Get Work Done Like a Jedi with the BB-8 Desk Lamp

BB-8 Desk Lamp

When having to pull an all nighter saving the galaxy, sometimes motivation is helpful, or the Force, but I’m all out of Force powers. A fun sidekick like this BB-8 Desk Lamp by ThinkGeekGet Work Done Like a Jedi with the BB-8 Desk Lamp might just be the motivation I could use!

Star Wars BB-8 Architectural Desk Lamp – Small by ThinkGeek

What if Rey actually sold off BB-8 for all those portions in the beginning of Star Wars: The Force Awakens? Once he stopped working, his scraps would probably be re-purposed, maybe even into a fancy lamp like this one. You can’t just let an investment like that rust in a junk heap!

Keep one of your favorite astromech droids by your side right on your desk! Both sizes of BB-8 Architectural Desk Lamp are position-able and adjustable so he can shed light in all sorts of ways. Don’t expect a lighter to randomly appear when you give it a thumbs up, though.

Do you think that this BB-8 Desk Lamp is worth more than a measly 60 portions?

Is Disney closing Tomorrowland Speedway?

TLS

TLS

Hey there guys and gals it is I Anonymouse back with some Disney World Gossip!

It seems there is talk that Disney might be closing down Tomorrowland Speedway at Walt Disney World… The ride is being demolished at Disneyland Hong Kong and Tokyo with possibly closings in Disneyland Paris as well. So does that mean Disney World in Florida and Disneyland California are next?

I for one would love to see an update to the rides. You have 2 or 3 Disney brands you could bring in for an update. Cars, Wreck it Ralph and even Tron.

Last time I was at Disney World there was atleast a 30-45 minute wait for Tomorrowland Speedway so it is still pretty popular, but that is prime real estate for a new attraction or a futuristic ride that falls more in line with the Tomorrowland theme.

What you think? Does Disney need to just close it down? Or should they update the ride?

Let us know what you think in the comment box below.

As always nothing is official till Disney says it is.

That is all the Disney gossip I have for now. For my past gossip articles be sure to check them out here. Got any good gossip/rumors please email me at anonymouse@chipandco.com or on my Facebook page

Disney Artists and Visiting Artists Appearing At Epcot International Festival of the Arts

20170115_10075920170115_100759What would a Festival of the Arts be without a few Artists?  You will be happy to know that you can attend Artist meet-and-greets complete with artwork signings, Art of Disney tents featuring original art and art reproductions, as well as Disney Artists painting Live.  We were happy to discover that Disney Artists and Visiting Artists are now appearing at the Epcot International Festival of the Arts.

Disney Artist Greg McCullough was on hand to meet-and-greet guests.  He was also available for signing any artwork purchased while he was on site.  Greg’s artistic style is absolutely wonderful and he is also very easy to talk to. He will share tips with aspiring artists and fellow guests were surprised when we told them that he was there and would sign the art piece they were purchasing.

Disney Artist Brian Blackmore was also on site meeting guests and signing his artwork.  He was located near the Mexico Pavilion.  He had on a t-shirt printed with one of his awesome pieces of art; Mickey Mouse in a telephone booth.

20170114_143810

Rob Kaz, Disney Fine Art Artist, was also available for meet-and-greets.  He is likely best known for his Beauregard the Frog character who appears somewhere in every single painting that Rob paints.  Beauregard is very whimsical and Rob’s artwork is wonderful.

Art merchandise tents were also strategically placed around the World Showcase.   The tent featuring the Star Wars artwork by Kim Grommol was quite popular.  If you enjoy Disney artwork you must check out the art displays featured in the merchandise tents.

20170114_124136

The Fairy House Ladies had their own tent.  You may be most familiar with their work as seen in displays during past Epcot International Flower and Garden Festivals.  They assured us that they have connections with Tinkerbell and therefore the design of their Fairy Houses are approved by her.

If you like the Toms shoes with the hand-painted Disney designs on them then you must stop by the Toms tent.  The Visitng Artists team is available to paint your shoes per your request.  After you purchase your shoes and pick your design, one of the team members will give you a time to return and pick up your completed shoes.

Disney Fine Art Artist Rodel Gonzalez was painting Live outside of his Art Merchandise tent.

You can see our Live painting video here:

Disney Art fans are sure to find some interesting displays and merchandise.  With all the Disney Artists and Visiting Artists around every turn, you are sure to enjoy a tour around the World Showcase during the Epcot International Festival of the Arts.  If you are looking for a particular Artist, be sure to check your Times Guide as all appearing Artists are listed there.

Mickey and the Roadser Racers Now On Disney Channel & Disney Junior

Mickey and the Roadster Racers

A brand new Mickey cartoon has zoomed onto Disney Channel and Disney Junior this week! Mickey and the Roadster Racers is a brand new show starring Mickey and the Gang, that is sure to delight young fans everywhere. The high paces, action packed new cartoon zipped onto TV Sunday January 15th, and it was fantastic!

The series, which is geared towards kids 2-7 will premiere internationally throughout 2017. The cartoon takes Mickey and the gang, along with their unique transforming vehicles, on light hearted but high speed races around the globe, as well as adventures and mysteries in their new home of Hot Dog Hills. Off the racetrack, Minnie and Daisy also run their own successful business as Happy Helpers. They solve problems, and lend a hand for anyone in need. The stories are designed to impart social and emotional lessons about friendship, teamwork, optimism and good sportsmanship.

Roadster2

My son and I got the opportunity to check this brand new cartoon out at a special Mickey and the Roadster Racers Fathom Event last November. We really enjoyed it! Not only did we have a fantastic time, but we have also been eagerly awaiting the premiere of Mickey and the Roadster Racers on television ever since! He even requested the racetrackMickey and the Roadser Racers Now On Disney Channel & Disney Junior and carsMickey and the Roadser Racers Now On Disney Channel & Disney Junior for his Birthday this week.

I found that the show’s animation was incredible, and a great update to the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse style. The stories are genuine and even have a nostalgic feel, that almost reminds me of Goof Troop. You’ll notice the cast is no longer contained to Mickey’s Park and have incredible real world adventures. As much as my family has loved Mickey Mouse Clubhouse over the years, I’m very excited to see the characters grow into a new show.

You can catch Mickey and the Roadster Racers on Disney Junior Friday mornings at 9:00 am!

Are you excited to race around Hot Dog Hills with Mickey and the gang? I already know I’m buying the Mickey and the Roadster Racers DVD!  You can get yours March 7th, 2017!

Epcot Offers ‘Figment’s Brush With The Masters’ Hunt for Festival of the Arts Weekends!

20170114_095054

Epcot does a great job of setting up fun hunts.  You may have heard of, or participated in, the giant Easter Egg Hunt offered in the Spring, or the Remy Food & Wine Festival Hunt in the fall.  We are happy to share with you that Epcot is not offering Figment’s Brush With The Masters hunt during the Epcot International Festival of the Arts.

PIck up your Figment hunt map, with stickers, of the World Showcase from Pin Central, World Traveler, or Disney Traders.  Cost of the hunt is $6.99 and includes an artsy surprise upon completion.  The story behind Figment’s Brush with the Masters is that he is traveling around the World Showcase, visiting each country, in an attempt to obtain a dragon’s eye view of a few of the world’s greatest masterpieces.  In the process of his search he ends up being placed into each artistic masterpiece and it is your job to find hin.

20170114_113244

No give-aways here and I will not tell you what country you can find this painting in!  This is one example of what you may be looking for.  You must tour through all 11 Country Pavilions, around the World Showcase, to identify Figment in each painting.  Once you have identified the painting Figment is in, you place the corresponding sticker into the box for that country.

20170114_202216

Once you have identified Figment in each masterpiece, and placed all the stickers in their corresponding locations, head over to Disney Traders for your prize.  A Cast Member will look at your completed map and allow you to choose one of four Figment magnets to bring home.  Your completed Figment’s Brush with the Masters map is also yours to keep.

Children enjoy the challenge of a hunt, and let’s face it, so do we as adults.  Some folks may feel like the cost of $6.99 per map is not worth the cost of the magnet prize you receive at the end.  However, when you do this search with others, particularly children, look at their faces when they make that first Figment in the Masterpiece painting discovery.  After observing this reaction I believe you will agree that the cost is worth the experience all on its own.  There is nothing more valuable than spending quality time with loved ones.  I recommend this hunt for adults and children alike and I am glad Epcot is offering Figment’s Brush with the Masters hunt during the Epcot International Festival of the Arts.

What do you think of this new Figment’s Brush with the Masters hunt?  Please leave your comments in the box below.

Show Your Artistic Side At Epcot International Festival of the Arts

20170114_110407

We all have creative and artistic abilities in our genes.  Epcot has provided a venue for each guest to help paint a large mural.  Come show your artistic side at the Epcot International Festival of the Arts.

As you enter World Showcase from the main Future World walkway turn left and head towards Canada.  You will pass a couple of food kiosks and then you will spot the large mural mounted onto a wall.  Head towards the little tent and get in line.  When it is your turn, you will be given a paint cup and paintbrush.  The paint cup will have a number on it.

You then take your paint cup over to the Expression Section, sponsored by Glidden Paint, pick a spot of the mural with your number on it, and paint it.  That’s all there is to it.  So whether you feel like you are an artist, or not, you can be a Disney Artist for a day!

20170114_202317

Be sure to stop by later in the day to view the progress on your Masterpiece.  I was quite amazed at how the mural was nearly complete at the end of the day.  These interactive experiences are a wonderful way to allow guests to feel like they are part of the process.  Be sure to stop by and show your artistic side at the Epcot International Festival of the Arts.

What do you think about this opportunity to show your artistic side?  Please leave your comments in the box below.

Music in Our Schools Tour

Disney had a very special surprise for students  from Wadworth High School in Ohio who attended a Disney Performing Arts workshop this past Friday at Saratoga Springs Resort as five-time CMA Vocal Group of the Year, Little Big Town showed up to bestow students with some showbiz words of wisdom.

Little Big Town’s Karen Fairchild had the following to say about their surprise visit, “Music education is a right of every student. It helps them develop creativity and self-expression. For me, my music teacher in high school pushed me out on stage for the very first time to sing a solo and it changed my life.  So, I’m very grateful for music education and the power that it had on my career.”

The workshop is part of the Music in Our Schools Tour.  The event founded by the Give a Note Foundation (an affiliate of the National Association for Music Education) was created to celebrate amazing school music programs throughout the country through community concerts featuring popular artists.  The tour began in 2017 and is supported by Radio Disney.

Terry Dola, Disney Performing Arts Vice President of Group Sales and Marketing had the following to say about this exciting initiative, ” Every year the launch of the Music In Our Schools Tour at Walt Disney Resort grows bigger and more exciting. It was the thrill of a lifetime for these students to spend time with such an award-winning group such as Little Big Town.”

Walt Disney World hosts the event as part of its Disney Performing Arts program which aims to inspire, educate and promote creativity and the Arts through workshops, professional-style performances and other unique experiences that you can only get at Disney.
