Disney*Pixar’s Newest Film, “The Good Dinosaur” in theaters today, brings us a familiar story of friendship and learning how to face your fears. Th film starts off asking “What would have happened if the asteroid that supposedly killed off the dinosaurs, missed Earth? The Good Dinosaur’s response is – We would find ourselves in a land in the distant future where dinosaurs and humans co-exist.

The Good Dinosaur starts out with the birth of the lead character Arlo, (Raymond Ochoa) a young and somewhat clumsy little Apatosaurus. We meet his family and immediately bond with them as they go through the daily struggles of working on the farm. The youngest member of the family, Arlo goes through some hard moments to find his place in the family. A series of events, introduce Arlo to Spot (Jack Bright), a young feral boy who acts more like a dog than a boy and is all alone in the world. Together they are thrown into an adventure where both will discover a special bond and the meaning of teamwork. Whether they are fighting off pterodactyls or helping T-Rex cowboys, and raptors rustle up a herd of longhorns, the two must work together in the wild as they make their way back to Arlo’s family.

The familiar plot of a life changing events, a struggle to overcome a hardship or fear and the special bond that is formed between characters is one we have seen in many Disney and Pixar Films including Lion King, UP, Finding Nemo and many others. In The Good Dinosaur, the story line takes it one step further and provides a few more scary moments and some uncomfortable scenes where Arlo repeatedly falls, slips and / or slides into the ground, boulders etc. causing this Entertainment Writer to repeatedly wince in her seat.

The Good Dinosaur is a great movie and one that will be enjoyed by all, however, it is one that may be better suited for the older kids in the family. Bring plenty of tissues and go see “The Good Dinosaur” in theaters starting Wednesday, November 25th.

New Dining Experiences Coming to two Disneyland Restaurants

This coming February there will be two new dining experiences at Disneyland park.

Beginning February 10th, River Belle Terrace will become a table-service location and serve lunch and dinner. The menu will offer Southern barbecue staples like ribs, chicken and sustainable seafood along with delicious starters and sides. There will also be new signature desserts available as well. Reservations for River Belle Terrace will be available soon!

The other new dining experience is happening at Rancho del Zocalo Restaurante. Beginning February 2nd you will be able to order breakfast at this location. A few favorites from the old River Belle Terrace menu (Mickey Mouse pancakes) will be offered as well as new Mexican-inspired breakfast entrees. Breakfast will be available until 11:30 a.m. every morning.

Car Taken from Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort

According to Orange County Officials, there was a Toyota Sienna stolen from Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort early this morning around 5:20 a.m. A juvenile has been caught in connection with theft.

The report state that 2 people hit a kiosk with the stolen car. They eventually ended up ditching the car.

There were no injuries reported.

Zootopia’s New Trailer Introduces “Flash”

Walt Disney Pictures brings us a look at one of my new favorite characters from the upcoming film – Zootopia. The trailer below gives a hysterical look at a visit to Zootopia’s DMV. One of my new favorite characters, FLASH (voiced by Raymond Persi) is part of an all star cast including Ginnifer Goodwin, Jason Bateman, Shakira, Idris Elba, J.K. Simmons, Nate Torrence, Jenny Slate, Tommy Chong, Octavia Spencer, Bonnie Hunt, Don Lake, Alan Tudyk, Tommy “Tiny” Lister, Raymond Persi, Katie Lowes, Jesse Corti, John DiMaggio.

Directed by Byron Howard and Rich Moore, Co-Directed by Jared Bush and produced by Clark Spencer, Zootopia is the story of Rookie Officer Judy Hopps (Goodwin). The first bunny on the police force full of big, tough animals, she will need to prove herself. Teaming up with Nick Wilde (Bateman), to solve a crime will lead them through the metropolis of Zootopia, where no matter what you are, from biggest animal to smallest, you can be anything!

Disney’s 2015 Grand Floridian’s Gingerbread House is Now Open

Construction has been completed on the life-size Gingerbread House, complete with hidden Mickey’s, in the lobby of the Grand Floridian Resort. This celebrates the 17th year that the Grand Floridian has provided this experience. Guests will be amazed at not only the detail that has went into the decoration of the Gingerbread House, but the aroma that meets you as you approach.

Erich Herbitschek is the pastry chef behind this amazing creation. Are you wondering what goes into baking for such a large scale project:

1,050 lbs. of honey
800 lbs. flour
600 lbs. of chocolate
600 lbs. of powdered sugar
140 pints of egg whites
35 different spices

When you walk to the backside of the house you will find a shop inside where you can buy limited edition holiday pins and treats including a gingerbread shingle, similar to what you will see on the house. They are delicious! Gluten-free treats are also available for guests to purchase.

A Car from the Disneyland PeopleMover Just Sold for a Fortune!

Yes, you read that right! A car from the Disneyland PeopleMover has sold at an L.A. auction for $471,500. Almost half a million dollars! The PeopleMover was a well known Disneyland slow moving ride that takes passengers on a tour of Tomorrowland. It closed down in 1995.

It is estimated that the PeopleMover had taken somewhere around 1 million people on a tour of Tomorrowland.

Although the PeopleMover is just a distant memory at Disneyland, the track is still there. Now if you want to ride the PeopleMover you have to come to Disney World.

People from around the world put in bids to buy it. The actual buyer has not been identified.
