After its scheduled annual refurbishment, Kali River Rapids, the thrilling whitewater rafting adventure at Disney’s Animal Kingdom reopened to guests on Friday, March 14, 2025.

The January-to-March closure has become a routine part of the attraction’s maintenance schedule, as Disney strategically targets the cooler months for refurbishments. This timing minimizes the impact on guests since fewer people are eager to get drenched when the temperatures are lower. But with spring just around the corner, now is the perfect time to hop back into your raft and take on the rushing waters of Asia’s fiercest river adventure!

What to Expect on Kali River Rapids

🌿 A Scenic but Wild Ride – Set in the heart of Anandapur, the attraction takes you on a raging whitewater adventure past lush jungles, gushing waterfalls, and bedrock formations before you plunge down a 20-foot slope.

💦 You WILL Get Wet – Whether it’s a light splash or a full drenching, this ride spares no one! If you’d rather stay dry, bring a poncho, extra clothes, or a towel. Disney also provides lockers near the entrance for stashing your valuables before the ride.

⏰ Slightly Different Hours – Keep in mind that Kali River Rapids typically opens one hour after the park does, so plan accordingly if this ride is on your must-do list.

Hookfang Spotted! Another Flying Dragon Takes Shape at Universal Epic Universe

Another dragon has been spotted at Universal’s Epic Universe, and this one is ready to take flight! WESH 2 News caught sight of Hookfang, Snotlout’s fiery and temperamental Monstrous Nightmare, as one of the flying dragon drones set to soar over How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk.

While the news crew didn’t see Hookfang in action just yet, they got a full look at the massive drone parked on the ground. This is our best glimpse so far at Universal’s ambitious plans to bring dragons to life in the skies above Berk, a feature that was confirmed last month.

Hookfang won’t be alone—Universal has revealed that Isle of Berk will be crawling (and flying) with dragons, including:
🐉 Walk-around dragons you can interact with.
🏡 Dragons peeking out of houses and rooftops throughout the village.
🚀 Flying dragon drones, like Hookfang, that will soar overhead.

More Dragons Are Taking Flight

This isn’t the first dragon Universal fans have spotted in the wild. Earlier this year, WESH 2 captured footage of Dart, a Night Light dragon, practicing backstage—offering a sneak peek at one of the life-sized animatronic dragons that will be part of the land. Meanwhile, bioreconstruct’s aerial photography recently gave us a look at Toothless in the first launch of the Hiccup’s Winged Gliders attraction.

Universal Orlando has just given us our first real look at the Hiccup and Toothless meet & greet coming to How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk at Epic Universe—and it’s as legendary as you’d expect! Fans have been waiting to see how this meet-and-greet would take shape ever since it was first announced, and now, with Team Member previews in full swing, we finally have a glimpse at the Viking-and-dragon duo in action.

Universal dropped the reveal on social media with a fittingly epic caption:

Disney Reveals First Look at Cotino Bay, Its Inaugural Storyliving Community

The Cotino Bay community is under development in California’s Coachella Valley, and behind-the-scenes access is now available. The Blueprint, a new online resource, will provide updates on the construction of this first Storyliving by Disney community. The progress, from foundation work to landscaping, is being documented as the community is built in Rancho Mirage.

Construction is moving right along as the Cotino community gets ready to welcome its first residents home to the Coachella Valley.

Disney recently shared a photo of the dazzling Cotino Bay! Featuring the clearest turquoise waters with Crystal Lagoons technology, this will be the perfect place for swimming, kayaking, paddleboarding and more. Interested in taking a dip? Access to Cotino Bay and its surrounding beaches will be available to residents through a voluntary membership at the Artisan Club, planned to open this fall, or to visitors through ticketed admission to Cotino Bay Beach in the town center, planned to open in 2026.

Soon, residents and their guests can take in the stunning views while going on a morning bike ride, walking the dog or taking a sunset stroll around the picturesque, mile-long promenade.

Beyond revealing new photos of Cotino Bay, the community also opened additional model homes from California-based homebuilders Woodbridge Pacific Group and Davidson Communities. These builders truly embraced the Cotino lifestyle by maximizing indoor-outdoor living with distinct floorplans designed to showcase the surrounding area.

Large, open layouts make these homes ideal for hosting dinner parties and game nights, celebrating birthdays and enjoying time with family and friends.

This fall, the Artisan Club and Parr House will open, adding to the incredible amenities Cotino has to offer. Can you spot the home’s iconic outline taking shape in the construction photo below?

Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel Announces Extensive Renovation Project

To enhance the guest experience, Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa is undergoing a refresh of select areas. This work will result in temporary modifications to some offerings and limited availability of certain spaces.

Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel in Disneyland to Undergo Major Refurbishment

From March 10 through mid-May, we will begin construction on updated, enhanced entry gates leading into Disney California Adventure Park. During this time, guests can enter Disney California Adventure Park through an alternate entrance located next to the hotel.
In March, Storytellers Cafe will temporarily close in its current location for a few weeks to refresh the restaurant’s kitchen areas. During this time, a modified dining experience will be offered in Trillium Room.
Napa Rose restaurant will temporarily close in April for refurbishment and is slated to reopen in fall 2025. During the reimagining of Napa Rose starting April, Disney Princess Breakfast Adventures will be temporarily relocated to Trillium Room.

Guest comfort and enjoyment remain the top priority during the refurbishment. To minimize disruption, construction with the highest potential for noise will be restricted to daylight hours. Guests of Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa will also receive pre-arrival communication regarding the ongoing work.

Iconic Style: The Walt Disney World Park Icons Spirit Jersey You Need Now!

We just stumbled upon the coolest Spirit Jersey that’s practically screaming “I love Disney World!” It’s this super comfy grey number, and let me tell you, it’s packed with park magic.

We snagged it at Disney Springs, and it’s retailing for $79.99, which, okay, isn’t exactly pocket change, but trust me, it’s worth it for how much Disney pride you’ll be rocking.

First off, on the left chest, you’ve got that classic Walt Disney World “D” emblem in this cool blue puffy ink. Below it, “Est. 1971” is chilling, giving a nod to the park’s legendary opening, and there are these awesome fireworks graphics bursting all around it. It’s like a mini celebration right on your chest!

But the real party is on the back. Across the shoulders, the Walt Disney World logo is totally transformed. Each letter is made up of different park icons, characters, and attractions, and it’s a treasure hunt trying to spot them all. Seriously, the “Walt” part alone is a mini history lesson!
