When Disney announced that they were naming the area by Pizza Planet, Mama Melrose Ristorante Italiano, and Muppet Vision 3D the Muppet Courtyard, we had a funny feeling that Pizza Planet was not going to be coming back in its old form. WDW News Today confirms that the building which formerly housed Pizza Planet, which has been closed for quite a lengthy refurbishment will be coming back as “Pizza Rizzo“, according to permit documents that have been filed.

The restaurant will still remain a quick service pizzeria, but will have a completely new theming and upgrades. It is rumored the theme will center around the classic Muppets Film, The Muppets Take Manhattan.

We’re not losing hope yet that Pizza Planet is gone for good though. We still don’t have any official word on what types of restaurants will be available in Toy Story Land when it opens. Fingers crossed Pizza Planet will re-open there…

Cover of Auction Catalog from Van Eaton Galleries

Coming to Los Angeles on June 18th is an auction of Disney lover’s dreams! Van Eaton Galleries will be hosting the “Collecting Disney” auction, that will contain over 700 pieces of Disney merchandise and historical items from the Disney archives.

Some of the items that will be up for auction is one of the first Mickey Mouse dolls ever made, and is even signed by Walt Disney himself (estimated value $50,000-$70,000). There will also be furniture from Walt Disney’s office (est. $60,000-$80,000), and early artwork from “Plane Crazy” and “Steamboat Willie” (about $4,000 a piece). Some of the items are even coming from Annette Funicello’s estate, which will be auctioned to benefit The Annette Funicello Research Fund for Neurological Diseases.

What’s unique about this particular Disney auction is the focus on the history of the Disney studios and archives.

“It wasn’t the films the made the studio so much, it was the merchandise, the marketing of the characters that really made Disney what it is today and that’s what we’re trying to show in this auction,” Van Eaton said.

The auction is estimated to collect between $2-$3 million! This definitely sounds like a Disney auction that is not to be missed to avid collectors.

For those not planning to bid, but want to check out this unbelievable collection will have the chance to view them on exhibit at the Van Eaton Galleries from May 25th through June 17th.

Frontera-Fresco_Full_27569

A few weeks ago we announced that Rick Bayless’ new Disney Springs restaurant was changing its name to Frontera Cocina, but that we didn’t have any insight to the menu yet. Today our friends at WDW Magic have announced the first sneak peeks of the new menu for us all to enjoy. Here are some of the delicious options we have to look forward to:

Starters include a variety of guacamole and chip dishes, including the Verde Guacamole – Roasted poblanos, roasted tomatillo, toasted pepitas, cilantro and onions (contains seeds) served with chips and Atomic Guacamole – Diced cucumbers, habanero salsa, cilantro, and onions served with chips. A Chipotle Chicken Tostada and Poached Mazatlan blue shrimp and Baja bay scallops dish is also part of the starter line-up.

Entrees will include a Crispy Half Chicken, a Shrimp Mojo de Ajo, Carnitas, and Red Chile Chicken Enchiladas. Tacos and Tortas include Carne Asada Tacos, Chicken Taco, Pepito Torta and Conchinita Pibil Torta.

Side dishes will include Fried Plantains, Refried Black Beans with Cotija Cheese and Queso Anejo Mashed Potatoes.

The dessert menu features Pecan Pie Bar and a Coconut Lime Quattro Leches.

It also seems there will be a take-out window where you can get tacos and chips with guacamole to go!

The restaurant does not yet have a solid date for it’s early summer opening in the Town Center location, but we’ll keep you updated as we know more. Which is the first menu item you’d like to try when it does?

Here is the first sneak peek at Disney’s upcoming live-action re-telling of Beauty and the Beast.

Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” is a live-action re-telling of the studio’s animated classic which refashions the classic characters from the tale as old as time for a contemporary audience, staying true to the original music while updating the score with several new songs. “Beauty and the Beast” is the fantastic journey of Belle, a bright, beautiful and independent young woman who is taken prisoner by a beast in his castle. Despite her fears, she befriends the castle’s enchanted staff and learns to look beyond the Beast’s hideous exterior and realize the kind heart and soul of the true Prince within. The film stars: Emma Watson as Belle; Dan Stevens as the Beast; Luke Evans as Gaston, the handsome, but shallow villager who woos Belle; Oscar® winner Kevin Kline as Maurice, Belle’s eccentric, but lovable father; Josh Gad as Lefou, Gaston’s long-suffering aide-de-camp; Golden Globe® nominee Ewan McGregor as Lumiere, the candelabra; Oscar nominee Stanley Tucci as Maestro Cadenza, the harpsichord; Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Plumette, the feather duster; six-time Tony Award® winner Audra McDonald as Madame Garderobe, the wardrobe; Oscar nominee Ian McKellen as Cogsworth, the mantel clock; and two-time Academy Award® winner Emma Thompson as the teapot, Mrs. Potts.

Directed by Oscar® winner Bill Condon from a screenplay by TBD based on the 1991 animated film, the film is produced by Mandeville Films’ David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman with eight-time Oscar-winning composer Alan Menken, who won two Academy Awards® (Best Original Score and Best Song) for the 1991 animated film, providing the score, which will include new recordings of the original songs written by Menken and Howard Ashman, as well as several new songs written by Menken and three-time Oscar winner Tim Rice.

“Beauty and the Beast” will be released in U.S. theaters on March 17, 2017.

Chelsea Herline

Way back in 1994 Chelsea Herline was a 4 year old girl visiting Disney World with her family, unfortunately on the last day at the parks she got sick and couldn’t use the last day of four day park hopper ticket. This experience happens to many families myself included.

Fast forward to today, Chelsea’s dad was cleaning out the basement in Michigan and found the old ticket. Knowing they would be going on a family vacation to Orlando they brought the ticket with them. With ticket in hand Chelsea attempted to gain admittance to the Magic Kingdom.

Chelsea Herline

Chelsea had her mom bring her to the front gate of the Transportation & Ticket Center then asked her to circle back around in case she couldn’t get in. She walked up to the ticket counter with the unexpired ticket and a big smile on her face and said:

“Hi, I have a really old ticket, will you let me in?”

and they did! The cast members simply changed the old ticket in for a one day pass and let her in.

forever

She spent the day in the park by herself enjoying all the rides she missed as a kid and taking pictures with the characters. She even got a button to celebrate the occasion!

How cool is that? Do you have any old tickets lying around?

You can read all about her extraordinary experience here.

Beautiful Disney Inspired Quote Necklace

Disney Inspired Quote Necklace

Quotes from Disney movies, the Disney Parks, and Walt Disney himself have long inspired many fans to believe in dreams and wishes. I really enjoy Disney inspired jewelry with meaning, so I fell in love when I saw this Disney Quote Inspired Necklace by ohdarlingjewelry on Etsy.

This necklace is inspired by Walt Disney. It features one of my favorite quotes “It’s kind of fun to do the impossible”. To me nothing describes the magic of the Disney Parks more than that quote. Each necklace is made to order, and each letter is stamped individually by hand, it also has a stamped mouse shape and Swarovski crystals. You can also choose your choice of chain length, so no matter your necklace preference you can find the perfect fit for you. I think Swarovski crystals in red and black are the perfect touch, to give it the essence of the original Mouse himself, Mickey. The Disney Inspired Quote Necklace is available on Etsy here. There are a few beloved and inspiring quotes from Disney Movies available as necklaces too, you can check them out below.

Host Your Own “Inside Out” Movie Night!

Inside Out
Inside Out

Inside-Out

Have you had the chance to see Disney/Pixar’s “Inside Out” yet? I just saw it for the first time (I know, I am a bit behind, whoops!), and I really loved it (check out a review of the blu ray here!) – it’s such a creative theme/story for a movie, to get a glimpse into what someone is actually thinking/feeling, and in a way that’s fun and easy for those of all ages to understand. The movie follows an 11 year old girl through some tough times – and shows her emotions Fear, Anger, Disgust, Sadness, and Joy hard at work – and I have to admit, I have never seen anything quite like this movie. Little ones will love the visual aspect of it, and older kids will relate to the feelings and the struggles that Riley, our main character, is facing. Inside Out is the PERFECT movie to show at your next DIY Movie Night – and here are some ideas to make the night even more fun:

Décor: This is actually a pretty easy movie to decorate for – as each emotion is represented by it’s own color – Joy is yellow, Sadness is blue, Anger is red, Disgust is green, and Fear is purple – so you can easily head over to your local party store for an assortment of plates, cups, cutlery, tablecloths and streamers in those colors. Since the movie is relatively new, you can easily purchase stuffed animals, figurines and other toys/trinkets themed after the emotions from places like Wal-Mart, Target, Amazon, and the Disney Store

Food: Every good movie night has to have some awesome snacks – so how about serving a “pop of Joy” – little cups of buttered popcorn, “Donut be Sad” blue frosted donuts, “Anger me not” red velvet cupcakes with orange frosting, “Not so disgusting” Green smoothies. Or “Fear’s Panko-Protected Green Beans” – which are breaded and baked green beans? Rainbow colored gumballs/other round candies serve as perfect “memories”, and really anything rainbow colored is bound to go over well with the little ones! Check out more themed food ideas here

Activities: This is a great chance to talk about feelings with your kids – explaining what each emotion is, and what it looks like, and then asking them to give you examples of each is a great activity that the whole family can take part in. If you’re looking for more of a hands on activity, check out this DIY memory ball activity, or this collection of assorted free printables – including number and word activities, too! This Inside out memory game is a great activity for younger kids, while older kids can benefit from some of these tips and tricks for teaching kids about emotions. Who says movie night can’t be educational, too?

If you need more party ideas, check out these great ideas (and these, too!)

I loved this movie – it made me laugh, it made me cry, it brought me joy…well, you get the idea. It really is the perfect movie to show at your next Disney DIY Movie night as it’s perfect fun for the whole family!

Sia to Sing Finding Dory’s End-Credit Song

FD Sia
FD Sia

FD_Sia_

Five-time Grammy nominee artist Sia will be singing a cover of “Unforgettable” as the end-credit song in Pixar’s “Finding Dory“. The song was originally written by Irving Gordon in 1951, and then covered again in 1992 by Natalie Cole. This classic song seems like the perfect choice to wrap up “Finding Dory“, not only because of the song’s title being fitting towards Dory’s short term memory loss, but is also a nod to “Finding Nemo”‘s end-credit song, which was a cover of the classic “Beyond the Sea” by Robbie Williams.

Director Andrew Stanton is a big fan of Australian performer Sia, saying, “In the same way Robbie Williams did his own unique twist on a classic song for ‘Finding Nemo,’ Sia captures the soulful truth of the Nat King Cole classic ‘Unforgettable,’ and makes it all her own. They are a perfect complement to one another, just like the two films.”

Sia is honored to be a part of “Finding Dory” as well, and will be performing “Unforgettable” for the first time on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show”.

“Dory’s story makes me teary,” said Sia. “When Ellen asked me, I couldn’t refuse!”

Everything You Need to Know of Disney’s Upcoming Animated Films

image1 4

In recent years, it seems like Walt Disney Animation Studios has been on fire, rolling out one insanely successful film after another, such as “Frozen”, which became the highest grossing animated film of all time, and “Zootopia” breaking box office records (it’s now the 5th highest grossing animated film of all time), and surpassing box office projections (bringing in a total of $997 million worldwide). Not only that, but the animation studio itself has been getting a new design and makeover to help inspire more creativity and a communal work space. With so much happening over at Disney animation, it’s exciting to think of what else the studio have up their sleeve for the near future.

Here is a round-up of all the upcoming Disney animated films that have been officially announced, and what we know so far!

Moana

MOANA

What We Know: This is the next Disney princess film, about a young princess who sets off on an epic adventure with the demi-god Maui to help save her family. The film stars Dwayne Johnson as Maui and newcomer Auli’i Cravalho as Moana. The film is being directed by Ron Clements and John Musker, who also directed “Aladdin”, “The Little Mermaid”, and “Princess and the Frog”, so this is sure to be another great Disney princess film!  Not only does the film have great talent behind it, but is beautiful visually. Fans got a sneak peek at a scene from “Moana” at last years D23, and the ocean and island scenery were breathtaking.

What We Wonder: This is the first Disney princess film to be released since “Frozen”, and will again have a strong female lead at its focus. Will the combo of stunning visuals and a great role model for young girls match “Frozen”‘s success, or even possibly surpass it and become the new number one animated film?

Release Date: November 23, 2016

Gigantic

gigantic

What We Know: The film is inspired by “Jack and the Beanstalk”. “Gigantic” is set in Spain, where a young boy named Jack discovers the hidden world of giants that is up in the clouds. He ends up on a thrilling journey with a 60-foot-tall girl named Inma. The film is directed by Nathan Greno, who also directed “Tangled”. Kristen-Anderson Lopez and Robert Lopez, who wrote the unforgettable songs in “Frozen” will be writing the songs for “Gigantic”, which is also an animated musical.

What We Wonder: Will there be any big names in the voice cast of the film? I am also curious to see how Spanish art might influence the animation style of the film to help establish the setting of Spain.

Release Date: March 9, 2018

Frozen 2

frozen2

What We Know: The same cast, song writers, and directors will be returning for the film’s sequel. In March Kristen Bell said that a script was complete, with just a few tweaks needing to be done, meaning that voice recording will be soon underway!

What We Wonder: Will Hans return for the sequel? Also, will “Frozen 2” surpass “Frozen” at the box office? I am also curious to see if there will be a song in the film as iconic as “Let it Go”.

Release Date: An official release date hasn’t been announced yet, but people have been speculating Fall 2018 or sometime in 2020, as it seems the new and upcoming pattern for Disney releases are two films released every other year (“Zootopia” and “Moana” this year, and “Gigantic” in 2018, still leaving a space open for a fall/winter 2018 release).

These are all the titles that have been officially announced by Disney Animation Studios, and am excited to see what might be coming in 2020 and beyond! We might perhaps be seeing a “Wreck-It-Ralph 2” or a “Big Hero 6” sequel, as some interviews have indicated.

What film are you most excited to see? Do you think any in the line-up will become the new number one animated film of all time?
