As Blizzard Beach celebrates its 30th anniversary, Disney has announced that for the first time since 2019, all six Disney World parks—four theme parks and two water parks—will be open at the same time! That’s right, both Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach will be ready to soak guests in fun from May 21 through September 7.

Before the splashy summer fun officially begins, Blizzard Beach will take a brief chill break from May 1–20 to get ready for its grand seasonal return. Once it reopens, guests will have double the slides, double the waves, and double the reasons to celebrate summer at the Most Magical Place on Earth.

Resort guests can dive right in, too—literally. As part of the 2025 perks, all Disney Resort hotel guests will receive free water park admission on their arrival day. A Beloved Perk Returns: Airline Check-In Service Being Tested Again at Walt Disney World

For the first time in forever, a magical convenience is quietly making its return to Walt Disney World. The beloved Airline Check-In service, which allowed guests to check their bags right at their Disney Resort and have them seamlessly transported to the airport, disappeared during the COVID-19 pandemic. But now, there’s reason to celebrate—because it’s coming back.

According to reports, Disney has begun quietly testing the return of this guest-favorite service at Disney’s Pop Century Resort. The pilot program is currently available only for guests flying Southwest Airlines, and a company called Bag Check has been tapped to handle the logistics of transporting luggage from hotel to airport.

While there’s been no official announcement yet, word of the trial is spreading among guests—mostly through word of mouth. For those lucky enough to be staying at Pop Century, the process is fairly simple but does come with a few key details travelers will want to keep in mind.

To use the service:

You must be staying at Pop Century on the final night of your reservation. Even if you switch to Pop Century for just your last night, you’re eligible to use the check-in service.
You must already be checked in with Southwest Airlines and have paid for any checked baggage prior to using the service. (Yes, Southwest has recently started charging for bags.)
For flights departing before 1 p.m., all bags must be brought to the designated check-in desk the night before the flight.
For flights departing after 1 p.m., bags must be dropped off at least four hours before flight time.
Once your luggage is checked in at the resort, you won’t have access to it again until after your flight—so pack accordingly and don’t accidentally stow away anything you’ll need that morning!

While the service is currently limited in scope, this test could signal bigger things to come. If all goes well, we expect to see additional resorts and airlines added to the lineup in the near future, bringing back the magic of stress-free travel for more Walt Disney World guests.

From Teacups to Transportation: Disney Engineer Realizes Childhood Dream

How this Disney Engineer Accomplished a Lifelong Dream

A childhood visit to Walt Disney World, sparked by the swirling magic of the Mad Tea Party, ignited a lifelong dream for Stephanie Petty. At just five years old, she wondered, “How does this ride work? Who created this?” Little did she know, those questions would set her on a path to becoming a Disney engineer.

Stephanie’s fascination with Disney’s attractions began during a family trip, where she marveled at the magic and wondered about the behind-the-scenes work that brought them to life. Her grandfather, an engineer, explained the role of cast members in designing, building, and maintaining these iconic rides. “I thought it was so cool that there were people whose whole job was to make rides for other people to go on and make them happy,” Stephanie recalled. “That trip is what made me want to become a Disney engineer.”

Her journey began in 2009 with the Disney College Program. After a period of focusing on family, she returned to her studies, earning a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2020. “All the years, the hard work, the late nights studying, waking up early for my children… it was tough, but the one goal that fueled me through it all was getting back to Disney and becoming an engineer,” Stephanie said. “It’s all I ever wanted.”

In 2024, Stephanie’s dream became a reality when she was hired as a Disney engineer. “For me, becoming a Disney engineer was the equivalent of how some people feel about getting into the NFL,” she shared. “There were some days that it felt like a long shot, but I knew it was going to work out.”

Stephanie’s current focus is on Disney’s free modes of transportation, including the Skyliner, monorails, and watercraft. “My kids think it’s so cool that I work with the monorails and Disney Skyliner,” she said. “I remember riding the monorails when I was a kid, and my daughter’s favorite ride when she was little was the parking lot trams. It is surreal to me that now I get to work on those and help make magic for other guests.”

Beyond fulfilling her personal dream, Stephanie is inspiring the next generation. Her children are fascinated by her work, with her son aspiring to become an engineer himself. “I’m thankful every day that I get to live out my dream and show my kids that anything is possible,” she said. “I want them to know that there are few things that can stop you if you put your mind to it.”

Stephanie’s story serves as a powerful example for aspiring engineers, especially young girls, demonstrating that dreams can indeed become reality. “It makes me so happy to know that there are other little girls out there who want to be a Disney engineer,” she said. “It’s unbelievable that I’ve accomplished that after all these years and can be a source of inspiration for children and other women in STEM.”
