Disney Grants Their 100,000th Wish! - YouTube

Make A Wish recently celebrated their 100,000th Disney wish. How incredible! Make A Wish has been working with The Walt Disney Company now for 35 years.

“It’s amazing to think that 35 years ago, Make-A-Wish granted its very first wish at the Disneyland Resort, which sparked a legacy of fulfilling wishes that has captured so many hearts,” said Bob Chapek, chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts. “It’s wonderful to celebrate our 100,000th wish together, and we’re proud to play a role in bringing smiles and laughter to wish children and their families.”

During a special celebration recently at the Rivers of America, Make A Wish shared the story of  Luke. Luke is a 7 year old who was granted a wish, along with his entire family. They spent a few amazing days visiting Disneyland. He got to meet Elsa and Anna, Lightening and Mater, and had special viewing for World of Color. He is one of many.

The Walt Disney Company grants 8,000 wishes a year. These wishes include the parks, Disney Cruise Line, and visits to TV and movie sets.

Reports show a woman died after riding Space Mountain this summer

Disney World, and all the other area theme parks have to report injuries to the state quarterly. So, it was recently made public that in July a 55 year old woman, Pamela Lynn Haynes, from Tennessee, lost consciousness after getting off Space Mountain.

She was taken to Florida Hospital Celebration Health and was put in ICU. She died of cardiopulmonary arrest and septic shock. She did have some serious pre-existing conditions like hypertension, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and congestive heart failure. In previous years reports have shown that 3 other guests have passed away after going unconscious on or immediately after riding Space Mountain. They also had pre-existing conditions.

There are warning signs posted before you get on the ride warning you not to ride if you have certain health concerns.

Our condolences go out to the family.

Disney Infinity Coming Soon to the Disney Dream!

disney cruise line

The Disney Dream will be coming out of her dry dock very soon and one of the enhancements onboard is the addition of Disney Infinity to the Oceaneer Club.  This new, toy-box themed space will bring the virtual experience that you love at home to sea in a whole new way.

Disney’s entertainment team is developing some really cool activities that put kids right into real-life gameplay.  One scenario lets kids transform into some of there beloved Disney characters- such as Olaf, Donald Duck or the villainous Maleficent.  During the game play, kids will stand on a life-sized Disney Infinity base and control the actions of the character that appears on a giant video screen in front of them and compete in challenges in the Toy Box.

Another really cool experience will give kids the chance to hone their archery skills with some help from Disney’s newest princess, Merida, and other great archers.  Youth counselors will be making sure kids have tons of fun in the Oceaneer Club and participate in group activities like building a racetrack around the room and learning to draw Disney Infinity characters.

As part of this new experience onboard the Disney Dream, Disney Infinity created virtual toys and environments exclusive to the Disney Cruise Line.  You can find Mickey in a racecar-sytle cruise ship and Chip and Dale in sailor attire to act as companions to the characters in the Toy Box Mode.  Kids can virtually play in some of their favorite Disney Cruise Line destinations too, including Castaway Cay!  How cool is that?  The best part comes after the cruise, when you can download this exclusive content, including all custom Toy Boxes your kiddos created on the Disney Dream, to use with your Disney Infinity playset back home.  Now, that is truly magical!!

If you or your kids love the Disney Infinity gaming system, then a cruise on the Disney Dream is a must!  Email me at [email protected] to learn more and to find the best sailing for your family.  And, don’t forget about our special gift card promotion running through the end of October.  You can read all about that HERE!

Maureen O’Hara passed away at age 95. She passed away in her sleep at home in Boise, Idaho. She arrived in Hollywood and starred in “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” and that was only the beginning of an amazing career.  She was known as the Queen of Technicolor because of her red hair and pale skin.

She has starred in many movies and won awards. Most notably on November 4, 2014 she was honored by a very long overdue Oscar for “Lifetime Achievement” at the annual Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Governors Awards.

More than 4.3 billion servings of Disney and Marvel-branded fruits and vegetables have been served in North America since DCP began tracking in 2006. The Walt Disney Company’s commitment to building healthier generations began nearly ten years ago and stemmed from a growing societal concern over children’s health and the belief that The Walt Disney Company could make a real difference. In 2006, The Walt Disney Company became the first major media company to establish formal Nutrition Guidelines and has marked every year of its Commitment with significant milestones such as expanding content and experiences to inspire healthier food, physical activity and hygiene choices, and becoming the first major media company to launch food advertising standards for kids and the introduction of the Mickey Check. The Mickey Check is a quick and easy way for families to identify healthier food options in stores, on-air, on-line, at Disney theme parks and other places where Disney products are sold. Foods and recipes that feature the Mickey Check adhere to stringent standards and meet Disney Nutrition Guidelines, which are continually updated to remain best in class.
