As we can all imagine, planning a Disney Wedding takes a lot of effort, time and thought.  A Disney Wedding is going to reflect the personalities, styles, and traditions of the Bride and Groom.  Something else the happy couple will consider is the comfort and enjoyment of their guests during this magical day.  I would like to share with you a guest perspective on attending a Whimsical Disney Wedding.

Imagine my surprise when the Bride and Groom told me I would need to be at the Contemporary Resort for a special bus pick up to be transported to the wedding.  And here I was thinking I would just walk into the park and check in as a wedding guest at the appropriate location.  Since the wedding was in the World Showcase at Epcot, I was expecting the bus to take us to the International Gateway.  I was amazed when I realized we were being transported behind the scenes to an unknown destination.  We came around the back side of Epcot, behind Test Track, along the outer perimeter of the park, and ended up between Canada and the United Kingdom.  From my perspective, this wedding was off to a great start with its many surprises!

The arrival saga continued as we were greeted by a Cast Member who was to be our transportation guide specialist.  She was dressed complete with an orange safety transportation vest, similar to that of a school crossing guard, and an orange directional glow-wand. Her name was Ann and she was an absolute joy.  My group was laughing so hard, we were practically crying.  I mean who knew that arriving to a wedding would be this much fun?

The Disney Wedding I attended took place outdoors at the Canada Pavillion. Central Florida offers some of the best weather in our country during the month of October.  The lovely gardens of the World Showcase Canada, along with the contrast of the white elements offset by the decorative purples and blues, made for a beautiful backdrop for this Whimsical Disney Wedding.  After the wedding ceremony, each guest was given a purple tube of bubbles.  We lined up on both sides of the walkway and greeted the Bride and Groom with thousands of bubbles.  We were then met again by Cast Member Ann as she led us to the magical gate that transported us back to our special bus.

Our bus transported us to the Grand Floridian Resort where we were directed to the Whitehall Patio and Courtyard.  The whimsical teapots were such a sweet surprise and were perfect for the theme of the wedding.  I was beyond impressed with the assortment of lovely cheeses, fresh fruits, breads and crackers that were available for the enjoyment of the guests.  There was also champagne, Mimosas, and non-alcoholic beverages as well.

After the Bride and Groom arrived, we were directed to the reception room.  The first thing that caught my eye was the whimsical table displays.  From the stacked-angled teacups and saucers, to the teapots encased in flowers, the tables were absolutely lovely.  Instead of traditional place cards, the tables featured Embroidered Mickey Ears to define where each guest would sit.

The Bride and Groom’s table was set, but as is the case with most weddings, the Bride and Groom did not get to eat very much!  From the perspective of this guest, the Cheddar Cheese Soup was magnifique and the fresh fruit with cream was a light and perfect brunch option.

The wedding cake was a perfect match for the Whimsical Mad Hatter theme of the wedding.  I was amazed at how each layer of the cake leaned perfectly in a variety of directions.  Mickey and Minnie graced the top of the cake in a beautiful teacup.  The cake looked much to good to eat.  However, the cutting of the cake was imminent as I saw the Mickey and Minnie knife and cake server on the table beside the cake.

The wedding cake featured a Hidden Mickey and Hidden Minnie on the back side.  You know you are at a Disney-themed event when you begin finding Hidden Mickeys.  I am not a big fan of cake but I admit that I actually ate the cake and loved it!  In fact, I ate the entire piece of pineapple-strawberry-basil that I was offered.  The cake literally melted in my mouth.  The pineapple cake with the strawberry-basil filling, was not like any cake I had ever eaten before.  From my perspective, the cake itself was very moist and the flavor combination was perfection.  The chocolate-almond-almond looked amazing but I simply could not eat another bite at that point.

And what would a Disney Wedding be without a visit from Mickey and Minnie?  Having them arrive at the wedding, start a dance party, and assist the Bride and Groom with the cutting of their cake was so much fun.  They were both dressed in their wedding finery. Mickey showed off his dance moves and had us all laughing.  Before they left they posed for pictures with the Bride, the Groom, and the Guests.

My perspective on this beautiful Whimsical Disney Wedding is that the Magic was like nothing I have ever experienced before.  I am so thankful to have had the opportunity to be a part of such a special day in the lives of my friends.  If you ever have the chance to attend a Disney Wedding, do not pass it up.  My experience has left me with new friends and memories to last a lifetime.
