Recently I discovered these breath taking works of art by TheBeadLadiesII on Etsy. They take vintage silver spoons and flat ware and turn it into gorgeous one of a kind pieces of jewelry!

The wonderful thing about this shop is that all of their jewelry is made from original, vintage flatware. They use no reproductions, copies, or re-plated pieces, so you are getting an authentic one of a kind piece of history to pass down. The pieces can be customized for different sizings, and come embellished with silver filled components, semi-precious stone beads, and even Swarvorski crystals!

Check out some of the amazing Disney pieces they have below:

Aren’t these just the most charming bracelets and rings ever? Would you wear one of these vintage treasures?

Daredevil

Marvel and Netflix are sharing the first official photos from Season 2 of Marvel’s Daredevil. The second season coming in 2016, “hits the ground running” per Doug Petrie during an interview with Entertainment Weekly. Marco Ramirez said the “new season will start off with a bang”.

The photos add to the story line with the first one showing the Punisher giving Daredevil an ultimatum “watch me kill someone or shoot me before I do”.  The pictures are also featured in the Marvel Comics from Steve Dillion’s and Garth Ennis’ Punisher MAX #3. The second photo appears to come from Daredevil: Yellow #3 where Matt is using his gifts to hustle at a pool game

The series will be giving Jon Bernthal a chance to play the Punisher and is going to have the audience second guessing the morality of Frank Castle and Matt Murdock.   Petrie talked about how “We wanted the viewers to root for the guy with the gun but also force them to second guess themselves. Bringing in Elodie Yung’s Elektra will also challenge the moral compass of Matt and as his beautiful but bad girlfriend who does everything wrong, she will be the balance to Matt’s taming of his wild side.

Season 2 of Marvel’s Daredevil will bring back Charlie Cox (Matt Murdock), Deborah Ann Woll (Karen Page) , Elden Henson (Foggy Nelson), Scott Glenn (Stick) and Rosario Dawson (Claire Temple).  The debut of Jon Bernthal (Frank Castle, aka the Punisher) and Elodie Yung (Elektra Natchios) is produced by Doug Petrie, Marco Ramirez and Drew Goddard along with Jeph Loeb.  Produced by Marvel Television, Season Two will be coming out in 2016.   Catch up on Season One available on Netflix, and stay tuned for more of your favorite Marvel updates on www.chipandco.com.

Disney DIY – Host a fun Finding Nemo themed Movie Night!

Nemo COllage

Nemo COllage

If you’re looking for the perfect Disney flick for family movie night, might I suggest you turn on Pixar’s Finding Nemo? It’s funny, heartwarming, and great for those of all ages! If you’re looking to make your movie night special, then check out some of my ideas for creating the perfect Finding Nemo Themed Movie Night:

The Food: Everyone knows the most important part of any get together is the food – and movie night is no exception! Easy things to serve include a fish bowl full of goldfish crackers, Swedish fish gummies, or sandwiches shaped like fish/starfish (with the help of cookie cutters!). Cupcakes are always a good choice too –

squirt-cupcakes-recipe-photo-420x420-cl-b

Use your favorite flavor cupcake/frosting recipe, and then decorate with the help of some gummies – and the result is some pretty darn cute Squirt Happy Turtlecakes! Or if you’re feeling crafty and want to work on your fondant skills – then you can make these Nemo cupcakes – which are sure to wow your movie night guests!

Ocean water

For drinks, you can easily serve up some “Ocean Water” – mason jars of sprite/7-up with some blue food coloring, ice, and a Swedish fish “floating” at the top – add a cute straw and you’re done!

nemo-3d-papercraft-printable-photo-420x420-fs-img_9887

Activities: While the move is the main attraction here, you might want to plan some fun pre-movie activities for your guests. Like maybe testing their origami skills with this fun Nemo papercraft

BobbingforNemo

Setup a fun Bobbing For Nemo station (outside would probably be the best place for this one!)

You’ll need:

Clean, new sponges in orange, blue and pink

Pen

Scissors

Templates (print them here)

Tub of water

Aquarium Net (for “fishing”)

How To Play

Print and cut out the templates.

Use templates to trace shapes onto clean, new sponges. This works best when sponges are still damp from their packaging. Note: Tracing is a good task for preschoolers working on their hand-eye coordination.

For Party Time: Drop sponges into a tub of water. Have kids take turns using aquarium nets to fish out their favorite sponges. Aquarium nets come in a variety of sizes; have kids try catching all of the sponges in a big net, or have them try to grab one sponge in a small net. After the party, guests can take sponges home as favors.

Other Uses For The Sponges:

Sponge Painting: Use sponges to re-create Finding Nemo art. Have kids dip sponges in paint and then press them onto blue construction paper, creating their own under-the-sea scene.

Bath Time: Have fun in the tub with your Nemo friends. Give kids clean, new aquarium nets and let them try to catch the floating sponges.

Décor: Check out these free Finding Nemo Printables, or order some party decorations here

I will be hosting my own Finding Nemo movie night in honor of the sequel Finding Dory that will be coming to theaters next June – check out more info on that here, and stay tuned for more movie news and Disney DIY right here on Chip and Co!

5 Reasons Why We Love the New Club Disney

clubdisney
clubdisney

club disney

Have you had a chance yet to check out the all-new Club Disney at Walt Disney World’s Hollywood Studios theme park? It just recently opened on December 1, 2015. If you haven’t yet been, you absolutely must go and experience it! This is especially if you have children who love interacting with the Disney characters. It’s an awesome indoor character dance party, conveniently located in a brand new building (called the Sunset Showcase) next to the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. This was built-in what was previously just a backstage area. Simply put: I LOVE the new Club Disney!!! I could do nothing but hang out in there all day and be perfectly happy! It’s got everything I need. Here are my top 5 reasons why I love it so much:

#5 – It’s got a Snack Bar! Enough said, right??? My favorite new hangout spot has fun eats and drinks, so what more could I want? Currently they’re serving mini corn dog nuggets (which is one of our all-time favorite snacks at Casey’s Corner in the Magic Kingdom), Mickey jumbo soft pretzels, club sandwiches, hot dogs, cupcakes, brownies, soda, water, hot cocoa, and specialty lemonade in 2 different flavors – green apple and blue cotton candy. There’s even a souvenir bucket available!

#4 – It has cell phone charging stations!  If you’ve spent time at the Disney theme parks with your cell phone, chances are you’re on social media some of the time and also using your My Disney Experience app, so of course all of this activity can really wear down your battery after a while. Sometimes it doesn’t take very long to deplete! How great that Club Disney has a couple of charging stations to refuel your smart phone! And I’m not talking about just some available electrical outlets to plug-in your own charger – no, they actually do provide several different cables for you to accommodate all types & brands of cell phones.

#3 – There’s great music! I am a lover of current pop music, so I very much enjoyed the Top 40 hits played by the live DJ on the Club Disney stage. He plays great music to get down and boogie to! There’s a nice, big dance floor on which you can bust a move with your family, and with the beloved Disney characters! They’ve created such a fun, fabulous party atmosphere – just like an adult nightclub, but for kids – with tons of colorful lights and giant screens, surrounding the room 360 degrees, that show scenes from popular Disney films.

#2 – It’s got great character interaction! At any given time throughout the day, you can dance along with several of your favorite classic Disney characters. At varying times, Pluto, Chip & Dale, Donald, Daisy, Mickey, Minnie, & Goofy appear on the dance floor to play with kids both young and old. When we last visited, I believe there were always four of them out at one time. This is such a rare and unique opportunity for some more up close & personal, extended time interacting with the characters in such a fun, relaxed way. Unlike the many character dining experiences at WDW (which can be quite costly), this experience is completely free with park admission. And unlike most character meet & greets in the parks, this has no long line to wait in. Currently there is another dance party you can partake in daily at Magic Kingdom with the Incredibles family, but it takes place outdoors. The beauty of Club Disney is that it all takes place indoors! Which leads me to my next reason…

# 1 – It’s indoors! My #1 top reason why I love Club Disney so much is that it is the perfect oasis to relax and take a chill break inside the cool, refreshing air-conditioned comfort of the Sunset Showcase building. There are plenty of comfy couches and chairs available all around the dance floor to rest your weary feet and just sit back & watch as your little ones go forth and enjoy themselves. Too much running around in the parks with the heat & humidity of FL weather and the large Disney crowds can lead to some crankiness, therefore it’s so nice to have a place like this to come & have a reprieve. The location of it really is spectacular for keeping young ones entertained while the adults & older children in the family go on nearby thrill rides like the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster and the Tower of Terror. It’s even got nice, big bathrooms available for your convenience. Another fun feature of Club Disney is the option of exploring the 4 interactive play exhibits where kids can use a digital paintbrush to color pictures displayed on large screens. It’s similar to what you can experience at the new Colortopia exhibit in Epcot.

My little guy had a blast at Club Disney, and so did I. Hope you get to enjoy it soon as well!

Five New Star Wars Movies Are Coming Our Way!

SW

Walt Disney Pictures and LucasFilm have announced the next five Star Wars Films coming our way beginning with the first one December of 2016 and a new one every year through 2020.   The list is impressive and already has fans commenting on who is and is not on the list of Episode VIII.

Are you ready for some major Star Wars Action?   Although we don’t have a lot of information about the later films, we do know that the next one coming our way is:

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.   Starring Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Riz Ahmed, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Jiang Wen, Forest Whitaker, Mads Mikkelsen, and Alan Tudyk.  Rogue One follows a group of Rebel fighters on a desperate mission to steal the plans for the Death Star.  Directed by Gareth Edwards and written by Gary Whitta and Chris Weitz, Rogue One:  The Star Wars Story will be in theaters, December 16, 2016.

Fans of The Force Awakens will have to wait until May 26, 2017 for Star Wars Episode VIII, which reportedly stars:  Mark Hamill, Daisy Ridley and for now Oscar Isacc.  Written and directed by Rian Johnson, we will have to wait a bit for more updates, trailers and story line information.

With a working title of The Star Wars Anthology: Han Solo next on the schedule, LucasFilm brings us back to a young Hans Solo and the story of how he became a smuggler and thief that Obi-Wan Kenobi and Skywalker first met at Mos Eisley.   Directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, written by Lawrence and Jon Kasdan, the film has a release date of May 25, 2018.  However no information about who will be starring has been released.

Star Wars: Episode IX comes next on the list with little known except for a tentative release date of 2019.  To be directed by Colin Trevorrow and Written by Rian Johnson, this film will be one that many will be highly anticipating.

Last but by no means least on the list and one, I’m sure many Star Wars Fans will be thrilled about is Star Wars Anthology: Boba Fett.  The only information currently available is an estimated release date of 2020.  Four long years to wait will have us anxious for any news.  But for now we are happy to report that our need for Star Wars films will continue to be fed by the talented folks at LucasFilm.

Big changes are coming for Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida. Some attractions will be closing to make way for Star Wars Land. Earlier in 2015 it was announced that this was the last year for the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights. The last night to see the lights is January 3rd. It was also recently announced that Pizza Planet will be closed for most of the year for refurbishment.

Other closures coming are the “Stars of Cars” and “Phineas and Ferb” meet-and-greets. The meet-and-greets are located at the back of Streets of America near Mama Melrose and the exit of MuppetVision 3D. January 4th will be the last day to experience them before they close permanently.

Also, the Joffrey’s Coffee stand located next to these two meet-and-greets will cease operation at the end of Jan. 4, 2016, as well.

Will you miss these meet-and-greets? Let me know your thoughts in the comments!

George Lucas accidentally calls Disney white slavers

georgelucas finished
georgelucas finished

georgelucas_finished

As you may already be aware, in 2012 George Lucas sold his company Lucasfilm, to the Walt Disney Company for approximately $4.06 billion dollars giving Disney full rights to the Star Wars franchise. Disney then created “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” and has plans for 2 more Star Wars movies and 3 anthology films set in the Star Wars universe.

Well apparently George Lucas was not happy with the film, which he feels is retro and fan fed, he felt each film should move forward while Disney wanted to pay homage to the original trilogy. However Lucas may have gone too far in an interview with Charles Rose prior to the film premier, claiming he sold his company to ” white slavers” although not clear what was meant by this statement (Rose never clarified) it was clear fans were taking to the internet and voicing their opinions, some siding with Lucas and some with Disney.

At the premier of Star Wars; The Force Awakens Disney CEO Bob Iger took the time to tank George Lucas, who was at the premier, for his “sheer genius” for creating Star Wars. The film has already grossed over one billion dollars world wide since December 18th.

At this point George Lucas has apologized for his statements saying he used “very inappropriate analogy” and was also quoted saying:

“I have been working with Disney for 40 years and chose them as the custodians of Star Wars because of my great respect for the company and Bob Iger’s leadership. Disney is doing an incredible job of taking care of and expanding the franchise. I rarely go out with statements to clarify my feelings but I feel it is important to make it clear that I am thrilled that Disney has the franchise and is moving it in such exciting directions in film, television and the parks. Most of all I’m blown away with the record-breaking blockbuster success of the new movie and am very proud of JJ and Kathy.”

Beginning January 21, 2016, guests visiting the Disney parks will be able to get a sneak peek of the all new film from the creators of Frozen and Big Hero 6, “Zootopia“!

The sneak peak of this adventure-comedy is coming to Bug’s Life Theater at Disney California Adventure Park and will include special in-theater effects.

Guests of Walt Disney World will be able to view the sneak peak in Hollywood Studios at the One Man’s Dream attraction, which has previously shown peaks of movies like The Good Dinosaur.

Zootopia is a world where animals live together in harmony, and they can be anything they want to be from the biggest elephant to the tiniest shrew. The characters live in neighborhoods like ritzy Sahara Square and Tundratown.

The story follows rookie Officer Judy Hops as she discovers that life on the force isn’t so easy for the first bunny in the group of big strong animals. Officer Hops (voice of Ginnifer Goodwin) tries to prove herself by taking on a big case that forces her to partner with Nick Wilde (voice of Jason Bateman), a con-artist fox.

The movie promises plenty of fun for kids and adults alike.

Here’s a first look at the movie:

Zootopia’s original song, “Try Everything”, written by singer-songwriter Sia and songwriter duo Stargate and performed by Shakira.

Zooptopia was directed by Byron Howard and Rich Moore and produced by Clark Spencer and will open in theaters On March 4, 2016 in 3D.
