We Have Your First Look at Dart the Dragon at Universal’s Epic Universe! 🐉✨
Universal Orlando’s upcoming Epic Universe just got a little more legendary—thanks to our first-ever look at Dart the Dragon! Spotted in a new aerial video from WESH Chopper 2, this life-size animatronic dragon was seen backstage practicing her moves before making her official debut in How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk when the park opens on May 22, 2025.

Who Is Dart?
Dart is one of Toothless’ children, introduced at the end of How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World. As a Night Light, she’s a hybrid of Toothless’ Night Fury lineage and her mother’s Light Fury traits, giving her a sleek black-and-white appearance.
An Incredible Animatronic in Action
The footage gives us a jaw-dropping first look at the advanced technology behind Universal’s dragon encounters. Dart is capable of moving all four legs, walking, stretching, and even dancing—showcasing a level of fluidity that’s sure to make her feel alive when she meets guests in the park.
While Universal has confirmed that How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk is set between the second and third films, Dart and her siblings weren’t introduced until the end of the third movie. This raises some questions about how she fits into the land’s story—though it’s likely she’ll be featured in the “The Untrainable Dragon” stage show. This show, which has a similar counterpart in Universal Studios Beijing, will be an epic spectacle, albeit set in a different time period.

What Else to Expect in Isle of Berk
Dart isn’t the only dragon coming to Epic Universe! Guests will also get to meet Toothless and Hiccup, interact with dragons throughout the land, and enjoy a fully immersive Viking world. The land will feature:
🎢 Hiccup’s Wing Gliders – A thrilling roller coaster that lets riders soar like a dragon.
🛶 Fyre Drill – An interactive water ride that puts guests in a fun splash battle.
🌌 Dragon Racer’s Rally – A sky-flyer attraction that spins guests through the air.
🏹 Viking Training Camp – A play area designed for younger dragon trainers.
