new technology and innovation. According to Walt Disney Imagineering, the ride will pay tribute to the past, present, and future of transportation, highlighting how our relationships with mobility continue to evolve.

A key addition to the attraction will be a newly designed queue featuring six distinct exhibits. Each room will spotlight pioneering vehicles and the creative minds behind them, showcasing the innovations that have shaped the way we travel. Once aboard, guests will embark on a thrilling journey through immersive show scenes, exploring onboard technology, customization, and personalization before hitting a scenic outdoor route—reminding us all of the pure joy of driving, the beauty of the open road, and the connections we share through travel.

Zootopia: Better Zoogether! Takes a Major Step Forward with New Disney Construction Permit

Disney’s Animal Kingdom is gearing up for its next big transformation! Walt Disney Imagineering has filed a new construction permit for Zootopia: Better Zoogether!, the upcoming attraction that will bring the vibrant world of Zootopia to life inside the Tree of Life Theater.

The permit, assigned to Icarus Exhibits, signals the start of set installation, suggesting that themed elements and staging for the attraction will soon be underway. This follows another recently filed permit for general construction, electrical work, and area development—hinting at a significant overhaul of the theater space before the show’s debut in winter 2025.

Zootopia: Better Zoogether! is expected to transport guests into the animated city’s unique biomes, introducing them to characters from the hit 2016 film through a combination of 3D projection technology, immersive effects, and animatronic elements. While Disney has yet to reveal all the details, the experience promises to be a dynamic and engaging addition to the park—and the first permanent Zootopia-themed attraction at Walt Disney World.

To make way for the new show, It’s Tough to be a Bug! will close permanently on March 17, 2025. A staple of Animal Kingdom since the park’s opening in 1998, the attraction has long entertained guests with its mix of in-theater effects, animatronics, and 3D visuals featuring characters from A Bug’s Life.

CHOC Walk in the Park Returns to Disneyland Resort This August

CHOC Walk in the Park Announced for 2025 at Disneyland

The Disneyland Resort is once again partnering with the Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) to host the 33rd annual CHOC Walk in the Park on Sunday, August 3rd, 2025. This unique fundraising event invites participants to walk a three-mile course through Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park before the parks open to the public, all in support of CHOC’s mission to provide exceptional pediatric care.

As part of Rady Children’s Health, a leading pediatric healthcare system in Southern California, CHOC is committed to delivering innovative and high-quality care to children, regardless of their families’ financial circumstances. The funds raised through CHOC Walk in the Park directly support this mission, helping to advance pediatric care, research, and education.

Last year’s event saw over 6,500 participants on 350 teams, raising over $2.3 million for children’s health and well-being. This year, organizers anticipate a similar turnout with teams from across the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Australia, and Japan.

“CHOC Walk in the Park is an extraordinary event that unites thousands of people from all over the world to help advance pediatric care, research, and education,” said Kimberly Chavalas Cripe, Co-President and Co-CEO of Rady Children’s Health. “Disneyland Resort and its cast members work tirelessly to ensure participants enjoy a memorable and magical experience. Goodbye Tortilla Jo’s: Demolition Starts at Downtown Disney

After serving countless guests for years, Tortilla Jo’s at Downtown Disney District is now being dismantled. The Mexican restaurant, which permanently closed its doors last year, is being demolished, marking the final stage of its departure.

Despite Tortilla Jo’s permanent closure in March 2024, followed by the Taqueria’s closure in April, demolition activity was delayed. While signage was swiftly removed, physical construction walls didn’t appear around the building until this month. Now, the demolition has intensified, with visible structural elements being dismantled. Notably, the once-familiar straw awning above the front entrance has been replaced with a stark black covering, signaling the final stages of the building’s transformation.

The demolition of Tortilla Jo’s is revealing the extent of the interior and exterior changes. On the second-floor balcony, the once-prominent red panels have been stripped from the support pole bases, exposing the underlying structure. Down below, a shutter-like awning has vanished from above a first-floor doorway, and the doors themselves have been completely removed, leaving only a dark, empty frame. Despite the building’s dismemberment, remnants of its former ambiance linger; string lights still drape between the structure and surrounding palm trees, illuminating the now-vacant outdoor seating area. It’s evident that the interior has undergone significant gutting. Further demolition is underway near the building’s corner, where a small roof has been reduced to twisted steel and tattered black straw.

Arthur & Sons Steak and Bourbon, a classic steakhouse, and Pearl’s Roadside BBQ, a quick-service eatery, will replace the demolished Tortilla Jo’s and Taqueria at Downtown Disney District.

Jolly Holiday Refurbishment Update at Disneyland

Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe in Disneyland has been closed for refurbishment since January, with scaffolding now covering its facade. The light-up Jolly Holiday sign is still visible.

Construction walls are up around the bakery along with scaffolding and scrim. It appears the closure is for regular maintenance but nothing has been confirmed.

The Disneyland Resort calendar indicates Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe will be closed through March 21st, with a planned reopening on March 22nd. However, it’s important to remember that operating schedules are always subject to change.

Signs featuring the penguins from Mary Poppins are up on the construction walls as well. They read, “Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe is unavailable. Please enjoy our other Main Street restaurants.”

New “Moana 2” Topiaries Welcome Guests to EPCOT’s Flower & Garden Festival

Just in time for the 2025 EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival, a brand-new “Moana 2” topiary display has arrived at the park’s entrance, adding a touch of Polynesian charm to the vibrant celebration.

Located in the central planter facing the entrance, the display features Moana, Maui, Pua, and HeiHei, all meticulously crafted from vibrant plants and flowers. The characters are set against a sandy “beach” backdrop, complete with torches adorned with purple and white flowers and a charming hut.
