Announced this morning Disneynature welcomes John Krasinski into the family as the narrator of BORN IN CHINA.
“I’ve been a huge fan of the Disneynature films for a really long time,” said Krasinski. “I think I’ve seen them all a couple times and to be asked to be a part of something that I feel is not only so beautiful and such great storytelling, but is so important, I was honored to be a part of it. To find this unbelievable landscape that was far beyond the cities and the bustling crowds of the China that I thought I knew was just fascinating.”
Directed by Chinese filmmaker Lu Chuan, Disneynature’s “Born in China” follows the stories of three animal families, transporting audiences to some of the most extreme environments on Earth to witness some of the most intimate moments ever captured in a nature film. A doting panda bear mother guides her growing baby as she begins to explore and seek independence. A two-year-old golden monkey who feels displaced by his new baby sister joins up with a group of free-spirited outcasts. And a mother snow leopard—an elusive animal rarely caught on camera—faces the very real drama of raising her two cubs in one of the harshest and most unforgiving environments on the planet. Featuring stunning, never-before-seen imagery captured in the remote wilds of China, the film is produced by Disney’s Roy Conli and premiere nature filmmakers Brian Leith and Phil Chapman.
Disneynature’s commitment to conservation is a key pillar of the label and the films empower the audience to help make a difference. Through donations tied to opening-week attendance, Disneynature, through the Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund, has contributed to a host of conservation initiatives. Efforts include planting three million trees in Brazil’s Atlantic Forest, established 40,000 acres of marine protected area in The Bahamas, protected 65,000 acres of savanna in Kenya, protected nearly 130,000 acres of wild chimpanzee habitat, cared for chimpanzees and educated 60,000 school children about chimpanzee conservation. Additionally, efforts have funded research and restoration grants in U.S. National Parks, supporting conservation projects across 2.9 million acres of parkland and protecting endangered species, and helped protect monkeys and other endangered species in their natural habitats across Indonesia, Cambodia and Sri Lanka.
A SeaWorld spokeswomen announced yesterday that they are eliminating 320 jobs company-wide. They will be a combination of layoffs and vacant positions.
This is the second largest layoff for the company since 2014.
Those let go would receive a severance package along with assistance finding new jobs.
Unfortunately a job breakdown was not given at this time.

Great news! We have new information on the all new Disney XD tv show Ducktales! According to Disney we are expected to see a Summer 2017 release of Ducktales!
For those who grew up in the 80’s you might remember this beloved 1987 Walt Disney series and the character creations of Disney Legend Carl Banks, DuckTales will once again pick up on the adventures of rich mallard Scrooge McDuck, his nephew Donald, and Scrooge’s trouble-making grandnephews Huey, Dewey, and Louie. We also here Webbigail “Webby” Vanderquack, the granddaughter of Scrooge’s maid, Mrs. Beakley will also be joining the cast.

Rivers of Light is expected to open in 2017 according to a “What’s New, What’s Next” press release issued by Disney yesterday. The nighttime spectacular at Animal Kingdom was originally scheduled to open on April 22, 2016 but has been long delayed due to technical difficulties.
Below is the new press release, which is the first official update from Disney since they announced the delay back in April:
Rivers of Light – Coming in 2017, this powerful theatrical production takes Disney’s Animal Kingdom guests on a magnificent emotional journey – a visual mix of water, fire, nature and light choreographed to an original musical score. Continuing the park’s transformation from a day-into-nighttime experience, the amazing after-dark show on the banks of Discovery River celebrates the majesty of nature and the connection between animals and humans in the world. With innovative and never-before-seen technology, Rivers of Light will be unlike any other production ever staged at Walt Disney World Resort.
Disney Cast Members have been treated to special previews of Rivers of Light over the past few weeks so hopefully the opening date will be in early 2017.

A special ticketed one-night farewell to the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror at Disney California Adventure will be held on Sunday, January 1, 2017 from 10:00pm until 1:00am. Guests at the after hours Twilight Zone Tower of Terror – 13th Hour dessert party will enjoy live music and a delicious dessert buffet followed by one last ride into the Twilight Zone on its final day of operation.
The party will be a posh affair, so you’re encouraged to dress in your finest Hollywood Golden Age style. Fedoras for the gents and hats with veils for the ladies are welcome, but no masks please.

Tiana’s Riverboat Ice Cream Social Party is a new event that opened this past week at Magic Kingdom’s Liberty Square. This experience is offered daily and is a special ticketed event. The party includes all-you-can-eat ice cream, non-alcoholic beverages, snacks, a personal meet-and-greet with Princess Tiana and Prince Naveen, VIP viewing of the Festival of Fantasy Parade, and a parade around the Riverboat with our hosts. Here is my review of Tiana’s Riverboat Ice Cream Social Party.
The event begins at the check-in podium just outside of the Liberty Belle Riverboat Landing. You will give your name and a Cast Member will make sure you are on the guest list. You will then be handed a large sticker to place on your person identifying you as a party participant.
As you enter the Riverboat Landing, the first item on offer is ice cream and little pastries. You can spruce up your ice cream, or sorbet, with decorative sweets and sauces from a lily pad display table. My favorite choice amongst these treats was the Chocolate Cookie Sandwich. It was sweet without being overpowering. This is only beginning so save room for more!
Party beverages included lemonade, water, and canned Coca-Cola Products. There were festive cups in green, purple, and yellow. You could bring a beverage on the Riverboat with you; but I discovered that, other than the lemonade, you could get water and soda during the parade viewing and the Riverboat Party Tour segments.
Princess Tiana and Prince Naveen were on hand for a personal meet-and-greet with each guest. They were both in character and their personalities suited their characters quite nicely. I really liked that there was no rushing with this part. The character meet is so important to this event and I am pleased that Disney recognized this. They travel with a Disney Photographer who takes the pictures to post to your My Disney Experience account.
Just in case you did not have enough to eat and drink on the Riverboat Landing, you are offered more ice cream and snacks as you board the Liberty Belle Riverboat. There is a snack station on the second level of the Riverboat. There are also Cast Members meandering around the decks with baskets full of snacks, bottled water, and canned Coca-Cola products.
We are sent off in grand fashion by the Cast Members all waving and wearing Mardi Gras masks for our big send-off. Our Riverboat pulls forward about 50 feet to our VIP viewing area for the Festival of Fantasy Parade. There is some trees that slightly interfere with the view, but being up above the parade, on the top deck of the Liberty Belle Riverboat, makes up for that. We were thrilled when Minnie Mouse blew us a kiss from her float.
Upon the conclusion of the parade, the Riverboat backs up to pick up Princess Tiana and Prince Naveen. After all, they were in the parade so they certainly could not be on the Riverboat with us, and in the parade at the same time! They hold a parade around the deck of the Liberty Belle Riverboat while playing tambourines. They are also available for additional photos and conversations. The party takes place as we make our way around the Rivers of America.
As we make our way back to dock at the Riverboat Landing, we are offered additional snacks, just in case we are still hungry. This was a really nice touch and I added a few items to my bag. When I exited, I paid the experience forward by offering some treats to three-year-old Vittoria and her lovely family.
From check-in at 2:00pm to docking and exiting the Riverboat, the entire experience takes about an hour and forty-five minutes. This timeframe is much more suitable and I prefer this over other dessert parties, that tend to run only for sixty minutes, as there is time to actually enjoy the experience. Be sure to use the restroom before boarding as there are no restrooms on the boat. There is plenty of food and beverages and you will not feel hungry, after leaving Tiana’s Riverboat Ice Cream Social Party experience, for the rest of the day!
The only thing I would say could be improved is that there should be music playing while Princess Tiana and Prince Naveen are leading the parade around the deck with their tambourines. The cost for this experience is $49 for adults, and $29 for children. If you can fit this event into your budget, then I highly recommend this experience for anybody. I attended alone and I had a wonderful time. Princess Tiana’s Riverboat Ice Cream Social Party is a must-do event.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story launches into theaters on December 16th, but that’s not the only Rogue One debut on that day. A new limited edition retail Rogue One MagicBand, and more will be blasting into Disney Parks.
Disney Parks Blog has revealed this new Star Wars MagicBand. It will have an edition size of 2,000 and will be packaged in a special decorative box. The MagicBand is inspired by Director Krennic, and will launch on the opening day of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The other exciting thing, is this will be one of the new “MagicBand 2” type of bands. A limited release Vinylmation mystery set, two jumbo pins, and four new name tags.
The hinged Death Star pin (top image) will have an edition size of 3,000, while the Rogue One character pin (bottom image) will have an edition size of 1,000. The Vinylmations have 11 known characters in this series and one mystery chaser figure. You will be able to personalize four new nametags by having your name written in Aurebesh, one of the alphabets used in the Star Wars univers. Two nametags “Darth Vader and Imperial logo” are limited release items created for Rogue One. There will also be two nametags exclusive to Annual Passholders.

At Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park, Pandora – The World of Avatar, will open in summer 2017. In collaboration with filmmaker James Cameron and Lightstorm Entertainment, Disney is bringing to life the fantasy world of Pandora, inspired by Cameron’s epic film AVATAR, in a breathtaking new land at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Avatar Flight of Passage will send guests flying above the jungles of Pandora on a Mountain Banshee. Bioluminescent rainforests dramatically wrap around Na’vi River Journey, a family-friendly boat ride.
There will be new food and drink options as well, including Satu’li Canteen, the main dining location, or Pongu Pongu, a drink kiosk with a design as eclectic as its expat owner. Shoppers can stock up on Na’vi cultural items, toys, science kits and more at Windtraders. “From the place making to the two extraordinary attractions that will be in the land…these promise to set new high-watermarks for the experiential magic we give our guests,” said Bob Chapek, Chairman, Disney Parks and Resorts.

Guests of Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon will also be able to experience a new Family Raft Ride. Aboard this family-style raft adventure, guests will be immersed in the story of Captain Mary Oceaneer. Legend holds that this treasure hunter roamed the seven seas in search of undersea artifacts – until a rogue storm marooned her at Typhoon Lagoon. Guests gently ascend in treasure rafts, only to plunge into a whitewater adventure where they will encounter some of Mary’s deep sea booty. When it opens in spring 2017, it will be one of the longest attractions (2 minutes) at Disney’s Water Parks.

Epcot International Festival of the Arts – Epcot welcomes an all-new festival playing winter weekends and treating guests to a triple scoop of artful fun. For six colorful weekends (Fridays through Mondays) Jan. 13-Feb. 20, visual, culinary and performing arts will take center stage. Each weekend will feature taste bud-tempting and eye-dazzling creations from the Disney culinary team. Meantime, exciting new art from various media will tempt art lovers. Because the artwork will change out, it’s a new art festival every weekend. In addition, the lagoon-side stage at American Gardens Theatre will pulse with favorite showtunes performed by Broadway talent. In a collaboration with Disney Theatrical, songs from some of Disney on Broadway’s award-winning shows including The Lion King, Newsies and Aladdin will be performed.
A new adventure in Disney dining and the ultimate Star Wars tour are being offered to guests in 2017:
New Cabins and Deluxe Villas coming to Disney’s Wilderness Lodge – In 2017, a proposed new Disney Vacation Club Resort, Copper Creek Villas & Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Resort, is scheduled to open, featuring new Resort accommodations that include plans for Deluxe Villas and unique waterfront cabins. Other enhancements coming to Disney’s Wilderness Lodge include a brand-new bar & grill, in addition to a quick-service restaurant. A sweeping re-imagination of the former Hidden Springs Pool, part of Boulder Ridge Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, is also scheduled to open in summer 2017. Named Boulder Ridge Cove, this area will feature an expanded sun deck and zero-depth-entry pool.
New Cheerleading, Dance Venue for ESPN Wide World of Sports – A first-of-its-kind venue specifically designed for the high-energy world of cheerleading and dance team competition opens its doors in 2017 at ESPN Wide World of Sports. The complex is collaborating with Varsity Spirit, the nation’s top cheerleading organization, in bringing the new multi-use venue to life. The venue will include a flexible design that allows for as many as four competition areas. With the ability to seat more than 8,000 guests, the sports and entertainment venue also can accommodate six regulation basketball courts, six regulation volleyball courts or be configured for concerts.
