Disney Junior Responds to Doc McStuffins Cancellation Rumors

Doc McStuffins Adoptiondocmcstuffins

Yesterday, as rumors of “Doc McStuffins” being cancelled and not returning for a fifth season grew rapidly, the hashtag #renewDocMcStuffins” spread like wildfire. Even celebs like Zendaya and comedian W. Kamau Bell were rallying for the Disney Junior show to stay on!

The creator and executive producer of the show Chris Nee said in response to all Doc McStuffins love that had gone viral:

“I am always looking for ways to shine a light on people who don’t get to see themselves represented on TV. I think it’s one of the most powerful things we have in working in especially preschool television. Unfortunately – like everyone else – we [African American population] really lag in our representation of people who are in the mainstream.”

Disney Junior took to Twitter to respond to the concern of the show possibly being cancelled:

Nee is encouraging fans that they can watch Season 4 on Netflix to keep the love for Doc McStuffins alive, and to increase the chances of Disney Junior to renew the show for a fifth season.

New Popcorn Flavors Coming to Main Street Popcorn Company

sieru2342

There’s nothing like grabbing a bag of popcorn at the Main Street Confectionary on Main Street in Walt Disney World (you can also  get the popcorn at Disneyland as well). In fact, my family prefers the rainbow (confetti) kind, and we grab a bag every trip! If you’re like us, then you’ll be excited to hear that Disney has added some new flavors to the popcorn lineup.

lsdjr2341

Don’t worry about losing your favorite flavor with the new additions,  because guests will continue finding traditional popcorn flavors such as caramel, kettle corn, cheddar or confetti. The new popcorn flavors include Sriracha kettle corn, parmesan garlic, kettle corn with red alaea salt, truffle, churro and maple bacon.

Along with the new flavors, the Main Street Popcorn Company even got a facelift, with updated artwork!

klsjerh23r42

A spokesperson with Disney has said:

“Overall, the most popular new flavor is maple bacon. At Disneyland Resort, guests love the churro-flavored popcorn. Sweet flavors continue to be extremely popular in the marketplace. We’ve also seen an increase of savory flavors in the market, so we added some options like Sriracha kettle corn.”

The Main Street Popcorn Company line is carried in select merchandise locations at Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resorts.

Which new flavor are you going to try?

According to an Orange County Sheriff’s Office incident report a 7-year-old boy was groped while swimming at Disney’s Pop Century Resort Pool yesterday around 9:40 p.m.

According to Click Orlando the incident involved a 30-40 year old man who allegedly grabbed the boy 3 times while swimming in the pool.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office said it is investigating the sex crime, but no other details have been released, and no arrests have been made.

Finding Dory and The BFG Box Office Numbers, Dory Still Number One

findingdory

Finding Dory” still ranks number one in its third weekend at the box office. This is a huge feat, considering the summer box office always poses lots of big-budget competition. Although Pixar’s last release, “The Good Dinosaur”, didn’t do incredibly well ($331.9 million worldwide), Pixar has come back with a bang with the “Finding Nemo” sequel.

Just this weekend alone, “Finding Dory” has made $41.9 million nationwide (projected to be $50 million by the end of the weekend). Oversees, “Dory” brought in $34.4. million. Overall, the film has made a total of $538.2 worldwide, making it tied with “Finding Nemo” as the 5th highest-grossing animated film of all time. It seems “Finding Dory” could be well on its way to becoming the highest grossing film of all time, considering its already made about half the amount “Frozen” has just by its third weekend!

TheBFG5738ad529d2d5

While Disney has seen a year of amazing financial successes with “Zootopia”, “The Jungle Book”, “Captain America: Civil War”, and now “Finding Dory”, they are now it seems experiencing their second flop of the year. In May, “Alice Through the Looking Glass” made $259.3 million worldwide. This holiday weekend, Disney released its first film made with Stephen Spielberg, “The BFG“, based on the Roald Dahl book of the same name. “The BFG”, while being a critically acclaimed success, seems to be struggling in the box office, only making $23.6 million during the 4-day weekend box office.

Despite these numbers, Disney distribution exec VP Dave Hollis said:

“All of us are very very proud of the film. And are encouraged in the way people responded, from the first screening at Cannes to strong reviews to the CinemaScore. And we are hoping for resilient weekday business because of the availability of the family audience, plus strong business internationally.”

If you haven’t had the chance yet to see “Finding Dory” or “The BFG”, you can read up on them ahead of time with our official reviews:

Celebrate Christmas on the High Seas with Disney Cruise Line

DCL

DCL

This holiday season, give a gift that’s both nautical and nice: a cruise on the Disney Magic, Disney Wonder, Disney Dream or Disney Fantasy, all decked out with holiday cheer. Starting early November, Disney Cruise Line adds sparkle to each ship during Very Merrytime Cruises, with traditional “turkey day” fanfare, Christmas feasts, “snow flurries” and New Year’s Eve galas. But the best part might just be relaxing on deck instead of shoveling snow.

During these voyages through the new year, special stem-to-stern holiday events include:

  • “Mickey’s Tree-Lighting Magic” in the atrium lobby on the first night of the cruise, where Disney characters lead holiday carols and the lighting of the glittering, three-deck-tall tree.
  • “Santa’s Winter Wonderland Ball” in the atrium lobby, where Disney cruisers welcome the guests of honor, Santa and Mrs. Claus, with a grand celebration featuring Broadway-style entertainment, favorite Disney characters and classic holiday tunes. This evening of enchantment is made complete when a special pair of royal sisters joins the party and causes a flurry of “frozen” fun as a magical snowfall overtakes the atrium.
  • Dickens-inspired carolers carrying the spirit of the holidays throughout the ship while singing holiday classics, sometimes with the help of favorite Disney friends. At the end of the cruise, children will have the opportunity to join the carolers onstage for a special farewell show.
  • Family holiday activities including building gingerbread houses and meeting Santa Claus.
  • Youth holiday crafts such as decorating stockings and gingerbread men cookies, making holiday cards and creating holiday animation cells.
  • “Deck the Deck Holiday Party,” a tropical celebration with Disney friends leading games such as hula hooping and limbo under oversized candy canes, along with dances for the whole family like the “Yuletide Slide” and a conga line around the pool.
  • A special holiday edition of the cheerful farewell celebration on the final night of the cruise, with beloved Disney characters and the ship’s crew in an engaging musical finale led by Mickey Mouse.

On Thanksgiving Day, guests will enjoy a bountiful Thanksgiving Day feast and visits from Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse dressed in traditional Thanksgiving attire. Also during the special Thanksgiving voyages, NFL football games will be broadcast live on the ships’ outdoor, jumbo LED screens – Funnel Vision – located near the family pool.

Christmas morning at the atrium lobby tree Santa Claus and his helpers will have a surprise for all the kids, and guests will delight in a special musical performance from the children. A traditional Christmas Dinner will be served that night in the dining rooms.

Christmas services will be held on Christmas Day with a midnight mass on Christmas Eve. Hanukkah services will be held each day, Dec. 24 to Jan. 1.

When the ships stop at Disney’s private island in the Bahamas, Castaway Cay, during the holidays, the celebration continues with “snow flurries,” a decked-out Christmas tree, Disney character meet-and-greets and holiday island music.

For an extra sprinkle of holiday joy, special amenities are available for stateroom delivery. Purchased in advance of sailing, these include holiday-themed gift packages and treat baskets and even mini Christmas trees decorated with ornaments, red berries, mini carnations and a bow topper. Plus, during the holiday cruises, the Disney Cruise Line holiday merchandise collection and ever-popular Disney Cruise Line ornaments will be available in the gift shops.

To ring in 2017, voyages during the holiday include a special New Year’s Eve party, complete with music, sparkling wine in commemorative flutes and a midnight countdown.

To celebrate the holidays, the Disney Magic sails four- and five- night Bahamian cruises, five-, six- and seven-night Eastern Caribbean cruises, and seven-night Western Caribbean cruises departing Nov. 5 to Dec. 23; the Disney Wonder sails four- and seven-night Western Caribbean cruises, and seven-night Bahamian cruises departing from Nov. 10 to Dec. 23; the Disney Dream sails three- and four-night Bahamian cruises departing from Nov. 7 to Dec. 22; and the Disney Fantasy sails seven-night Eastern and Western Caribbean cruises departing from Nov. 19 to Dec. 24.

Too Cute to Miss Monorail Disney Wrap Bracelets

Monorail Bracelets
Disney Wrap Bracelets

For Disney Parks enthusiasts the monorail translation announcements are iconic, and beloved. This Monorail Bracelet from emmelinebydesign displays that iconic love with a fun and stretchy wrap design.

“Please stand clear of the doors. Por Favor Manténgase Alejado de las Puertas” is one of the most popular and well known quotes from Walt Disney World. It was probably the first thing I ever learned to clearly say in Spanish as a little tyke too. Now it is hand-stamped on an aluminum charm and placed on a jersey and spandex bracelet that wraps around multiple times, creating a “cuff” look. These are great for park going or even jazzing up running costumes because they are a cloth material for those that are sensitive to certain types of jewelry, and you can take the charm off to easily wash the material to keep it vibrant and clean! As you can see in the pic above, their stretchy nature also makes them easy to wear with MagicBands because they can fit comfortably higher up on your wrist behind the band.

I really love the comfort and fit of her bracelets. If you need a little bit of monorail magic, you can get your Disney Wrap Bracelets here!
