The Best Places For Chocolate Treats At Disney World

Caramel
Caramel

Caramel

Walt Disney World is well known for many things – it’s characters, it’s rides and attractions, and its FOOD, too! We aren’t talking just your standard “burgers and chicken nuggets” amusement park-fare here – they have it ALLLLL – cuisines from all around the globe, amazing drinks and snacks, and plenty of CHOCOLATE too.

If you’re like me and have a MAJOR sweet tooth, then you’ll want to read on for the Best Places To Find Chocolate Treats at Disney World:

Beaches And Cream: This “soda fountain” style eatery features American classics like burgers, hot dogs, and sandwiches on its menu – all of which are delicious. But the star here is the ice cream menu – shakes and sundaes galore – and for you chocolate lovers: The Milky Way Sundae (drenched in hot fudge and caramel), Fudge Mud Slide (brownie AND hot fudge), and my personal favorite – the No Way Jose sundae featuring chocolate ice cream and peanut butter and hot fudge toppings – needless to say, you’ll be in heaven here when it comes to chocolate desserts!

Main Street Confectionary: This is one of my absolute favorite spots in all of Disney World – it’s an old fashioned candy shop located on Main Street and they sell pretty much any and every chocolate treat you can imagine. The candy case is stocked full of candy apples, Assorted dipped Krispie treats, chocolate covered bananas/pineapple/strawberries, cake pops, cupcakes, brownies, chocolate covered marshmallows, cookies…and as if that wasn’t enough, then there’s the ENGLISH TOFFEE (handmade) and ASSORTED FUDGE (turtle, cookies and cream, rocky road – to name just a few flavors). Seriously – my sweet tooth goes nuts in here, and I have to resist taking home one of everything

Boardwalk Bakery: Not only are there tons of amazing chocolate treats available here, but the location is amazing – a nice little boat ride over to the Resort from Epcot, and then a nice stroll down the beautiful boardwalk and boom – you’re in chocolate HEAVEN. Mickey tarts filled with chocolate ganache, chocolate cake, coffee mocha cupcakes, the amazing cheesecake brownie, peanut butter/banana/bacon pie…the list goes on. But really, I have to say, my go-to is the Mickey Tart – the crumbly shortbread-like outside and the creamy chocolate inside…can’t be beat for this choco-holic

Goofy’s Candy Co: the term “a kid in a candy shop” comes to mind when I enter this place – they sell any and all manner of packaged chocolate snacks – which are great to stock up on for when you’re home after your trip and those “post Disney blues” hit hard – salted caramels, chocolate covered pretzels, candy bars, and plenty more! There’s also a bakery style case offering tons of chocolate covered and filled treats, but the real attraction here for me is the “Create your own” treat – start with a base of a Krispie treat, apple, cookie, marshmallows on a stick, or pretzel rods and then they dunk it in your choice of dark, milk, or white chocolate. Then it’s on to the TOPPINGS – chocolate chips, M&M’s, butterfinger pieces, and many more choices – and then top it with a chocolate drizzle (if you dare!) for the perfectly personalized chocolate treat

Mickey Bar: ok so I know this isn’t a “location” to grab a chocolate snack, but I couldn’t write about chocolate at the Disney Parks without giving a nod to the most classic treat of them all – the MICKEY BAR! Vanilla ice cream shaped like the Mouse and covered in chocolate – it’s the most essential “must have” dessert of them all (or breakfast – I don’t judge). They can be purchased pretty much anywhere and everywhere at the Disney Parks, and the Resorts sell them too – so if you’ve never had one, you MUST on your next Disney trip – they are super easy to find, and super hard to resist

Now that I’m officially starving, drooling, and craving chocolate like crazy after writing that, I hope you take my advice and seek out some of these chocolate treats next time you’re at WDW – trust me, you will NOT be disappointed!

“Golden Oak offers the best in luxury experiences with a unique opportunity to live at Walt Disney World Resort,” said Page Pierce, vice president of Disney Resort Real Estate Development. “We’re excited to welcome residents to our new Kingswell neighborhood where families can build special, lifelong memories for generations to come.”

The neighborhood is planned to include a community park with natural landscapes, which will be available to all Golden Oak residents. Near the park, a new bronze sculpture of Pinocchio will be featured adding to the unique Golden Oak sculpture series that includes sophisticated interpretations of classic Disney animation located throughout the community.

Rooted in tradition, Kingswell is named after the street where Walt and Roy Disney set up their first Hollywood studio – the Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio – in California where they produced the classic cartoon series, Alice Comedies.

Like all Golden Oak homeowners, Kingswell residents become members of the Golden Oak Club, which provides access to amenities including Summerhouse, the private clubhouse for residents featuring the full-service Markham’s dining room and Tyler’s Lounge, state-of-the-art fitness facility and pool. Homeowners can also take advantage of the Resident Services team, which offers concierge-style services and events throughout the year, in addition to assisting with personal requests such as coordinating park transportation, spa and golf reservations, special event tickets and more.

We secured five beach chairs in a prime spot at the second family beach by dropping our towels off before the start of the race.

image

The 3.1 mile long run begins at the bike rental stand (R) and follows the paved bike trail to the Serenity Bay Tram Stop (19) and then loops back around to finish at the bike stand.  There is a water station that runners will pass by a total of 4 times. Participants are given a plastic cup and asked to hold onto it for the duration of the race in order to cut down on waste and mess. Be sure to stay hydrated since it can be extremely hot on the island by the time the 5k starts at 9am. If you don’t plan on heading back to the ship afterwards then I suggest you pack a small snack or breakfast. There is no food available on the island until lunch begins at 11:30am. Two hours is a long time not to eat after running, although I did manage to sneak a bag of chips and soft serve to hold me over.

image

Tram Service

There is a tram that makes frequent stops at various locations throughout Castaway Cay. If you’re not up to walking then consider taking a tram to where you want to go, the wait is usually not very long at all. You may really appreciate the ride back to the ship after a long day in the sun and sand!

Character Meet & Greets

Disney characters are available to meet throughout the day at the Post Office, Gazebo and gangway along with other possible locations on the island.
