Some genius, somewhere, took the iconic Dole Whip dessert that we all know and love and turned it into a cake. I will admit – I was skeptical at first, like “Is that REALLY going to translate well into cake form?” well – the answer is YES. Not only does it translate well, but it’s delicious, too!
Ingredients
1 can (20 oz.) DOLE Crushed Pineapple 1 box (2¬layer) white cake mix
1 cup plus 5 tablespoons all¬purpose flour, divided
1¬ 3/4 cup sugar divided
3/4 plus pinch teaspoon salt, divided
4 egg whites
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 ¬1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt, divided
1¬ 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract, divided
1 can (6 oz) DOLE Pineapple Juice
1 cup whole milk
1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature and cubed
1/2 cup boiling water
1 box (4 servings) pineapple flavored gelatin
1/2 cup cold water
1¬ 1/4 cups frozen whipped topping, thawed
Instructions
Preheat oven to 325°F. Spray two (9¬inch) round baking pans with cooking spray and line with parchment or wax paper.
Press crushed pineapple through a sieve to drain well, reserving the juice. Juice should measure about 1¬1/3 cups. Set aside. Add pineapple to food processor and process until pureed. Set aside.
Combine cake mix, 1 cup flour, 3/4 cup sugar, and 3/4 teaspoon salt in a large bowl. Whisk to combine. Add egg whites, oil, 1 cup yogurt, 1 teaspoon vanilla, reserved juice, and half of the reserved pineapple puree. Mix with a hand mixer for 2 minutes.
Divide batter between prepared baking pans. Bake for 35 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in the middle comes out clean.
Meanwhile, heat pineapple juice to boil and add gelatin. Stir until completely dissolved. Add cold water and stir to combine. Allow to cool to room temperature. Fold in remaining 1/2 cup yogurt and whipped topping until well blended. Cover and chill until set, about 1 hour.
Combine remaining 5 tablespoons flour, 1 cup sugar, and milk in a small sauce pan. Whisk until smooth. Heat over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture comes to a simmer. Continue to cook and whisk for 3 minutes, until mixture thickens. Remove from heat and cool to room temperature. Beat in 1/2 teaspoon vanilla, pinch of salt, and butter one cube at a time, ensuring frosting is smooth. Fold in remaining pineapple puree.
Spread filling over bottom layer of cake. Top with second layer. Spread frosting over cake. Chill cake for at least an hour before serving.
It got an enthusiastic seal of approval from my little Mickey lover!
It’s tropical, it’s moist and flavorful, and best of all – its reminiscent of those hot sunny days at Disney – so if you’re looking for the perfect dessert to bring along to a summer cookout or BBQ, or if you’re just looking for a reminder of just how delicious those Dole Whips are – then I suggest you give this recipe a try.
Originally slated to debut in April, Disney fans have been eagerly awaiting the debut of this pretty book. The patterned images include many of our most beloved characters. The book is divided into three sections. There is Animal Heroes, Animal Villains, and Sidekicks. The coloring books aren’t like your flimsy childhood ones they are board covers with foil elements. They are absolutely spectacular in design and looks. Sadly Mickey and friends did not make the cut in this collection, so I’m hoping for a future Art of Coloring release that focuses on those characters.
So if you’ve been waiting for your chance to get your paws on this beautiful work of coloring art, you can get yours now!
According to Kenny the Pirate, Disney will be pulling the popular Turkey Legs from their menus at Hollywood Studios. This just months after removing the Turkey Legs from their Animal Kingdom theme park.
The Turkey Legs are a fan favorite and debuted back in the 80’s at Big Al’s Coonskin Caps in Frontierland at the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World.
Toloca Legs Turkey Co will be changing its name to the Sunshine Day Cafe in the coming weeks and will offer a new menu which has not been released at this time.
Your final day to get those Turkey Legs at Hollywood Studios is August 1st so be sure to pick one up the next time you are there!
Attendees of this year’s San Diego Comic Con had the chance to get a sneak peek of ‘Moana‘ and learn more about Disney’s latest princess film, directed by John Musker and Ron Clements. The panel, which included Disney family newcomer and the voice of Moana Auli’i Cravalho, provided insights to the story development process, the research involved, and, of course, details about Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s character Maui.
Here’s a recap of some interesting details we learned about the film today —
Lots and lots of research about Polynesian mythology was conducted to learn more about the culture and, of course, Maui.
‘Moana’ is full of music! Lots of original music on the way from the film.
Music in the film includes songs from Lin Manuel Miranda, star of Broadway’s “Hamilton”.
Navigators from the Pacific Islands played a major influence for the story.
Moana is the daughter of a very protective Chief Tui.
Water isn’t just nature, it’s a character in this film.
Maui’s “Mini Maui” tattoo is drawn 2-D, but the character is CG. This was a huge challenge!
The adorable little piggy seen in the first trailer is Moana’s sidekick Pua.
Hei Hei the rooster started out as a sneaky smart character. He “evolved” into a rooster with a much lower IQ later on down the line during the film’s development.
Auli’i was the last girl that auditioned for the voice of Moana.
Moana is drawn to the ocean, as her ancestors were the greatest voyagers.
Auli’i took her very first trip to Disneyland a few months ago and met all the other Disney princesses.
There is NO romance in this princess movie.
Dwayne Johnson SINGS in the movie!
Dwayne Johnson was ideal for the part of Maui due to his Pacific Islander (Samoan) ancestry.

A reimagining of Disney’s cherished family film, “Pete’s Dragon” is the adventure of an orphaned boy named Pete and his best friend Elliott, who just so happens to be a dragon. “Pete’s Dragon” stars Bryce Dallas Howard (“Jurassic World”), Oakes Fegley (“This is Where I Leave You”), Wes Bentley (“The Hunger Games”), Karl Urban (“Star Trek”), Oona Laurence (“Southpaw”) and Oscar® winner Robert Redford (“Captain America: The Winter Soldier”). The film, which is directed by David Lowery (“Ain’t Them Bodies Saints”), is written by Lowery & Toby Halbrooks based on a story by Seton I. Miller and S.S. Field and produced by Jim Whitaker, p.g.a. (“The Finest Hours,” “Friday Night Lights”), with Barrie M. Osborne (“The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring,” “The Great Gatsby”) serving as executive producer.
For years, old wood carver Mr. Meacham (Robert Redford) has delighted local children with his tales of the fierce dragon that resides deep in the woods of the Pacific Northwest. To his daughter, Grace (Bryce Dallas Howard), who works as a forest ranger, these stories are little more than tall tales…until she meets Pete (Oakes Fegley). Pete is a mysterious 10-year-old with no family and no home who claims to live in the woods with a giant, green dragon named Elliott. And from Pete’s descriptions, Elliott seems remarkably similar to the dragon from Mr. Meacham’s stories. With the help of Natalie (Oona Laurence), an 11-year-old girl whose father Jack (Wes Bentley) owns the local lumber mill, Grace sets out to determine where Pete came from, where he belongs, and the truth about this dragon.
The Pete’s Dragon original motion picture soundtrack will be available wherever music is sold on August 12. The soundtrack can be pre-ordered at iTunes, Amazon Music and streaming partners. Hey there gossip fans it is I, Anonymouse, with some exciting news for you! Disney cruise line may be acquiring 12 acres island in the Bahamas. The land is occupied by beautiful sandy beaches and is surrounded by a pristine reef.
Disney is being very quiet about the entire situation. You know how Disney is all hush hush when it comes to those kinda things…
The rumor started when a drilling rig was noticed scooping up seabed samples in the waters outside of Egg Island which is located right next to Royal Island in the Bahamas. Disney already has it’s own private port at Castaway Cay located near Great Abaco Island in the Bahamas.
The local community is not looking forward to the new port, and have started a petition to try to save their island.
Of course this is all just rumors right now, but with Disney Cruise line launching two new ships in 2021 and 2023 this may be something feasible.
That is all the Disneygossip I have for now. For my past gossip articles be sure to check them out here. Got any good gossip/rumors please email me at anonymouse@chipandco.com or on my Facebook page.

Disney’s international trailer for Moana is a little different from the usual trailer. Instead of the typical montage of clips taken from the different moments of the film, this trailer shows an important scene in which the title character meets the ocean as an adorable baby.
The footage in the trailer was shown to fans at the Disney D23 Expo last year, and director Ron Clements explained back then why they made the choice of the ocean itself playing such an important role, according to Comicbook.com.
“There is one other very important character we want to mention in this movie, the Pacific Ocean,” Clements said. “When they visited the South Pacific for research, they saw that the people there spoke of the ocean like “a person or a friend.” They make the conversation between Moana and the Ocean a two-way process in the film, as demonstrated in the clip above, with the water acting playful with the little girl.”
Moana stars Dwayne Johnson as the god Maui, and introduces newcomer Auli’i Cravalho as Moana. It also features the music from Opetaia Foa’i, Mark Mancina, and Lin-Manuel Miranda.
